"Very good hotel for Taos vacation"
The hotel has wonderful grounds with trails and a stream and waterfalls. It is about .5 miles from the plaza. The rooms are very nicely appointed.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel in the woods"
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Very pretty decorated with lots of art painting and beautiful decorations. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I really enjoyed my staying there!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was simply overrated. Fancy furnishings but poorly designed room (arranged around the bathroom in the center). The tub entrance is particularly unsafe in its design. They offer valet parking which is not timely (and your car is no more than 100 ft away). Would never stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel with nice pool and fountains"
Best hotel so far on our 3 week vacation in 10 different hotels. Large room. Immense bath room. Great walking space.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A treasure in Taos."
My husband and I enjoyed one night in this beautiful hotel/resort. On the morning after we arrived, we took advantage of their lovely pools and hot tub, the spa, and the charming upstairs library. A wonderful experience!Genuine Expedia guest review
The location of the hotel was walking distance from town and the hotel provides shuttle service if you are not up for the walk. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the room was very nice. The room was modern with an open wall between the bathroom and the bed, which we are not fans of. We were disappointed that the staff was not very friendly […] or helpful. Great hotel but the location is about a mile from downtown Taos and the neighborhood doesn't look real nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very nice, but..."
This hotel was both lovely and a little chintzy. One day before our stay we got a message that there was a problem with our booking. They first offered to move us to another hotel and pay the extra price -- but El Monte Sagrado is the most expensive hotel in Taos, so that wasn't offering much. I explained that I had the reservation for four months, […] and after a long hold they offered us a two-bedroom suite instead, for the price of one of the two rooms we had originally reserved (we are a family of 5.) The room was lovely, even Starbucks coffee and tea for the coffee maker, but you have to pay per day for internet. We ate at the hotel bar the first night, which was quite nice but certainly pricey and you paid for even bread if you asked for it. We were able to park the car in the lot, but valet parking (not even 50 feet from the self-park spots) was an additional cost per day. Had we paid the rate for the two rooms we originally reserved, we would have felt strongly that the hotel was over-priced. As we had one lovely room, it worked out fine. The staff was helpful, answered our tourist questions, but made us felt just a little as if we were an imposition. So a lovely stay, but with hesitations. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved El Monte and we look forward to staying here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First, I'd like to say that the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, so this review is mostly about their policies more than it is about their service. I travel a lot, and I find myself surprised when hotels in the US STILL charge for internet service. Not only do they charge per room, they also charge per device that is connected. Also, this […] hotel states they are pet friendly. They are, but the fee is almost as much as one night at the hotel was. I'm aware most hotels that allow pets have an associated fee, and most of them clearly state this online...however, this one is not listed online. The charge is for "deep cleaning" of each room after the pet is gone. The only problem with that, is that I was not a given a receipt for what exactly "deep cleaning" entails. Not only that, but in 3 days of staying there, I did not see any additional cleaning devices besides the standard carts at any time. For a hotel of this nature, I felt as though I was being charged for small things here and there, which all add up. While the facility is awesome and the location is nice, I think next time I may just save my money and stay at a Holiday Inn...no access to a spa-like setting or massages, but at least I know what I'll be paying for up front. "El Monte Segrato"
Close to Historic center of Taos; beautiful grounds. Reminded me of the Beverly Hills Hotel! with a western motif. It was a nice quiet place, but you could walk to town.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great but pricey"
Very nice hotel, way over priced, nickel & dime to death, fees for everything. Hotel is beautiful. Take extra money. Staff were great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A+ Customer Service & Spa Faciities"
Continually book this hotel while in Taos. The Spa here is amazing and I really can't say enough about the customer service. Zak at the front desk goes above and beyond. Thank you so much for taking such good care.Genuine Expedia guest review

I really enjoyed staying there and have considered staying there again the next time I go visit the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was a delight!! The setting and atmosphere is beautiful. The views are georgeous, you feel that you are in one of the higher end lodges without breaking the bank. "Great place to stay in Taos."
Large room with wonderful amenities. Comfortable bed and excellent shower. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Walked into town easily. I'd stay there again for sure if we are lucky enough to return to Taos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"el monte sagrado"
Wonderful facility and staff. My one objection, and it is a big one, is that they charge extra for everything. I thought my room had been prepaid but on departing, the room fees just about doubled the cost of the room. They also add on for wi-fi, wireless, and other things that other hotels provide without extra charge. The also charge for parking. […] All in, the cost of the room was twice the advertised price. Response by El Monte Sagrado, Autograph Collection Thank you for the lovely comments about our property and staff. Gorgeous hotel with beautifully landscaped grounds. Staff is pleasant and well-trained. Restaurants and bar area are very nice. We stayed in a suite with fireplace and balcony overlooking the gardens and waterfall. Wonderful experience. Negatives: Fee for Wi-Fi which we think should be included in the room rate. "One of the best hotels in Taos"
We stayed in the 1 bedroom with a pull-out-sofa. The room was nicely furnished and had a large bathroom. There were only 3 of us. I think any thing over four would require a larger room. The pool and hot tub were excellent after hitting the ski slopes! Overall we really enjoyed our stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"First time in Taos,,, Great hotel option!"
