"Clean hotel 10 mins from Venice's main bus station"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The included buffet breakfast consisted of eggs, cold meat, cereal and fresh baked croissants. This hotel is great value! It is a 10 minute walk from the Mestre bus/train station, next door to a supermarket and close to kebab/pizza restaurants and some pubs. It is very easy to get into central Venice. There is a bus right across the street that comes every 10 mins and takes about 12 mins to get to the main bus station in Venice. It costs a little over a euro one way and you can get the ticket at the reception (along with vaporetta tickets). Keep in mind though that st.mark's square is about a 35 min walk from Piazalle Roma ( the bus station). Unless you want to lug your bags through the narrow, busy streets and (many) staircases of Venice and pay a fortune for a dump, I would recommend staying in the Mestre area and this hotel was great value for the money.

Loved this hotel. Best price and great amenities. I am a bit of a hotel snob and this one delivered great

We stayed 1 night only and were very happy with the hotel. Dont forget to get you key from Hotel Luca as the Casa Dolce has no reception. The feeling of the hotel is as you were resident of Venice. We highly recommend it.

For visitors arriving by rail or by bus, Cannaregio is Venice’s front door and the start of the Grand Canal. It sees a lot of passing traffic in terms of canal boats and visitors en route to San Marco, but is otherwise quieter and less touristy than central Venice. Points of interest include the Ghetto area (the original Jewish enclave) with its museums and the majestic Ca d’Oro palace, one of the iconic buildings of the Grand Canal.

"Hold your breath"
We made this reservation last minute with a very brief internet connection. If you have more time to look around, do so. Earlier in the week we had really enjoyed 2 nights at a neighboring hotel. This hotel had a very pleasant man working the front desk, but once we got up in to the hall on our floor the stench of sewage overcame us. Our bedroom was […] much better, but in the morning our bathroom also smelled of septic. It was horrible. If we hadn't already had a different hotel booked, we would have gotten one. Read more
The hotel has shared bathroom which were very clean and excellent hot water pressure in the shower. The included breakfast was a nice surprise and was in par to any major hotels in the city. Its the closest hotel to the train station without spending a fortune.
"Convenient location, excellent value...."
...but mediocre service. We chose this hotel because it is VERY close to the train station in Venice, and we had to leave very early after our stay. Compared to other hotels located directly in Venice, this was an excellent value! However, the first room they assigned to me had not been cleaned...and the next two we tried hadn't been cleaned either! […] Eventually they were able to provide me a room, but that was a bit of a hassle. Wifi is a little slow, but available. For the value, cleanliness, and location, I would recommend this hotel again. "Close to Central Rail Station- Loud Church Bells"
Locations was convenient. Not very comfortable beds. Don't bring that much luggage, only stairs to get to room. If you like to be up early you won't mind the church bells going off in the morning for what seemed to be around 10 minutes. Overall, friendly staff and and clean rooms.
"Hotel nearby Piazzale Roma in Venice"
The hotel was adequate but not comfortable. The worst part of the stay was that we left very early in the morning and stopped by the desk just to return our key. We were then told that we owed a 6 Euro "Venetian tax" that we were never told about. The desk associate would not charge it to the credit card that I had used to pay for the hotal, cash only. […] I doubt very much that it was a legitimate tax. I would NOT recommend this hotel! Read more
"More like a hostel"
Like everyone else...you definitely get what you pay for. Go in with low expectations (hostel-like). Rooms are very dinky. We knew about the shared bathrooms going in to the stay. Although we did not know they didn't have an elevator..which was so exhausting to carry heavy bags and luggage up 3 flights of stairs. The room was not that clean and we found […] a few strands of hair within our sheets! It was gross. BUT we have to say, we really loved our tiny balcony in the hotel room. It was definitely a nice touch to make up for the lack of space in the room. I would suggest it ONLY if you wanted to save money and have a good location. Read more
"Excellent Value"
For the price, I doubt it can be beat. After taking a bus from Marco Polo airport to Piazzale Roma, we only had to walk about three minutes to the hotel. The waterbus was about 100 meters away so transportation from the hotel to almost anywhere in the city was extremely easy. The room was small by American standards but the price was representative […] of the room size. There was a heater but no cold air conditioning so we had to leave the door to the beautiful little balcony open most of the time. This was not a problem in the least however as the cool night air was perfect. Breakfast was surprisingly good and they served free coffee and espresso each morning. We actually preferred the breakfast at the hotel to the shops outside. There is no meat at hotel breakfast but this seemed to be the case for all restaurants in the city. Unless I suddenly become super rich one day I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Venice. Read more
"Big room & very convenient location"
Our room was VERY large & conveniently located to the train station in Venice. We got a room with a shared hall bathroom. The room & bathrooms were very clean. We were allowed to keep our bags at the hotel before we checked in & after we checked out.

