This is a massive, all-inclusive, tropical resort. That means it's not brand-new, it gets a lot of use, and it's going to be humid (read: a bit damp). Hotel was over all very nice. It's only the second time I've stayed at an all-inclusive, but enjoyed the amenities. not without its faults to be sure. Toilets by the pool always clogged up, very nasty. They have very limited decent liquors on hand. Their house brands are a disaster! Location is superb, and is only reason to consider coming back. Have been to Riu Hotels in Negril, and Ocho Rios, and they are far better than this one.

Last year, we had great time there and enjoyed their show, local vendor's stands by the pool, and Aruban beer that they served us in the mini bar and at the restaurant. As soon as we arrived there was someone there to take our bags to the room. The front desk let us know where everything is (including all 5 restaurants). The room was nice, but the pool and beach were my favorite part. We had the hardest time deciding each day if we're relaxing on the beach or by the pool. We booked the suite and the room was beautiful. It had a jacuzzi on the balcony and a jacuzzi tub in the room, and the view was incredible. It was set back in the main hotel so it was not what you would call ocean front but rather ocean view and that was fine. We were very far from the router so accessing the internet was sketchy. We were NOT directed to our building and room upon check in (there are several buildings) and when we went back to find our room it was a look of revulsion. When I needed to make reservations for the restaurant’s the girls working those areas were not friendly at all. My fiancé and I are huge beach people. Living in NYC enables us to dine nicely and go out whenever we want so we didn’t care whether or not the restaurant and food were good but service plays a big role for me. The food was good and there is a lot of variety. When we needed to get something accomplished at the front desk area we both dreaded it. I was very disappointed with the room we Recived at Riu, with staying at several Riu Locations in cabo San Lucas as well as Cancun. There was holes in the walls, the mirror had red blotchy dots all over it... The covers for the Jets in the bathtub came of, scratching my ankle and making me blead a bit. RIU Palace Aruba has an impressive appearance- very “old world” looking, dramatic, romantic, well-maintained, cleanly. The junior suite has plenty of room for two, large bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, and balcony with spectacular view. Mini-bar is kept well-stocked and housekeeping is on point. The food at this resort is extremely impressive by all-inclusive […] standards- fresh, good variety, many healthy options, and many choices with local Caribbean flavor. There are “a la carte” restaurant options to choose from for dinner, but honestly we found the buffet more than satisfying and appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and flexibility of dining on our own time with no need for reservations. The staff is friendly and more than accommodating. My husband speaks Spanish, which is not at all needed, but I think was helpful. The pool is large. There is poolside drink service and a swim-up bar. The beach is spectacular!! White sand, clear, blue, warm water, perfect weather every single day of our stay. Aruba itself is a friendly island and RIU staff are very informative in helping you book tours and restaurant reservations outside of the resort, which we highly recommend doing during your stay in order to get a true feel for the authenticity of Aruba. I also highly recommend visiting the spa, where I had a fabulous massage. All in all, great resort, relaxed environment, good food, friendly staff, clean, well maintained rooms and grounds. The quality of the room was not at all what i would expect of this hotel. The bed was very hard, so much so we actually had to request foam pads for it (other guests had done so and recommended we did as well) The furniture was in bad condition such as broken dresser drawers and shades were actually rusty. The bedspread looked like it had been there […] since the hotel opened and the room constantly felt damp. The rest of the hotel was kept up pretty well. Most of the staff were freindly and helpful. Do not plan to sleep in, as if you want to dine at any of the restaurants you have to make a reservation that same day. The time to do this starts at 9am and there will be a long line (people actually started to line up in the lobby around 8:30). Reservations can be made for 6:30 or 9:00 pm only. That said the food at the buffet style restaurant was very good but you will get tired of eating every meal there. The pool is big and beautiful and pretty clean. If you want a chair by the pool you will need to get there by around 8:00am to 'reserve one' even though the sign says no reserving chairs everyone does. The beach is even worse if you want anything in the shade. This is not unique to this hotel however as I've found this to be the case at most resorts. Read more

Overall very disappointed. I was excited to stay at a RIU property as they look beautiful and palacial from the outside...the pool area was also beautiful but the interior was antiquated, old and needed updating. We had requested to stay on a high floor and were placed on 6 then told we could move the next day which turned into two days and at that […] point we were not okay with moving. Service regarding getting extra pillows, having a second chair placed on our patio and having a laundry bag/sewing kit in our room were not addressed. We had to call and practically beg the front desk to attend to these concerns. Reservations for meals had to be made in person prior to 9:30 am which was not convenient for us as we like to sleep in. Our bed linens were old and frankly did not seem well laundered. The room had an unpleasant odor when you first entered and the door did not close properly. The gym did not stay open 24 hours and the list goes on and on. Several other vacationers asked where we were staying and were impressed when we noted the RIU and I clearly indicated I would not stay at the property again and would have to be convinced to book and stay at another RIU property based on my experience of the RIU located in Aruba....very disappointed in the stay overall the best things were the pool and the jacquizzi tub in the bathroom. I left a letter regarding these concerns with the hotel manager and have yet to hear back. I plan to follow up with RIU's corporate offices Read more

This was our third stay @ a Riu property. We've previously stay at the Palace in Cancun and in Negril. The location of the Riu Palace in Aruba is perfect and the food is better than any all inclusive we have ever stayed at. Our room was a junior suite ocean front # 514. I emailed ahead and requested a room on the 8th, 9th or 10th floor. At check in […] I was told they could not accomodate the request. Our room was spotlessly clean with a phenomenal view and nice balcony but a little worn. The mini bar was always well stocked and all of our requests for extra waters and diet pepsi were accomadated. The pool chair situation is exactly as described here and I wasgetting up at 5 am to put out our towels. At 6 there were very few unreserved chairs and by 7:forget it. I even witnessed the staff taking chairs and moving umbrellas that the early risers had rederved for people who showed up at the pool at 9 or 10 and handed the staff a tip. There is no problem at the beach -- plenty of chairs and even though people reserve the palapas there is plenty of shade from the palm trees. The Riu Palace Aruba did not live up to our expectations based on our previous Riu experiences but it will not stop us from booking other Rius in the future or going back to Aruba which is one of the most beautiful islands we have been to.