This was our first time in Taos and we were there to ski. Although the location is not ideal for hitting the slopes it is one of if not the best option in the area. The hotel is very nice and rooms are clean and as pictured, The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rate is not on the cheapest but we believed it was within reason for the quality. We loved the restaurant, but thought the room was noisy and the tv selections very limited. The staff was friendly except for the receptionists at the spa. We decided not to use the spa because of her unhelpful and discourteous responses.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, restaurant needs work"
El Monte Sagrado is a beautiful surprise tucked into a quiet Taos neighborhood. The rooms are modern with touches of the old west. The staff is friendly, helpful and well-informed. However I do have two complaints. The parking lot is very difficult to maneuver on weekends and you must rely on valet parking. Normally this would not be a problem, but […] if you are coming and going a lot as we were to meet friends in a different part of town, it was somewhat of a hassle. But the parking attendents were friendly and handled the overcrowding well. Also I felt the dinner we had one evening in the hotel restaurant was not equal to our expectations. Being somewhat of a foodie, I felt my haddock was dry and overcooked. And all three entrees that arrived at our table had the same accompaniments although the menu descriptions had been different. One of my companions ordered the bisque and found it to be excessively salty. Overall I felt the entrees were uninspired, lacked creativity and were overpriced. But my salad and dessert were both well done and flavorful. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully. If our meal had been on par with the rest of our experience, I would have given this hotel a "5". Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Don't waste your money!"
This was a Christmas present splurge as we spent more on the room than we normally would. 2 adults & 2 teens. When we arrived, we were told that the reservation From Expedia showed 2 guests (my confirmation showed 4), that they were all out of 2 queen rooms and all they had left was one king room. And they were out of rollaways. My kids ended up on […] blow-up mattresses on the floor, which took up all of the empty floor space. The room was the last room in the last building-- if it was a "deluxe" room I'd hate to see a regular room. Other experiences: 2 phone calls from the front desk for another party, a delivery of someone else's luggage, an indoor pool area that smells like a septic tank, in-room movies that did not work, and to go along with the planned movie night: an order from room service of 4 bowls oof ice cream that took 1 1/2 hours to arrive, cost $40, and only arrived with 3 bowls. "Lovely grounds but does not live up to expectation"
We were very disappointed with our stay at El Monte Sagrado. We were told that our room was upgraded to a suite. Imagine our surprise when we walked into our room, located next to an elevator, to see a regular hotel room with a balcony overlooking the roof of another smaller building. It turns out we were not given the upgrade we were told we did. The […] room we had was for those with mobility issues, complete with fold down seat in the shower, not the bath with a soaking tub and shower as was in the room description on our reservations. Instead of being upgraded, we were definitely downgraded. The carpet was filthy and there were several lightbulbs out, making it difficult to see. The lightbulbs were eventually replaced. We asked to move to another room and were told that there were none available. However, it did not look as though the hotel was full, especially on the second night of our stay. The front desk person was rude the 4-5 times I spoke to her. When asked to speak to a manager, I was told he would not be available during our stay. I have since written him a letter but have heard no response. Our experience at the restaurant was just as frustrating. On one occasion I ordered soup, which arrived after the rest of my frien I must say that the valet parking had the friendliest staff and appeared to be the only ones attempting to provide a comfortable environment for those staying at this establishment. They were great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was just great. We used the gym every morning and had most of our meals in the resturant which has great meals. the only thing I found to my dislike was the lighting. They need to put a good lamp by the easy chair so you can sit and read.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not worth the price"
The room was nice, but too much noise. The first night someone walked past the bedroom window and woke me up at 2am, the second night there was a party going on until 1am just down from my room. The third night no outside noise heard. There absolutely needs to be more soundproofing to the bedroom window. You are charged for valet parking even if you […] don't use the service. I did not know it was a mandatory charge so when I arrived I just parked the car (it's a small parking lot). The morning I got ready to leave, no valet person could be found, even after multiple calls on the walkie talkie (when I was promised I could get my car anytime) it was at 8am on a Sunday. The office girl had to go get my car and of course it was blocked in by another car so that car had to be moved. It took about 20 minutes to get my car when it was just 20 feet away. The housekeepers did not refill bathroom essentials on a daily basis including coffee creamer. I was told by hotel staff that there was no refrigerators in my type of room. It was not until the 2nd day that another guest told me it's hidden location in my room. There was NO microwave in the room. It was very beautiful hotel, but not happy with the services or the noise level. It could have been a much more enjoyable experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The El Monte Sagrado, Taos, New Mexico"
As a first visit, we were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel was in every way up to our expectations in the quality of the staff, the dinning experience, the beauty of the grounds, spa, pool area, and, most of all, the spacious and upscale rooms. The location is quiet with nature surrounding the hotel and is perfect for pet owners to walk their […] dogs & pets are allowed anywhere in the hotel except the dinning areas. It's also an easy walk to downtown. There is valet parking if you prefer, or a parking lot convenient to the main entry or rooms.
