We stayed at the Hotel Touring twice during a recent trip to Italy. It is one block from the train station, and a major bus stop is right around the corner. The rooms were clean and ample. The air conditioning worked well, the staff was great, and there are good places to eat within a block or two. It is walking distance (20 minutes) from the Field […] of Miracles and the Leaning Tower, although a 72-minute bus pass is only 1.5 Euros. Very close to Pisa train station. Didn't feel entirely safe on the little side street where you enter the hotel, but that was only a half a block. A very nice hotel a short walk from the Pisa train station, the front desk was very friendly and helpful with good English. The elevator was very cramped I barely had space to fit with my bag. The title pretty much says it all, stay here is you want/need to be 200meters from the train station. The neighborhood did not have me feeling safe enough to wander around by myself after dusk. The hotel is approx. 20 minutes walk to the duomo complex (which houses the tower). An easy walk since there is shopping all along the route. There is a public access computer that uses windows 98, so that is just a sample of what to expect. Rooms are small, get a double if you do not want to feel like you have been shoved into a tuna can..and do not even bother with breakfast at the hotel it is useless. I wanted a decent hotel close to the train station so that I could get up early and get to the airport. We basically didn't sleep for our whole stay. The beds were a mess and really difficult to sleep not to mention that the pillows were thin like paper. we had to keep the windows and shutters closed completely because it was noisy all the time. To add it all up the garbage van comes at some 6am and makes even more noise. To add insult to injury the bathrooms are tiny and they stink. Our stay at this hotel was absolutely horrible! All the staff were incredibly rude and acted like they didn't have time for us. The rooms were filthy and had a horrible smell and stained carpet. I like the touring hotel as it is close to train station and airport, its clean with friendly staff, however, if your unfortunate enough to be staying on a windy night you could be kept awake with the windows rattling, also no tea making facillities, sadly both these problems are not uncommon in Italy.

Overall a comfortable room. The bed was good, as was the shower. The hotel let us check in late, which was good. Breakfast was OK, although the desk manager was picking up all the food at 0900 when the breakfast was supposed to go to 0930. She was also quite loud while cleaning things up. But, that was the only negative thing about the stay.

The main reason I chose this hotel was its proximity to the Central train station (it is essentially just across the road from the station). It met my needs perfectly on this occasion, as Pisa was just a connection point in my travels so I was there only for a quick overnight stay. The staff are professional and welcoming, the facilities are basic but adequate (clean bedroom and bathroom, functional airconditioning!!!), and there are a few shops/bars/restaurants in the surrounding area as well. If you are looking for an experience from a hotel in itself, this probably isn't the hotel for you.
