We were very happy with our stay there. We originally had a room looking onto the street but had hoped to gert a view of the Colliseum. We were tjhere for three nights and having moved into the street facing room asked to change. It was not possible for our first night but they very decently moved us in for the next two. Everyone was most helpful and […] accomodating in every way with offers of clean towels nearly twice a night, and nothing was too difficult. "Great place to stay in Rome"
Fantastic apartment, fantastic location. We stayed in the annexe apartment with our two young boys which gave them freedom to move around while we were relaxing and close to the main sites, so there wasn't a lot of walking between sites.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant for a price"
Boutique, tastefully designed hotel. Rooms on a main, busy road, so a bit noisy. Excellent stuff, well trained, polite and helpful. It didn't receive an all out superb because of their overpriced dinner at an average quality in Aroma restaurant (lovely view) and 8Euros for a coffee, or tea.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Palazo Manfredi: an A+ hotel with remarkable staff"
The Palazzo Manfredi is a superb hotel, perfect for families traveling with children. We stayed with our two kids , ages 6 and 8, and needed a room large enough to accomodate 4 people. The hotel maintains a suite (really a full-sized apartment) around the corner from the main hotel approximately 3-5 minutes walking distance. The room was fantastic: […] large, spacious and equipped with a washing machine/dryer, full kitchen, pots and pans, refrigerator and freezer and full cutlery and plates, bowls, etc. It was practically like being at home. The flat was large and well kept, with only some minor detractions (for example, the handle of the washing machine was broken, rendering it inoperative). But to complain about this would be silly, as we were not expecting anything close to the level of amenities that were actually provided. The hotel is also very well located, just a few blocks from a metro stop, literally right across the street from the Colosseum and a short walk from the Roman forum and Capitoline Hill. As nice as the room and hotel location are, what was best for us about this hotel were the remarkable staff. The concierge and receptionist were amazing: kind, helpful and extremely attentive. They helped arrange tours, booked restaurant reservations, and even spent the better part of a day trying to arrange a trip for us to Pompeii, including hiring a tour guide, finding transportation to and from the site and providing various alternatives at a range of prices. "Great hotel. Excellent location. Excellent service"
Apart from being located right beside the colosseum, what makes this a great hotel is the service. They really go the extra mile. However, with no tea and coffee in the room and a 10 euro room service charge, it cost us 26 euros to have two coffees in our room. Maybe a little excesive.Genuine Expedia guest review

Good bathroom, comfy bed, ok bedroom, wish they had told me that the tube ran straight under the hotel and shook the building most of the night at 10 minute intervals.
Delig dusj!!