"Disgusting, DO NOT STAY HERE"
I stayed here on my honeymoon. The room they gave us was on the third floor. There was no elevator and we had to lug heavy suitcases. The staff was rude and mean. The buffet was tiny and had cold and stale food. We came home our first night to find ants in our room. They moved us to another oom with our own bathroom. Later, they accused us of having […] ants in our suitcases. I spent hours cleaning my suitcase. DO NOT STAY HERE. Read more
"Convenient"
Easy access to and from the central train station and major attractions were a big plus on this location. Easy access to the Grand Canal. Quiet location.
"Venice for cheap: what you pay for is what you get"
4 of us stayed one night at the Hotel. It's located right next to the train station, to where we arrived early morning, so the location was the most convenient. The hotel management was generous both at arrival and at departure, for letting us to leave the bags at the hotel or refresh in the lobby bathroom, so that we could go off sightseeing. On the […] other hand, they did not have a secure dedicated area for the bags, we were told to "leave them under the stairs" in the back. Worked out, we found our bags untouched at both occasions. They could only give us rooms on separate floors at check in. We only found out there that the bathrooms were not in the room, but on the other end of the hall. There is no elevator, which is not unusual in Venice, but definitely not for people with preexisting conditions. None of our rooms were ready at 1pm, and the maid threw a nasty fit when we tried to get in (we met her while she was making a personal phone call from one of the guestrooms). We were given different rooms after some negotiation with the front desk. The man there was trying to be helpful, but there is no helping: the place is badly managed. Bathroom situation: if you paid for a room with bathroom, you are given a key to a private bathroom somewhere in the building. It has a toilet, a small sink, and the tiniest shower stall ever (best fit for children under 5). The public bathroom that every floor has is generously sized, and has a bidet, but may be used by anyone in the building. Our room was a double bed, our 2 aunts were given a room with two single beds. Their room was so narrow, like a closet, that the door could not be open all the way because the bed was in the way. Both rooms had air conditioning, much welcome in the extreme heat of August. Our beds were extremely soft, not recommended to anyone with back problems. Other than a small TV and an out of order safe, there were no other amenities or even furniture in the room. Hallway lights were on a sensor that tu Read more

"Don't expect much"
If you don't expect much then you won't be to disappointed. SHARED BATHROOMS was not for us. Breakfast ok but limited to one cup of coffee???
"Cozy hotel with a perfect location by train"
The hotel is very close to the main train station in Venice. I had a pleasant stay.
"Excellent Location, Poor Value"
Great location, right next to the Venice train station and WaterBus boarding points. Like everything else in Venice the hotel is very poor value for money. Venice WaterBus pass is a waste of money unless you plan to make a lot of trips (expect waiting for WaterBus at each boarding point) Hotel Pros : Nice continental breakfast, very courteous and […] helpful staff Hotel Cons : Small rooms, tight bathrooms, mosquitos, inadequate toileteries\amenities in bathrooms, rooms need to be renovated\updated Comprable to a good motel in U.S Read more
"Good Location"
The only thing this hotel has is a good location. It's right in Venice and you can walk everywhere. However, I would only recommend you stay here if there are no other options in Venice. The hotel is not very clean, the rooms are extremely small, the service is impersonal and their breakfast is horrible.
"Warning. Do not stay here"
I am warning the world. Do not stay at this hotel. I booked room with a private bath and got a room with a shared bath. There was no internet or air conditioning. The staff got me a room with a private bath the second night unfortunately it had no water. If you want normal things such as AC, water, and a private bath, you better go somewhere else.

"Good location !"
Clean, close from train station (2 minutes). quite street!.
"Great hotel and even better location!"
We enjoyed our short stay here. It's close to the train station, but far enough away that you get all the riff raff.
"Great deal for Venice"
Hotel does not have an elevator. 4 floors. Have to walk up all them with the luggage. Hotel is right around the corner from the train station. Great location. About 15 minutes to Rialto Bridge and 30 minutes to St Marcos Square. The breakfast was really disapointing. The coffee was good. Not to many options. All the croissants had apricot jam in them. […] Hotel has air conditioning. The shared bathrooms are big. Read more
Hotel was okay. No hot water was disappointing. Location was okay down a narrow street but well traveled.
"Good hotel"
Very close to the venice main train station, which means it is very far from Doge's Palace. Takes half an hour (by boat ofcourse) to get there. Clean hotel. I guess price was expensive but compared to others with water view it may not be. Good staff.

"Convenient location only advantage"
The convenient location was the only good thing about this place. Very small rooms, no elevators to the third floor, their definition of a private bathroom was three doors down the hall. Free breakfast was on overrated continental breakfast
"Great find for the money spent"
Despite minor problems such as non-working safe deposit box and some power issues that had been resolved fairly quickly, this hotel is located perfectly and provides for the nice base right in the middle of everything. Shared bathrooms were clean for the most of the time (some factors just can't be controlled!). The biggest disadvantage is the absence […] of elevators, and stairs are quite steep! Great hotel otherwise! Read more

