"The best in a small town!!!"
It's just special...especially for a ski vacation..Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved our stay at this hotel. Perfect location, 30 min drive to Taos ski resort and about 5-10 minutes to most restaurants in town. The only reason I rated the overall rating 4 is because the first night we had warm but not hot water in the shower, shower head clogged and trickled out, TV was fussy on NBC during Olympics! The beds were very comfortable […] and room was nice and quite. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
WE ABSOLUTLEY LOVED THIS HOTEL, ALL OF TAOS CARRIES A UNIQUENESS, INCLUDING THIS HOTEL, AND THE STAFF WAS VERY ACCOMODATING, THANK YOU.Genuine Expedia guest review
First class accommodations. Very comfortable and cozy rooms with great local character. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the resort and the food was wonderful and the presentation was impressive.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a beautiful resort with a helpful and pleasant staff. We enjoyed a relaxed and enjoyable time. It can be a romantic getaway or a family vacation for sightseeing or skiingGenuine Expedia guest review
"A great place to relax during vacation."
The experience I had was relaxing. I loved the garden that was near the pool and in the dining room. All the staff was courteous and pleasant, especially the on that attended the bar.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very Nice Stay"
I got tired of awful Taos hotels and decided to upgrade. I enjoyed everything about this hotel, except the nickel and diming. The internet advertised valet parking but did not say that you had to pay $20 for all parking--a pretty steep fee when all other hotels have free parking. Similarly, WiFi was $14 a night. Room Service $5 fee plus automatic gratuity. […] None in themselves outrageous, more the nickel and diming that is outrageous. The business office, including printing, was free, however. "Wonderful accommodations, but horrible service!"
The accommodations continue to be fabulous. We stay, along with 5 other families, 4-5 times per year and I am always amazed at the horrible service we receive. One of these days, I'm going to stop staying here because it is so frustrating! If they could just get better service, it would be an amazing place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed in Taos for a ski vacation 12/31 - 1/03/14. The El Monte was comfortable and convenient. The staff was responsive and helpful. No unpleasant surprises. We did not utilize the dining facilities.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stellar service, fantastic art throughout and can't say enough about the huge tub, fireplace and view! Great hot stone massage! The negatives: a big thumbs down on $20 a day for parking and some &15 a day for wi-fi! Come on! Also, only 4 stars on food--chicken was dry and hard. It must have led a harsh life. Also, spa is superb but be prepared to fork […] out some dough! Not crazy about the automatic 20% "tip." Even without it, it can get pretty pricy. Why not just add 20% to the price and let customers decide what to add for good service? We got engaged in our robes in front of the fireplace. It was about 12F outside but inside the heat was on. I had been to their spa before and lived it so I just had to stay there this time. It was exactly what I hoped and the spa was great again too!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was amazing. The staff was welcoming and professional, the room was impeccable, and food was great. I would DEFINITELY stay here again and would recommend this place to everyone.Genuine Expedia guest review
The ambiance was wonderful, the people terrific. It was unfortunate that they were having problems with their septic system making it a bit unpleasant. We were shocked to see a $20 a day parking fee added to our bill. We were disappointed that we would be charged to park on the very same property. It left a bad impression with us and as annual visitors […] to New Mexico we will think twice about staying there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice place & great service. However, when we checked into room #606 we noticed there was no clock in the room so we requested a clock. Guy brings clock but electric outlet didn't work. Sent "Engineer" to repair outlet. Then the toilet didn't work so they sent someone else for that. Also, half the TV stations don't come in very well, there's lots of […] static. "Good price for the resort feel."
