"Great value, beautiful views"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We enjoyed the convenient location(right on the Endicott campus). Literally a short walk to the beach. Staff was helpful and friendly. Bed was listed as Queen size but it was actually a full size which was a bit small for the two of us. Otherwise, very enjoyable and would stay there again.
"Very nice hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Our son goes to college close by and we would stay here again. Very clean, staff was very nice and the breakfast was a bonus. Easy to get to and plenty of places to eat close by.

"Convenient and clean"
As i expected from reading reviews, the hotel was conveniently located, clean, had very small rooms. It was comfortable and served its purpose. I would stay there again if the price remained lower than other hotels in the area.
"Practical, but few perks"
First of all, the hotel was in a good location for me and it was what I needed for my business trip to Boston. I only stayed overnight. I was disappointed that there was no good workout room. There was only a small room with a bicycle and eliptical machine. I did not use them because I wanted to use the gym that apperently the guests had access to for […] a "nominal fee". Well, this gym had been closed down for a few months as I came to find out. The information in the little handbook in the room was not updated with this information. In addition, there was mention of a shuttle service to the airport through a third company but this also had been discontinued so taxi was the only way to get to the airport. There is a little sandwich shop in the hotel and free wi-fi. The hotel room was however pretty cramped. My guest bedroom in my apartment is bigger then the hotel room + bathroom. There is only a shower, no bathtub. TV is LCD and nice, free HBO is good. Bed was clean but there was not a comforter. I find it hard to sleep with just sheets on top. I need something heavier on top to feel comfortable. I asked for a late checkout and they were accomodating to that. Read more
"good location but minimal frills"
hotel staff were very friendly. they do put a $50 extra hold on your credit card for incidentals (even though there isn't even an honor bar) so not sure what that is for. Also building is shared with a ymca. My floor and room had heavy chlorine odor which was initially very irritating for my allergies. otherwise the room is clean. bathroom small but […] serviceable. fine for price. Read more
"Austere, but priced right"
Hotel is well-located in the Back Bay. Room and hallways were very clean, but austere. Wife said she felt she was staying in a college dorm room (well, bldg WAS a former YWCA!). But price was right in expensive Boston. Just don't expect plush.
"140 Clarendon"
If check-in is at 3:00pm, do not show up even a minute early. They will not let you check in. Also, place a pillow between the bed and the night stand, they are very close and you may hit yourself in the middle of the night if you turn. Ouch! Otherwise great stay. Fantastic location.

"first time to boston"
This was our first trip and didn't know the lay of the land. This hotel was perfect placement as far as being in the middle of both directions we were headed to. The room was definately small but we did not stay there but to sleep. A workout facility would have been nice but we did get plenty of walking in. Parking for the hotel was not cheap. I expected […] more of a discount on the parking or at least a heads up of the expense. All in all we were happy but may try other hotels if we go back in the future. Read more
"I will not recommend Hotel 140"
For the money I paid, Hotel 140 was a terrible experience. The room was tiny; the bed was butted up against a standing closet; the bathroom was so poorly designed: a slanted shelf (things slid off to the floor), one light on the left, sink tucked too far under shelf, shower head that put out an insultingly tiny spray of water; the walls were thin; the […] bed was a trampoline-style joke (and tiny); no room service; the whole experience left me feeling cheated. I will NEVER recommend Hotel 140. Read more
"A real hidden secret"
Great location, and all required standard services are provided. You will not be able to beat the price-quality of this hotel in this area of Boston. Great for those who need a good place to stay and could not care less about the prestige or 'luxury' aspects of hotels.
"Great Value in Great Location"
This is perfectly located hotel, convenient to all major attractions and the business districts. It's also very close to public transit, both rail and bus. There's a grill that serves breakfast, and the lobby is clean and bright and nicely furnished. The room was small, but perfect for one person--might be a squeeze for two. It was spotless, tastefully […] decorated and comfortable. I would try to stay here again, if I saw a good rate. It's also near many bars and restaurants. You can't go wrong here. Read more
"Great kept secret"
This hotel is right in the heart of things, has very comfortable beds and clean and efficient. rooms. The only drawbacks are that there is no desk in the room and the street was a bit noisy in the morning. But otherwise the value can't be beat.

