The Convent Hotel is located on one of the main streets in Amsterdam and within easy walking distance to the Centraal Train station and Dam Square-so public transportation is a snap. The hotel is well kept and the staff is very friently. The one complaint about the staff is that they do not seem very knowledgeable about typical tourist activities in Amsterdam and we didn't find a concierge staff member to help with some of our questions. Our booking through hotels.com did not include the breakfast, which looked wonderful and was expensive, so we found a lovely little care within a block or two from the hotel for our breakfasts. Lots of tours seem to use the hotel, so the staff is very comfortable speaking in English with everyone.The entrance to the hotel faces the very busy street, but the rooms are all in the back of the hotel and are very quiet. We enjoyed our stay. I would suggest trying to get the breakfast included in the hotel price.

The hotel was clean, nice, the staff friendly and helpful, especially the Concierge. The location was great, within walking distance of many restaurants, and things to see in Amsterdam.

The room was very small and a bit tight for friends. It would be nice for a couple. But the room had a cozy private terrace. And the staff was wonderful! The two desk personnel we encountered were helpful, went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for a great visit and made a point of having what we needed before we knew we needed it. The hotel was clean, the food just right and always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for us. I would return without thinking twice.

"Artemis Hotel - comfortable stay"
I stayed 4 nights at the Artemis hotel last week and the hotel accomodation was comfortable and the room was clean. The service in their restaurant was poor. My dutch colleagues were warning me that they have poor service and it was confirmed to be true when we had dinner. We waited 30 mintues before the waiter came back to ask for our drinks. Rooms are modern and clean, with anything you could possibly want including a trouser press. The front desk is..... well not the most helpfull staff but it could of been the language barrier..... "Excellent but Isolated"
This is a very nice hotel located in a modern, high end, office park (IBM, Texx, Price-Waterhouse, etc.) that is not far from Schipol but far from downtown. The rooms are large and well appointed, I didn't visit the restaurant. The hotel is easy to get to on 195 bus (10 min.) from AMS airport; or on the #2 tram and #18 bus from center city but it's […] a long ride (30min or more). The real problem is that there is nothing else near the hotel, nothing at all. So it is great if you are visiting one of the offices during the week, elsewise you need to plan travel time to even find a place to eat (besides the hotel). The hotel is great if your looking for a typical comfortable American hotel room instead of a European cracker box. Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. We were there for a 6 days and the cleaning people did a great job every day. The hotel is located a good 10 minute walk to the tram to downtown tourist areas which takes about 20 minutes. "easy to get to from the airport."
This hotel is way out of the city center, but its in a nice area that has nothing but apartments and some corporate buildings, so it is very quiet at night. (taking the 195 bus right from the airport is easy, just ask the bus driver to point out the stop.) getting to the city center wasn't that difficult. you had two public transit choices. there was […] a bus stop right behind the hotel, or you could walk 15 minutes to the tram line 2 stop, just ask the front desk where each is. (the green connexxion bus that stopped there and the gvb tram are owned by two separate companies so the chipkart only worked with whoever you bought it from while i was there.) it'd take 15-30 minutes to get to the center via tram. "Modern and luxurious feel - not easy to find in Amsterdam"
The room was very modern, decorated in muted shades of beige, black and grey. The well proportioned bathroom was exceptionally well equiped, including decent water pressure in the shower. In Amsterdam it is always a challenge to find a match between quality and price, even some of the 3/4 start hotels are shabby in appearance and very basic, fortunately […] the Artemis is not in this category, you get the quality you pay for. The only downside from my point of view is the paid parking - being so far outside the centre of Amsterdam I would have expected the parking to be free, it is about 25 EUR per day but if you are only staying on buisiness (i.e. the oligatory 8 hours sleep plus drink at the bar) then you can pay 11 EUR for 12 hours in the evening. It is possible to have your parking card paid at reception and added to your room bill which if you have to fill out regular expense forms makes life a little easier. Another plus point was the late check-in, having arrived after eleven in the evening I didn't need a discussion about calling ahead and what if no-one was here etc. - and joy of joy's I didn't get one - signed straight in, was given my room key with a smile and a swipe of my credit card - could not have been better in that respect. "far away from town"
plus the power blew out and singed my hands it took the hotel 12 hours to come and get my power back on... Oh and I received a package with my concert tickets in it and they sent the envelope back I almost missed the show.. not great it was comfortable and the internet was free worked pretty good

Nothing to comment about the hotel cause everything just perfect!! However if you concern about the location, even though the hotel quite far from the city center, the bus service (no 145) just behind the hotel or you can walk around 10-15minutes to the nearest tram station to bring you directly to the central station (Line 2).

I was so pleased once I stepped into the hotel, pleased with it's design, aesthetic, pretty much everything visually appetizing about it; But then... I encountered rude reception person number 1, followed by days of different pretentious rude reception people, rude room service people, rude telephone people. "Good choice, but a bit removed from the city"
This hotel is no longer quite as hip as it used to be, but it's still very nice, with a pleasant and knowledgeable staff and an excellent restaurant. Rates are quite reasonable. Just know that you're about 20-30 minutes away from the main sights--but the tram ride into town takes you through some very nice neighborhoods.
"An ok hotel for a cheap price"
The hotel is around 15 mins with a buss in to Amsterdam. Rooms were nice and clean. The only thing i can say was kind of negative, was that most of the staff was moody except for 1 or 2. It was nothing around the hotel, but that we allready new before booking the room, so cant complain about that.

