We greatly enjoyed our stay in Garmisch. The hotel was almost empty because of the season. They still put us in one of the least desirable rooms.

This hotel was worked for us because we were pirmarily there to paraglide and explore the area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. This hotel was nice but a little run down in the rooms but expected for the age of the bulding. I no wifi in the rooms only in the lobby.

We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel in beautiful Garmisch-Partinkirchen. The staff was friendly and helpful and spoke english very well. There was wi-fi in every room. The breakfast buffet was delicous, but a little pricy. The hotel has a beautiful view of the mountains and surrounding valley, but is a short distance from the town center.

The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The furnishings are a bit dated but the rooms are clean and spacious. The "family room" is actually two individual rooms. The might not be ideal for a family but it was perfect for adults.

My stay at this hotel was very enjoyable. The location, helpfulness of the staff, quality of food, and access to excellent walking paths made for a memorable experience. My only problem was a toilet issue the last evening, otherwise everything worked well. I would highly recommend this hotel for other guests.

Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl is a resort type hotel. It has great facilities and staff are very helpful. We had an enjoyable dinner there as well as breakfast. The hotel is about half a mile from Garmisch-Partenkirchen which is a nice small tourist town. The hotel is very convenient to visit sites in German/ Austrian Alpine region

Overall, the hotel was nice. Our bathroom lights constantly flickered and it surprised us that the cleaning personnel did not report it to get them fixed. We were only there two nights so it was fine. The pool was very nice and the location was good.

Pros: Beautiful view off of the patio. You can see all 4 peaks of the Alps. Very friendly and helpful staff. Dry and wet sauna. Pool was warm and relaxing. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Lift was essential for us because we were skiing all day and legs just could not take walking up 3 flights of stairs with bags. Cons: Forced "guest […] tax" that was offset by free use of mass transit and other services/businesses in town. Not close to skiing or other attractions but view more than makes up for that. Hotel is old but still in good shape. No hot tub. There is a bubble jet area in the pool, but a hot tub would have been perfect after skiing all day. Overall, this was a good hotel. We basically only needed a bed and a hot tub since we were only in Garmsich for 1 day to ski. We had our own transportation, so the guest pass was not needed and felt like we were being squeezed for a few extra Euro per guest per night. I would stay here again and would recommend it. The hotel is conveniently located on the outskirts of Garmisch. It's about a 75 minute drive from the Munich airport to the hotel. You should plan ahead and order a German road map from AAA and map out the directions as to which autobahns you will need to connect to in order to reach the hotel. The hotel offers easy access to all the must-see sights […] such as King Ludwig II's castles; the Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. The wood carvers capital of Oberammegau is also a short drive from the hotel. It's a 10 minute drive from the hotel to the center of town and there is a bus stop located a short walk from the hotel. Having visited Garmisch on several occasions while living and working in Germany, I was somewhat familiar with the area, but first time visitors should have no problem finding their way. Read more

I recommend going to Garmisch for skiing and snowboarding but stay some where else.The restaurant is not very good. We ate there 3 times during our five day stay for convienience due to the bus schedules. Each time we were dissapointed with our meals. On the last day we had breakfast before we left which was really dissapointing with old food on the […] buffet and only half of the food availble, with staff not willing to put any new food out. Das Hotel ist mit einem schoenen Pool und einem Wellnessbereich ausgestattet. Insgesamt bekommt man aber den Eindruck das Hotel braeuchte dringend eine Renovierung, einfach verglaste Fenster, Holztueren aus einem anderen Jahrhundert und auch die Einrichtung wie in einem alten Schloss. Man kann den Charme der guten alten Zeit auch ins Jahr 2012 uebertragen, […] ohne wirklich in den alten Sachen zu sitzen. Als kurzfristig ueber Hotel.com gebuchte Gaeste wurden wir in einen Nebenfluegel des Gebaeudes geschafft, in einem engen, unschoenen Zimmer, in dem ich mich selten so unwohl gefuehlt habe. Die Minibar im Zimmer war weder gefuellt, noch an den Strom angescholssen. Fuer den eigentl schoenen Pool, gab es an einem Montag abend auch keine Handtuecher mehr und auch die Becher fuer den Trinkwassertank suchte man vergeblich.
