We stayed here for one night and was happy with our choice. Great price for a great room. Location was great, off the highway and very close to Manhattan Blvd and the pier- probably perfect walking distance but we didn't have the time to try the walk. Our room was clean and spacious for the two of us, beds were really comfortable with many big pillows. […] Free parking in an underground garage was great but very tight space. We got lost finding the hotel because iphone GPS told us very odd directions. When lost, I called the front desk and the attendant did not know that Sepulveda = the PCH = Highway 1!!! That blew my mind. Free cookies upon checkin somewhat made up for that. Also the complimentary breakfast was great, many choices and tasted good too. Awesome that it ended at 10 on weekends for us late sleepers. Our only complaint was that the WIFI did not work at all inside our room. It worked in the lobby but not in the room. I found out at checkout we needed to enter a password for the WIFI however the connection was so bad that we couldn't even access on our phone to enter a password. Big thumbs down on this, as I am sure it is an easy fix for the hotel to make! Read more

Stayed for one night while touring local colleges with my daughter. Location was convenient to beach and sights. Good price for the area. Room had a musty sweat sock odor that necessitated some airing out. Towels were less than adequate and needed replacing.

Stay was fine. Location is pretty good, not at all far from the beach, and the lobby is nice. A few issues I had: I couldn't get warm at night. The room never really felt CLEAN or that people from the outside couldn't see in unless the blackout curtains were drawn, and then the room was pitch black. The overall experience was OK, however, I had to ask for more towels as they only left 2 in the bathroom and they were not very big. Also, I thought they didn't smell fresh. Nice location. Breakfast buffet was good. Overall for me a 3.

Loved this hotel; got cookies on check-in, staff was friendly, good sized rooms that were clean and comfortable with some kitchen amenities. Location a bit far from the water, but easy access routes. Covered parking that is free was a really nice feature for us as well.

Great location but room needs to be better maintained. Light fixtures barely emanate light. Bathroom sink very small. Drano had to be purchased to clear the clogs in shower and sink. Complimentary breakfast better than average. Location to Manhattan Beach justifies the price but average room just a notch or two above Motel 6.

Normally I am a sound sleeper, but at this hotel I heard other people's toilets flushing - loudly - throughout the night. 20+ times - really loud. This hotel uses those new water-efficient toilets that sound like a jet engine when they flush.... Make the toilets quieter and this place is really nice, otherwise.

Cons: place felt deserted, rooms are narrow and deep, with no window on the far end giving you a "cave" feel, awkward location of TV (done in order to be seen from […] both living area and bedroom, but definitely awkward), no pool, poor signage making place tough to locate. Very solid hotel in the Manhattan beach area. Rooms were small but comfortable and the hot breakfast was significantly better than average. Access is somewhat problematic due to mid-block location but free parking is a great advantage in LA.

This hotel was definitely a great place to stay at for my time in L.A., the room was very clean, beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was very helpful and attentive. This hotel itself is good, rooms was very comfortable, nice and clean. Breakfast is ok, but not good. The main issue is the noise of the traffic on the roadside. Sleeping is almost impossible. If i had to stay there again i would insist on a room at the back side or take another hotel.

This was our first time in a Hawthorne suites. Had a great room which was handicap accessible. Breakfast was plentiful though crowded. Parking garage was tight but convenient. However the driveway is easy to miss. Was 20 min to downtown LA, 5 minutes to the beach. Highly recommended.

Good location. If you like to walk and hate to fight for parking,this place is 20 mins to Manhattan beach. The complimentary breakfast is good. l think the room needs a little decor (painting) and bathroom has no trash can. Not really a big deal but having those things in the room would be good. Overall, we had a good stay.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights during August, we had 2 rooms - a double queen for teenage boys, and a king suite with pull out sofa for us & a 6 year old. Rooms were large, very clean and we enjoyed them very much - got no complaints from the teenagers which says a lot! The staff was very nice and accommodating, the hotel reception helped us out […] in planning the routes for sightseeing, how to get about the city and helpful tips. Breakfast was well stocked and although the inner room was a bit crowded, the courtyard seating was great and always had room available. The hotel is well situated 2 minutes from the 405, which allowed for easy access to driving to the main sights, and later to continue to San Diego. there are a bunch of restaurants ranging from family style to more up scale within a 2 mile radius, so overall the location was perfect for our needs. we would stay here again, and have recommended the hotel to friends who are headed to LA .