Great bell hops and registration staff. Facility was bigger than I thought it was going to be. Room had a nice tall ceiling and small patio. We could hear the people above us probably more than I was expecting, but it wasn't too bad. Carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed, and there was some water damage on the wall from the shower, but otherwise […] the room was very nice and clean. It would've been nice to have a little instruction card for the jet tub, but no big deal. Easy enough walk into the Plaza or they can shuttle you down. Would've liked to stay longer. You have to pay for parking and WIFI separately, but to me that isn't that big of deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We liked El Monte Sagrado Hotel a lot. However we were very annoyed to be locked out of our room after returning from a hike, loaded with packages and gear. We had reserved 3 nights and this was the afternoon of our 3rd day. One of our party had a light breakfast at the hotel and found our server brusque and not very friendly. Our only other mild criticism […] was the room was rather dark. It needed brighter lightening or more over head lights. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice room and setting, poor lounge and restaurant"
The room was very comfortable and the setting was quiet and scenic, but the restaurant was inferior and the lounge was terrible. The bartender (Scot) was very rude and the whole atmosphere of the place was funereal.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful hotel. However, while I understand why an expensive hotel still ends up charging its guests for parking and internet (means more money for them), I find it a ridiculous practice. Would have gotten a better review were they not to nickel and dime their guests.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Near town center"
Beautiful property within easy walk of Taos center. Pricey but good value for first class hotel. Very nice grounds and the rooms are unique and well decorated. My only peeve is charging for wifi, just include it in the room rate! I generally avoid hotels with fees like this...just put it in the room rate! Other than that very nice property.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is lovely. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There were some disappointments however. Food in restaurant was average. Main course came out before we finished appetizer. $100 meal unremarkable. The hotel have many pieces of art. Enjoyed walking around and looking. Some of charges were rather petty. . .$10.00 per day for wifi? Really? […] You get free wifi at Starbucks!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel in the woods"
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Very pretty decorated with lots of art painting and beautiful decorations. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I really enjoyed my staying there!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was simply overrated. Fancy furnishings but poorly designed room (arranged around the bathroom in the center). The tub entrance is particularly unsafe in its design. They offer valet parking which is not timely (and your car is no more than 100 ft away). Would never stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel with nice pool and fountains"
Best hotel so far on our 3 week vacation in 10 different hotels. Large room. Immense bath room. Great walking space.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A treasure in Taos."
My husband and I enjoyed one night in this beautiful hotel/resort. On the morning after we arrived, we took advantage of their lovely pools and hot tub, the spa, and the charming upstairs library. A wonderful experience!Genuine Expedia guest review
The location of the hotel was walking distance from town and the hotel provides shuttle service if you are not up for the walk. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the room was very nice. The room was modern with an open wall between the bathroom and the bed, which we are not fans of. We were disappointed that the staff was not very friendly […] or helpful. "Very nice, but..."
This hotel was both lovely and a little chintzy. One day before our stay we got a message that there was a problem with our booking. They first offered to move us to another hotel and pay the extra price -- but El Monte Sagrado is the most expensive hotel in Taos, so that wasn't offering much. I explained that I had the reservation for four months, […] and after a long hold they offered us a two-bedroom suite instead, for the price of one of the two rooms we had originally reserved (we are a family of 5.) The room was lovely, even Starbucks coffee and tea for the coffee maker, but you have to pay per day for internet. We ate at the hotel bar the first night, which was quite nice but certainly pricey and you paid for even bread if you asked for it. We were able to park the car in the lot, but valet parking (not even 50 feet from the self-park spots) was an additional cost per day. Had we paid the rate for the two rooms we originally reserved, we would have felt strongly that the hotel was over-priced. As we had one lovely room, it worked out fine. The staff was helpful, answered our tourist questions, but made us felt just a little as if we were an imposition. So a lovely stay, but with hesitations. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved El Monte and we look forward to staying here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First, I'd like to say that the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, so this review is mostly about their policies more than it is about their service. I travel a lot, and I find myself surprised when hotels in the US STILL charge for internet service. Not only do they charge per room, they also charge per device that is connected. Also, this […] hotel states they are pet friendly. They are, but the fee is almost as much as one night at the hotel was. I'm aware most hotels that allow pets have an associated fee, and most of them clearly state this online...however, this one is not listed online. The charge is for "deep cleaning" of each room after the pet is gone. The only problem with that, is that I was not a given a receipt for what exactly "deep cleaning" entails. Not only that, but in 3 days of staying there, I did not see any additional cleaning devices besides the standard carts at any time. For a hotel of this nature, I felt as though I was being charged for small things here and there, which all add up. While the facility is awesome and the location is nice, I think next time I may just save my money and stay at a Holiday Inn...no access to a spa-like setting or massages, but at least I know what I'll be paying for up front. "El Monte Segrato"
Close to Historic center of Taos; beautiful grounds. Reminded me of the Beverly Hills Hotel! with a western motif. It was a nice quiet place, but you could walk to town.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great but pricey"
Very nice hotel, way over priced, nickel & dime to death, fees for everything. Hotel is beautiful. Take extra money. Staff were great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A+ Customer Service & Spa Faciities"

"Great place to stay in Taos."