The hotel location is so bad . Eventhough the told me it is only 5 km from city center , people should walk for 15 min from last tram station to hotel and the in NO any shopping centre , shops around the hotel . this 15 min walk for travelers are terrible with luggage . Moreover no breakfast , IDONOT reccomend to any one .

The food and beverages were ridicolous overpirced. The food was okay nothing special. I think its disgusting how the hotel takes advantage of the fact that you are a captive audience due to the lack of other shops or restaurnats and feels it is appropriate to charge such inflated prices. "Nice Place"
Good comfortable and clean hotel, located in open green surroundings. Easy to reach from airport and also easy to go to city centre from hotel. Bus departs every 30 mts. Good price and comfort - can be preferred over the equally or higher priced not so good hotels near Museumplein
"Non-smoker gets a smoking room"
Actually, for the 8 hours I was at the hotel, I can say the guy who checked me in was excellent. I can deal with a smoking room and just sleep but there was ash on the floor. That's not great is it?
"Nice hotel outside of city core"
This hotel was very nice. The rooms have hardwood floors but they are VERY scratched up so it makes the room seem dirty when it isn't. The hotel staff were ok and if you have a car, parking is CRAZY expensive ($17/day). Somewhat close to public transportation (about 10min walk).
Perfectly nice hotel with location being the only real issue. Breakfast is a bit on the pricey side so try and get it included in your room rate if you can. Showers screen in the bathrooms could do with being upgraded as they don't really do a good job of stopping the water escaping onto the floor.

We stayed in this hotel as it was close to where my relatives lived in Amsterdam near Schipol Airport and we were there for a wedding. The hotel stay was very pleasant and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The first room we were given on the first floor, the wash basin was blocked and the staff were very helpful and changed the room for us immediately. […] Also my mum was very fussy and wanted a room at the top floor and that was quite easily fixed. The hotel is in a business area and about 10 mins walk to nearby bus and trams. Amazing hotel inside, very trendy, rooms are superb. Had to pay €17.50 euro per day which I didn't realise and the hotel was far from Amsterdam, bus in was ok but a pain on tram on way back. Overall very good

"Great value, nothing in neighbourhood"
The hotel is fairly new and is very clean, well maintained and the rooms are a good size and very comfortable. The room rates are very good value. City centre is about 25 minutes by tram or bus which is fine. The airport is also just 20 minutes by bus.The restaurant is fairly good value for dinner and lunch but the buffet breakfast is a monstrous €19. […] The location of the hotel is a fairly strange mix of multi-national company office blocks and further up the road, some fairly shabby looking flats. There is nothing in the way of shops, restaurants or any other services within reach of the hotel. However, I was there for the Amsterdam marathon and the hotel was ideal, with a bus to the Olympic stadium leaving from across the road. A lovely hotel, pleasant and helpful staff. Brewing facilities topped up in our room every day and room remade and cleaned every day. It was a pleasure to stay there. My only gripe would be that it's about a 10-15 minute walk to get the tram stop then 30 mins on the tram to get into the centre of Amsterdam. Enjoy Amsterdam but make sure you get the […] last tram back to where you are staying. Do not under any circumstances get a taxi. we did one night and it cost 26 Euros! "Halfway btwn airport and city centre"
My mother and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel as it was easily accessible by both tram and bus. Not being in the throng of the city meant the evenings were quiet and pleasant. The neighbourhood felt safe and the nearby park meant there were lovely birds songs and greenery aplenty. The hotel is outrageously expensive by Canadian standards so we ate […] elsewhere. For tea drinkers the hotel falls woefully sort of options as the tea/coffee service in the rooms is meagre and typically one has to ask for refills of supplies on a daily basis. If you don't yearn to be in the midst of all the clatter, noise and aromas of the city, this hotel is a good place to rest your weary self after a day of exploring either Amsterdam or , via train at the airport, any of the delightful towns and villages throughout the Netherlands. The rooms are plain but comfortable although their complimentary in room tea and coffee selection is poorly done. Me and five of my friends just got back from a weekend trip from amsterdam, before we set off i did some research into the hotel and read some reviews and to be honest i was dreading the hotel, 90% of the reviews seemed really negative and were mainly about how rude and unhelpfull the staff were and how its so hard to get in and out of the city. After […] my first day i can honestly say this coudnt be further from the truth. The staff are extreamly friendly and easy to talk too and go well out of there way to help you asmuch as they can. The quality of the service we recived was un matched. As far as getting into the city you walk out of the hotel down a straight road for about 5 minutes and arrive at a tram stop, get on the one that says "City Center" and its a pleasent 10minute journey full of things to look at on your way. Getting a taxi back to the hotel will cost around 20 Euro's but when theres more than 2 of you the cost is nothing. There was always a member of staff available if we needed anything or just there to greet us from coming back from a wild night out. The room's we were given were all brilliant, really comfy beds, tv that had around 20 channels with built in music from around 50 artists, Great bathroom and a lovly view. The maids would usually wait for us to leave the room before they came in to clean up but we always had a made bed with clean sheets and towels waiting for us when we got in. Honestly don't judge this hotel off all these old reviews, ive just returned from it and i struggled to find any faults with it! Everything about our stay in this hotel was wonderful. Very freindly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, English speaking TV channels, tea and coffee making facitities.