"Location great. But feel manipulated."
07/12/14 GSpier Zurich, Switzerland
This hotel has an amazing location - right next to the Coliseum. So no issues at all on that front. But I feel like we were manipulated in deceptive way by the reservation staff as follows: We had booked 2 rooms for our family with adjoining rooms. And we confirmed the reservation one week before. But on our Friday night arrival, all the hotel had for us was two separate rooms, With young children, my wife and I had to sleep separately. But they promised us adjoining rooms for the following night. Now it's Saturday night and we are in a suite, which is right next to a loud, open-air discoteque and I am writing this, kept wide awake by the blaring beat. I am certain that the management knew this when they moved us in a cynical ploy to take advantage of the fact that were are on a short trip and are unlikely to be back. It is what it is, and I will survive - even if tomorrow we will all be ragged. My best advice to travellers is to make sure, if you are staying over the weekend, that you are not on the ground floor room over the discoteque.
"Fantastic boutique hotel - impeccable service"
07/12/14 Mike L Sydney, Australia
We came here for a special trip, first time away from the kids in seven years! I read through trip advisor pretty extensively and Palazzo Manfredi seemed like a good choice. I'm glad we booked, the service at this hotel is the best I've ever received. Francesca and Bruno were staff the really made it the experience we were looking for. It's certainly not a budget hotel, cappuccinos in the room will set you back EUR 20! Luckily, they have Nespresso machines in each room, which was very nice. The location was very good, but we found we were up near Piazza Navona area quite a bit and ended up walking a fair amount. Our room faced the Main Street, which was quite loud when Ambulances drove by - I'm guessing there is a hospital nearby, given the number of ambulances with sirens driving by! If you are looking for service - this is the place. If you want location and don't care about the view - you might be better served up near Piazza Navona. One tip, save your money and don't bother with Aroma restaurant at the top of the hotel. You can't find many more romantic places nearby and still have a view.
"trip of a lifetime"
07/03/14 Caroline B Toronto, Canada
Palazzo Manfredi, a Relais & Chateaux property in Rome. Locals (not just tourists) come from all over, to dine, propose, get married, or enjoy any event that is life changing to celebrate it at this spot. Its very boutique, modernly decorated however still holds the ancient magic of the city. The rooftop is the main draw, I mean the rooms are gorgeous, lavish and the staff beyond helpful, polite and cater to your every whim. The roof is divided into a bar/smoking area and the Aroma restaurant. Dining is exquisite. I believe that food, service and ambiance all play into experience; food can be top notch but if the service is perfunctory, well then it takes away from the experience – not the case here. Additionally the central location is perfect to explore Rome. I’m in love with the city, the people, everything - would come back to Manfredi in a heartbeat.
"Amazing location with world class customer service"
06/21/14 SallyLumpLump Olney, MD
Spent three nights and could not have been treated better. Bruno, the hotel manager, was genuinely interested in our comfort and our feedback. Frederica was incredibly helpful as the concierge and Adriano with the rest of the staff anticipated our needs. Aroma rooftop restaurant was outstanding. The decor of the rooms, amenities, and every detail of this hotel were perfect. Finally, looking out our window at the Colosseum was breath taking. We have stayed in many great hotels around the world but Palazzo Manfredi is one of the best.
"Excellent stay, on the doorstep of the colloseum"
06/06/14 Jon Potter Melbourne, Australia
We stayed for 5 nights in a master room (room #23?). The corner room was small but not cramped (good sized wardrobe), nicely furnished and had a great view of the colloseum from the room and bathroom. The double glazing in the room was appreciated although we did miss block out curtains as we found the room was too light a bit too early each morning. The nespresso coffee machine in the room was a nice touch. The bathroom (shower only) was excellent, with plenty of space, hot water and fluffy towels. The bonus was the view of the colloseum. Unfortunately the service of the room was a bit hit and miss. Some afternoons, when we returned to the room, we found we had no soap or clean coffee cups. One afternoon I had to ring reception as there was no soap and no toilet paper!? This was rectified very promptly. We tried the hotel bar on a couple of occasions but didn’t return as we were the only non-smokers in the room on both occasions and were basically smoked out. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent. The food and service was exceptional and the view of the colloseum at night was the icing on the cake. The concierge service was extremely helpful and friendly and made our stay all the more enjoyable. We were assisted with colloseum tickets (buy them beforehand to avoid the enormous queue), dinner reservations and general sightseeing tips. The location of the hotel is excellent for the colloseum. forum, palletine and capitoline. The hotel also has a few bars and restaurants a short walk away. We used the metro on a number of occasions, the metro stop was about 7 minutes walk away. Many buses and at least one tram route pass the hotel regularly. We did walk to centro storico a few times (30 minutes to the pantheon), a taxi costing about EUR10. By the end of our stay we did find the walk between the Il Vittoriano (wedding cake building) and the hotel a bit laborious as it was a slow slog due to the number of people on the footpath. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying here again.
"Great view, wonderful service, but a little noisy."
06/02/14 SRichardson Bangkok, Thailand
This place was frankly amazing and the view was perfection of the Coliseum. We were directly below the restaurant and the many ambulances in the intersection that seemed never ending really did become annoying for us. Very late in the evening sleep was elusive with the sounds of a restaurant being closed down, carts rolling, chairs scooting, etc. The building itself is 16th century and it is quite charming with whimsical decorations- not elegant but more on the "fun" side. The ambulances we were told are because a very large hospital is nearby and at times it was one after another. This is no fault of Manfredi of course. We wanted the location and it's give and take. The breakfasts were very decent buffet style (not included in the room charge and quite expensive) and freshly cooked eggs to order. The view is lovely up there, and you will pay for it. Dinner is also served and we ate there once at Aroma, a very popular place to dine in Rome. Palazzo Manfredi is a hotel with high standards, staff was very good- all of them frankly Service is excellent, strong attention to detail but I did not feel it was 5 star, obviously a matter of opinion. It's a very expensive hotel so to be fair I was holding our experience to those standards at that price. The room was small but well furnished, and the Nespresso machine in the room was a lovely added touch. There are other options to stay walking distance to the Coliseum but the view from Manfredi from your own hotel room can't be duplicated, it's frankly a bucket list experience. If not for the noise and a few missteps this would be in the "excellent" category for us.

I visited Rome several times for various reasons and every time I could, I reserved the fabulous Hotel Palazzo Manfredi Gladiatori . The first time was in 2011 and I remember that it was just for 3 days. It was useful for me because afterward I contacted the reservations by myself through telephone or email and I often managed to have very good rates as they knew we had become very good clients. Seeing the pictures of the hotel and especially the spectacular views of the symbol of Rome ( Colosseum ) , I made sure to have a good room overlooking the Colosseum . My wife and I were surprised by the proximity of the Hotel to the Coliseum and will never forget the feeling running down your body when you're in the bathroom , for example, taking a shower , and you see through the window that majestic monument you've seen thousands of times on TV or in the cinema. The room is large, with a comfortable bed and fine furniture. We have visited so many 5 star hotels with maybe larger and more luxurious rooms, but in the Gladiatori apart from the view, a guest can remark elegance and attention to details. The cleanliness was high appreciable, the room was cleaned punctually every morning just after breakfast; we couldn’t wait to come back to our room to enjoy the view and the atmosphere. The reception team was super; everybody was polite and attentive with a very good English knowledge and a high attention to guests’ satisfaction. They followed us from the reservation until our check out impeccably. The breakfast terrace is another plus point of the hotel . It is very expensive ( and dinner even more) , but the quality of the food and the choice are superb. The staff is always smiling and ready to assist you promptly. It is true that the rooms are prohibitively expensive, but it is completely worthy . We already miss it.

"LOVED this place!"

I'm a little late in reviewing- but we stayed here on our honeymoon in 2012. We booked a room here and it wasn't one of their best rooms with a view, but we were just excited to be that close to the Colosseum. When we got there, tired from traveling from Venice, they told us to head up to the bar for a complimentary glass of champagne. Then they came and got us and took us to our room. They had upgraded us to a room with a window RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE COLOSSEUM. It was amazing. They had decorated the bed with rose petals (formed into a heart) and had a bottle of champagne chilling. We had been upgraded in other hotels, but this was above and beyond. Definitely stay here if you are looking for a great hotel with a great view. Also- make sure to eat at their rooftop restaurant for the best view of the Colosseum!
"Great service from all."

Not sure why the hotel would recommend ristorante papagio to eat at though. Enjoyed the esthetics of the hotel, front desk service, bar service from the terrace. I'm still staying for a few more days but wanted to get my comments in. The room is beautiful along with its decor. Thank you palazzo manfredi.