"good hotel"
Hotel 140 is a good old fashioned hotel and it was comfortable. I only wish it had a good sit down somewhat up scale resturant. The resturant that is there now serves a good breakfast.
"Super cute hotel!!"
It was very small and cute.... located very close to newbury and boylston street... hotel service very friendly and helpful... had a great time!

"Hotel 140- Boston"
The hotel was convenientlyt loccated and comfortable. I would stay there again.
"Clean, easy, central."
If the hotel can keep the rates down under $100/nt, I can't imagine it not doing great business. The rooms are small, but just what the business traveler needs. They're clean, comfortable, and a super quick T ride to downtown.

"Clean, efficient hotel"
Enjoyed the location and its convenience, good clean and efficient rooms, only issue was very low shower pressure and sundries shop in lobby closed early evening.
"Great spot"
Terrific find -- a bit tiny but the service and location can't be beat! Made it my go to spot when working in Boston.
"Cheap = Small"
If you want a tiny room with a television that was build in 1997, this hotel is perfect for you.
"Hotel 140 Boston - affordable and great location"
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel 140. Two of the three front desk people that I spoke with were extremely helpful and nice. The one girl who worked in the evening did not call me back after I told her that the bed was broken. I understand that she was dealing with some irate customers, but I believe that every customer deserves a […] call back. I was actually able to fix the bed on my own. The bed frame was flimsy and just needed to be clicked in place. The location, neighborhood, and the overall value of the hotel make this place top notch. Remember that this is just a place to sleep or rest your head while you are visiting Boston. Don't expect five star service or a spa, indoor pool, or Michelin rated restaurant here. I'd stay and recommend to my friends! Read more

i spent two nights in the hotel for travelling around Boston. The receptionist was very hospital and helpful, giving me the whole direction and recommondation of the tourist routine, for it was my first trip to Boston. "Great Hotel for the Price"
As a native Bostonian returning for a night in the city, I was pleased to stay in the old YWCA which is now a hotel, apartments, and theatre. Upon arrival, I was upgraded to the family suite. The staff were very nice and friendly to me. It's a perfect location if you need to get around town as the T is right next door. The hotel validated my parking […] claim for the garage which is steps away from the front entrance. All in all, a nice experience. Read more
"Good for price"
We were assigned for a room on 8th floor - spacious and large bathroom. Some reviews said no coffee maker, etc., but our room had coffee maker, fridge, and microwave. Not so noisy either as it was written on the previous review (stayed from Wed-Sun). Great location. I was a bit worried the way staff answered my call a few days prior to arrival (lack […] of knowledge, info, etc, about hotel), but front desk people were very nice and helpful throughout our stay. "Hotel 140 in Boston"
An OK hotel in walkable distnace to Hyne Cinvention Center. Restaurant operated indepentently; no room service and no supper meals.Shower sprays weak. Rating 3 to4 out of 5.
"smallest room I have ever stayed in"
the room was clean but very small. Convenient location for downtown Boston
"Good for Cheap"
The hotel was a little difficult to find and it reminded me of staying at a hostel because there was a walk through restaurant attached and half of the building is apartments with full time residents. The fitness center has two machines which was not too impressive and the rooms are fairly small, but the price was good. The staff was not very friendly […] and seemed unprofessional at times (texting or talking on their cell consistently), but the neighborhood has some good places to eat. Read more