"SMALL ROOMS!"
This is clean, cheap enough & near the train station, but if you're over 50, better be sure you're on the first floor & get a bathroom in your room. Breakfast nice, and all were friendly despite the holiday crowds.
"Avoid Avoid Avoid!!!"
This hotel should add an "s" into the name because its basically a hostel. It's location is nice and the staff is friendly but that is where the good review stops. The bathrooms are shared at the end of the hall. The smells in the corridors are god awful. They cut at every corner and it shows. The breakfast is bad and cheap as well. I understand some […] cereal and bread rolls is enough but the orange juice out of the machine was clear because it was just water. They also overprice everything. 5 Euros for an hour of internet? Come on! They act like you are staying at the Ritz. Do not be fooled by the nice lobby, it's all a ruse to cover up how bad this place is. Read more
"Alloggi Agli Artisti"
This hotel felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Room was decent but bathroom and shower down the hall and shared with 5 other rooms on this floor. Inexpensive, in a great location, but I definitely would not stay there again nor would I recommend it to others. The bathroom situation, the absence of an elevator and the absence of anyone to help with […] getting my luggage up the stairs makes it a loser to me. Fortunately, we only stayed one night as we began a cruise the next day. Dianne, Del Mar, California Read more

"Hidden gem"
There is no vivid sign on this hotel. Once you get into this street, walk down couple of buildings and it will be on your right hand side. Please bare in mind: this hotel DOES NOT have an elevator! If you are like me, and pack a big suitcase full and heavy, you'll have a hard time up the stairs. Luckily my husband is strong and he carried my suitcase […] up the stairs to the 2nd floor. The room is clean. The remote control did not work at first...but the receptionist was nice and fixed it for us. Also, the room comes with breakfast! No room service...but they have pastries, coffee, juice, and cereal in the lobby. The location is perfect. It's a block away from the train station. This was the most important for us as we've traveled though Italy by train. All in all, a good choice. Read more
"Can't beat the price to be right in Venice!"
Overall this hotel was great! We really wanted to stay right in Venice and this was an inexpensive way to do it. We shared a bathroom, which, honestly was not a big deal and the convenience of being on the island was worth it. Our room was comfortable, the staff was good and breakfast was fine. Recommended if you are looking for a cost effective way […] to stay on the island. Read more
"Very Good Value for Venice"
The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room was very clean and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. All this for half the price of other Venice hotels made this the best value on my trip. If you are a budget traveler this is a perfect choice.

"Great location, good value for the money"
This hotel is a 3 minute walk from the train station. Breakfast was delicious with pastries, cereal, bread. Overall the room was clean and well maintained. Problems we had: except that the AC in our room wasn't working. The two single beds were made up as a double bed, and we couldn't get single sheets so had to make do with folded double sheets. "1 block from the Venice Train Station"
Convenient hotel for the price. Only 1 block from the train station. Have strong legs because there is no elevator and you will have to climb the stairs to get to your room. Unfortanely, we had the top floor (4th). Good thing my wife and I are in decent shape and left the big luggage in Rome for this 1 night excursion. The hotel was nice. Had to pay for internet and didn't have an elevator and we were on the 4th floor. It's super close to the train and bus station, but it's on the outer edge of Venice so to get to anything is a walk. Good breakfast in the morning. Would recommend
"Alloggi Agli Artisti in Venice, Italy"
Everything is OK for young people BUT No evelator could be problem for old people (>60) to carry luggage(50lbs) to room (4th floor, check in) and down (check out).
"Definately recommend it!!"
We arrived in Venice at 6 in the morning and were just hoping that the hotel staff would let us leave our luggage there until check in time which was at noon. And they were very nice about it and said that we could come in around 9 and check in. Not only that we had breakfast on the day we checked in and the next eventhough we stayed only one night […] which could be money saving if you're on a budget. The rooms were clean, the location was very convenient (3-5 minute walk from Venice's Santa Lucia train station, and water buses were right by the station as well.) The only thing to keep in mind is that the bathrooms were shared (but were very clean and each floor had 4-6 bathrooms) and there was no elevator. Neither of these were a bother to us at all. We were allowed to keep the luggage there after we checked out as well. All in all I highly recommend it for the value in Venice. Read more
"Fine for one-night stay"
Though we paid extra for the private bathroom, it wasn't connected to the bedroom so we still had to lock/unlock while we went down the hall to the bathroom. The room and bathroom seemed cleaner than the cramped entrance and narrow stairway. Light but filling breakfast which consisted of croissants and cappuccinos. Thus: fine for a one-night stay but […] if we were spending any longer in Venice, we would prefer a hotel with less "hostel" accommodations. Read more
"Location location"
If you would like to be close to buses, trains and vaporettos, this is the place, three hundred yards from the buses to airport, one hundred yards from train station, yet in Venice proper, this is the place. However, rooms are tiny and cramped unless you have triple or quad. Breakfast is excellent, mosquitoes frequent
"Just right!"
I was very impressed with the location of the hotel, and it was very easy to find coming from the bus station. the area we stayed in had plenty to offer and was just by a vapperetto stop, so it was easy to get around! The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that there was never enough food at breakfast!
"Great for just sleeping"
Very close to the train, bus, and vaporetto stations. Room is small but adequate. The double bed was really just two twins pushed together so there was a distinct ridge down the middle of the bed. We were only there for one night and only slept and showered. It was sufficient for our needs.