Large room with wonderful amenities. Comfortable bed and excellent shower. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Walked into town easily. I'd stay there again for sure if we are lucky enough to return to Taos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"el monte sagrado"
Wonderful facility and staff. My one objection, and it is a big one, is that they charge extra for everything. I thought my room had been prepaid but on departing, the room fees just about doubled the cost of the room. They also add on for wi-fi, wireless, and other things that other hotels provide without extra charge. The also charge for parking. […] All in, the cost of the room was twice the advertised price. Gorgeous hotel with beautifully landscaped grounds. Staff is pleasant and well-trained. Restaurants and bar area are very nice. My only complaints are that the gym is very small and the hot tub was not functional during our stay. Our room was amazing and the staff was extremely polite and helpful. Would return.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One of the best hotels in Taos"
We stayed in the 1 bedroom with a pull-out-sofa. The room was nicely furnished and had a large bathroom. There were only 3 of us. I think any thing over four would require a larger room. The pool and hot tub were excellent after hitting the ski slopes! Overall we really enjoyed our stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"First time in Taos,,, Great hotel option!"
This was our first time in Taos and we were there to ski. Although the location is not ideal for hitting the slopes it is one of if not the best option in the area. The hotel is very nice and rooms are clean and as pictured, The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rate is not on the cheapest but we believed it was within reason for the quality. We loved the restaurant, but thought the room was noisy and the tv selections very limited. The staff was friendly except for the receptionists at the spa. We decided not to use the spa because of her unhelpful and discourteous responses.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, restaurant needs work"
El Monte Sagrado is a beautiful surprise tucked into a quiet Taos neighborhood. The rooms are modern with touches of the old west. The staff is friendly, helpful and well-informed. However I do have two complaints. The parking lot is very difficult to maneuver on weekends and you must rely on valet parking. Normally this would not be a problem, but […] if you are coming and going a lot as we were to meet friends in a different part of town, it was somewhat of a hassle. But the parking attendents were friendly and handled the overcrowding well. Also I felt the dinner we had one evening in the hotel restaurant was not equal to our expectations. Being somewhat of a foodie, I felt my haddock was dry and overcooked. And all three entrees that arrived at our table had the same accompaniments although the menu descriptions had been different. One of my companions ordered the bisque and found it to be excessively salty. Overall I felt the entrees were uninspired, lacked creativity and were overpriced. But my salad and dessert were both well done and flavorful. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully. If our meal had been on par with the rest of our experience, I would have given this hotel a "5". Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The people at El Monte Sagrado are five star as well as all the facilities. They were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. "Don't waste your money!"
This was a Christmas present splurge as we spent more on the room than we normally would. 2 adults & 2 teens. When we arrived, we were told that the reservation From Expedia showed 2 guests (my confirmation showed 4), that they were all out of 2 queen rooms and all they had left was one king room. And they were out of rollaways. My kids ended up on […] blow-up mattresses on the floor, which took up all of the empty floor space. The room was the last room in the last building-- if it was a "deluxe" room I'd hate to see a regular room. Other experiences: 2 phone calls from the front desk for another party, a delivery of someone else's luggage, an indoor pool area that smells like a septic tank, in-room movies that did not work, and to go along with the planned movie night: an order from room service of 4 bowls oof ice cream that took 1 1/2 hours to arrive, cost $40, and only arrived with 3 bowls.
