Ok, so i paid one hundred pounds to stat at hotel di Ann in a double room for one night. It is one of the cheapest hotels to stay at on Hotels.com in Amsterdam. Its basic. The room is very small, but clean. two paces from the bed, is the,you guessed it, very small, toilet shower room. The fact it has a safe is great, because without the safe, it wouldn't be safe. The hotel is a fifteen minute walk from Central Station. Its in a nice location, not right in the middle of things. But easily in walking distance of Amsterdams vibrant night life. The decor looks like it could need a little upgrade. It looks pretty tatty, especially in the bedrooms. While laying in bed you are looking up at a stained false ceiling with broken tiles. Nice Over all i'd say, if you've got a tight budget and dont mind staying in a small , but clean room for a night or two this is ideal.

I'm not delighted with Di Ann. The hotel is in very good central spot and that's probably the best you can say about it. Small, we suppose to be in double luxury room and there was hardly space to turn inside. Curtains looked like they have never been cleaned for the last 5 years. We had safe in the room, which I liked. The stairs - God help you if you are not good climber, so steeply stairs I have never seen in my life! Staff was friendly though

The hotel location couldn't be better, as it is aprox 3 blocks from Dam Square and 4 blocks from Anna Frank house. However, at the rate I paid I was expecting a little bit better. The room was extremely small, I traveled alone so it was ok, but I can say there wouldn't be a way to put anybody else in that small room. The stairs are a pain if you have heavy luggage, are physically disabled or not in good shape, better find some other place. The rooms are not very clean, the carpet looks dirty, there were a little bit of mildew in the shower, the ventilation duct is extremely dusty, and I found a small insect which I had to kill, not sure if it was some kind of roach. The breakfast was also not great, there were scrambled eggs (which i cannot eat), cheap cheese, cereal, bread, milk, coffee and orange juice... that's it. Next time in amsterdam I will search for another place even if I have to pay a bit more.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful at this hotel. Be advised that the hotel is in the top half of the building and my room was the equivalent of a 5 story walkup. The stairs are narrow and steep. No elevator. The room was small (5 x10 ft) which I anticipated, but the carpet needed a good cleaning. Very handy to tram stop and Ann Frank House. Fair price at last minute booking, but a little worn around the edges (towels, bed covering, carpet). Rear facing room w/ single (twin) bed was nicely quiet.

Room was very small, but reasonably clean. As others mentioned, the staircase is impressively steep. these did beat the most steepest I saw in Spain. Breakfast could be improved, I like cereal and they only had the US-type (tons of sugar added, and very much processed).

The hotel is conveniently located, within walking distance of Central station, Damrak and the Leidseplein. Staff are friendly and obliging. However, this hotel is not suitable for older people or the infirm, as the reception and rooms are accessed by an extremely steep stairs. My room was very small (ie say 8' x 4') although it did have an ensuite (which was nearly as big as the room itself itself!). Breakfast was included but again was quite basic. Overall, standard of accomodation was just about passable. Suited to students or those on a tight budget and not too discerning.

The Di Ann was the cheapest available hotel for the time of year but I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews. However, the hotel was in a brilliant location - approx 2 mins to Dam Square, 5 mins to main coffee shop area and 8 mins from Leidseplein area. The room was comfortable and warm, the bedding was clean, the shower was powerful. It wasn't The Ritz but it was exactly what you would expect from a 2 star budget hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH STAIRS - they were typical of the structures in Amsterdam and there was no lift.

There is no parking at this hotel, you need to park the car around the corner by the canal and we paid about 15 Euros for less than 3 hours! Stairs get very steep and dangerous by the top of first flight, no elevator. The room was extremely small, with worn carpets, double bed was uncomfortable, and it was just a double bed in a single room. The sheets were torn! No space between the bed and the window, you had to step over your suitcase on the floor to get anywhere. The remote control was was in pieces! I skipped breakfast and just left. The cost was way too high for what we got, I recommend a chain hotel of similar price.

The Di Ann has a prime location, within walking distance of just about everything. However it does need some renovations-- the window in the room did not fully close and lock, which meant 1) noisier than necessary, 2) no way to block the cigarette smoke wafting in from other guests 3) unsafe, as the guests sharing the balcony could easily have come in. Also the TV did not work. The room itself was fine, the bed was comfortable and it was very nice to have a working refrigerator. As others have noted, guests should be aware of the very steep staircases in this hotel.

Although the location of the hotel is great - very close to Dam Square, Red Light District, etc, the room rate is pretty outrageous considering the accomidations. Be warned that you'll need 20 euro deposit for your room key and TV remote. The rooms are tiny, and the hotel staff will haggle you to let them come in and clean your room even if you request they do not, because they won't get paid enough to survive if they don't get to clean all the rooms. It's a little disconcerting.
