Allamanda Beach Hotel - Christ Church 13.07371, -59.56571

We were lucky to get a good discount when booking this hotel, however, if we had have paid anymore, we would have been very disapointed. The pool and gardens are lovely and the hotel is directly on the beach but the rooms are in need of a good spruce up! There was no convenience store or entertainment as advertised but there is a very basic supermaket nearby.

We had been denied entry to our Carnival Cruise Ship due to not having a Brazilian Visa( Carnivals lack of cummunication to us about visa). We chose to meet the ship at Barbados after getting our visa. Calling Hotels.com, we found that many hotels were filled. The Alamonda was a two star with vacancies. In a pinch, we took it. WOW! From the entry at the Desk to our departure to the ship, we were constantly pleased with the employees kindness, the hotels willingness to help us, and the cleanliness and location of the hotel. We were so impressed we will return to Barbados for a future vacation and stay at this hotel.

Allamanda is located in a great location on the water and has a new boardwalk which takes you to the famous Rocky Beach. Across the street there are restaurants, fax/internet store. There are two types of room, the cheaper one is adequate the pricier one is better. Rooms come with a kitchenette and free parking. Overall not a bad value.

The room was next to the road which made it very noisy. It sounded like the door and windows were opened. The bed was very bad. We had no soap in the bathroom. Hair all over the floor.

nice location on the beach, near tons of restaurants. Good for price, but Room was a bit cheap feeling - sparse, basic furniture, small TV bolted to wall, poor lighting, old bathroom, really old looking kitchenette area. It is quite functional as a room, though not romantic, or cozy or cute or plush. The bar area is for women oriented women, so nice place for lesb. Fantastic beach area out front. All in all, A gay and Festive location.

The Hotel was everything I had expected. I enjoy simplicity, and value in a resonably priced hotel. Allamanda came through with flying colors, and the staff was freindly.

The location is very convenient to eating places and night-life. Even the beach is right outdoors. For the price, at least during low season, it is highly recommended. Did not have a porter or elevator and I had to lug my bags up stairs, in the rain. TV was too small (or too far from the bed) and there was a bar next door that made a bit of noise. All in all it was fine though, especially for an overnight

HELLO TRAVELERS: WE BOOKED THIS HOTEL AT WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A GREAT PRICE WITH AN OCEAN VIEW [LOVELY THE VIEW BY THE WAY]. BUT...WHEN WE ARRIVED TO OUR ROOM, LITTLE DISAPPOINTMENT: AIR CONDITIONER WITH PNEUMONIA OR EMPHYSEMA MEANING ALMOST NO COOLING AT ALL (REMEMBER, SUMMER IN THE CARIBBEAN). WE COMPLAINED AT THE FRONT DESK ABOUT IT BUT NO ONE FIXED THE PROBLEM [THEY WERE VERY GENTLY, BY THE WAY]. THE BATHROOM WAS CLEAN BUT NOT WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FOR THE PRICE. THE DOOR TO THE BALCONY DIDN'T FIT IN THE FRAME-DOOR (?!). VERY GOOD FOOD INSIDE THE HOTEL BUT PRICEY (AND OUTSIDE TOO!!). RIGHT NOW [08/17/08] YOU CAN NOT GO TO THE PORTION OF THE BEACH IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL BECAUSE THEY ARE BUILDING A SIDEWALK ALONG THE BEACH AND THERE IS A LITTLE FENCE THAT YOU CAN NOT CROSS, SO YOU WILL HAVE TO WALK 10 MINUTES TO GO TO A BEACH. SO, IF YOU ARE ON A BUDGET, LOOKING FOR A CARIBBEAN ADVENTURE AND DON'T CARE TO MUCH ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE STAYING, COOL, THIS THE PLACE FOR YOU, NICE LOCATION, GOOD OCEAN VIEW, ETC. BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING THE BEST FOR YOUR BUCKS, YOU ARE TRAVELING WITH FAMILY, AND YOU ARE USED TO CERTAIN LEVEL OF COMFORT, KEEP LOOKING. REMEMBER THE SAYING: YOU WILL HAVE WHAT YOU PAID FOR. DON'T GO CHEAP IN HERE.

Everything about the Allamanda was great. The atmosphere was lovely, I felt at home. The location was great. I had easy access to everything. I think the appliances could be updated but overall I would stay again. Love The Allamanda looking foward to going back.

The staff was extremely friendly. The restaurant food was delicious.But the room itself has a lot to be desired. The only paper product in the entire room was toliet tissue. No waste basket liners, no paper cups, no facial tissue. The bath towels wasn't in the best condition. And the TV, this was the smallest television I have every seen, the size of a shoe box.