"Worst Hotel Experience EVER!"
Do not read any other review, Do not try to trick yourself into thinking you can live with a little less for the dollars you might save. This place SUCKS. Sorry no other way to put it. Their "Standard" room includes a BED. No lie, No Desk, No Dresser, No nothing just a bed. The room was 8' wide the BED was 7.5 ft wide, You could not walk around the […] bed to get to teh night stand where the ONLY electrical outlet was. The free wifi is for crap as there is NO WHERE to set up your laptop to work. I had to crawl over the TWIN sized bed to get to thenightstand where the electrical outlet was, andthe clock radio. Oh and There is no insulation in thee walls, so you constantly hear your neighbors bathroom noises, there is no insulation around teh door fso all the hallway light leaks into the room at night and their FIrealarm senson ON THE CEILINg has 2 led lights that flash off and on every minute or so. "Price and Location"
For the cost of the room...it's a steal! The location is right smack in the middle of everything and we were able to keep our car in the garage the 2 days we were there. The hotel is comfortable to sleep in, although very minimal; reminded me of a college dorm room. Quite small with little room to move around. However, we knew this ahead of time and […] were prepared. It wasn't a big deal because we only expected to be there 2 days and a place to sleep. No frills for sure! There was an emergency alarm that went off at 1:30 a.m. and we had to call down to discover it was a false alarm. Then we received a knock at the door at 4a.m. for a wake up call we didn't request. We just counted these two incidents as a small inconvenience. We've already recommended Hotel 140 to a couple we met on the road who was looking for what we were....a place to sleep that's affordable in a great location in Boston. Read more
"Hotel 140 review."
We found the hotel personnel to be courteous and friendly. However, they appeared to new on the job and not familiar with local restaurants. Our room could have had a more comfortable chair. We had minor problems with an electrical outlet, the sink stopper and luggage rack. The hotel is located convenient to transportation. On a scale of 1 to 10 overall […] I give it a 6. Read more
"Moderate priced great location"
The room was small, and there was no desk to work at, but if all you are going to do is sleep there, the location is great, short walk to the commons, Newberry street, Hines Convention center, Coply etc. Very clean and quite.

"Great location, small rooms"
Great location and close to transport. The room was boxy but comfortable. The wifi internet kept disconnecting but it was free.
Smallest hotel room that I have ever seen. Internet connection was an adventure to find and use. Positives were location and room cleanliness.
"Simple, affordable, courteous accomodations"
Hotel 140 is in a convenient location within walking distance of Fenway Park , Copely Square and Newbury Street. The staff at the front desk were extremely accomodating. We were upgraded to a complementary "queen" room which was a little confusing because it contained a double bed which made we wonder about the size of the standard room. We could have […] had more airconditioning but chose not to complain and on mentioning it at checkout were told that a simple fix existed had they known. The staff seemed genuinely distressed that we had not been completely comfortable. For the price, location and staff, I would stay here again in a minute. Read more
"Taj Hotel in Boston"
Clean and comfortable room. Nice view overlooking park. Near sites, one block from subway. You can walk to many places of interest. Free NY Times, bottle of water. Only problem was time it took to check out. I happened to be behind a guy who had problems with his bill.
"Hotel 140"
Nice if you were looking for a room at the YWCA. It's funny they never mentioned that it's a former Y. But it was close to the South End in Back Bay across the street from the Hancock Building and the price was right but it was a disappointment.
"Great value"
I found the hotel to be a great value - the location in addition to the level of cleanliness and up to date appearance of the rooms completely met my expectations for the price we were paying for the room. I would have prefered that the room have a full tub / shower rather than just a shower, but it was no big deal. Also, the hotel has a work out room […] with a couple of areobic machines in it... that I didn't see anywhere in the hotel's literature. But, I did walk by it on the 6th floor. Who knew? I would definately stay at Hotel 140 again and refer friends as well. Read more
"Good hotel, great location"
Nice hotel. Its located right in the middle of Backbay near a few different T lines, the park, the theater district and a bunch of nice restaurants. "Happy visit to Boston"
Excellent location, small room (big enough for a bed which is the only reason we needed a hotel). Our room was clean with a window that would open (partially) which was great because it was on the cool side outside and the covers were thick. Bathroom only had a shower and TV was small. Bed was comfortable and room was dark, exactly what we like in […] a hotel room. We walked or caught the T to every location we wanted to visit. Only issue was on the way to the airport the driver waiting (recommended) in the hotel charged $40 to get to the airport a 10 min ride at 5:30 am. We would have ridden the T if we knew, our fault for not negotiating price prior to getting in the car. Read more

"Excellent location, clean room, comfy bed"
Although the room may have been a little on the small side, this hotel is really wonderful. The location in a safe part of Back Bay, was great for us. We were close to the Fine Arts Museum, and close to the Freedom Trail and downtown, waterfront. Boston is a good walking town, and from where we stayed at Hotel 140, we did not need to use the subway […] to do our site seeing. Morning coffee, complimentary was always fresh. Staff is considerate. Good price for a wonderful gem of a hotel. Read more
