Travel Inn - Rutland

I booked this room because it was cheap and conveniently located. Having read the reviews I wasn't expecting much...however the reviews can't come close to describing just how filthy the Travel Inn is. Mouse droppings all over the bathroom, mold throughout, a chair so disgusting & covered in stains we just laughed at it...the only reason we stayed is […] because there were no rooms left in town and we brought our sleeping bags so we could sleep on top of the comforters...no way would i even pull the sheets back to see the treasures that lay beneath. Gross!!!! The Orkin man was outside when we arrived. Then there was urine on the LID (not the seat) of the toilet seat! Also, only a space heater. The guy was pretty nice...

If your just looking for a place to stay then this is fine. It's no frills. They don't make your bed and we had a space heater in the room, which did work but inconvenient. Only soap is provided and we had to ask for it. Rooms are in need of a lot of TLC. In a pinch maybe, but if you have other options stay elsewhere.

As advertised the hotel is a dump but I knew that prior to booking. The bedding was very poor. No fitted sheets. The sheets did not fit the size of the bed and they were old and tattered.

Smelled like an ash tray. No toilet paper. Last guest stuff was still in the dresser drawers. Lights were broken. And our source of heat was a Sunbeam space heater.

Heated solely by a space heater, had a huge, cold wet spot near the bathroom that gushed whenever you stepped on it, had no water pressure one day, and no hot water of any kind the next. The room was awful. One of the two double beds was completely unusable--broken, sagging, etc. There was exposed wiring, water damage, wet spots on the carpet, mold in the room and bathroom, the ceiling was bulging, there were spiders and bugs in the room, even more in the bathroom, and the toilet seat was actually taped together--with packing tape. […] The towels and linens were also stained, and we actually didn't even have a top sheet on either bed, forcing us to use the dingy old comforter with cigarette burns as our only covering, and it obviously hadn't been laundered in a long time. The Room was filthy!!! Also, when we checked out the following day, I told them our shower didnt work and they basically told me too bad!!! She said that no one had complained about it before. I said that I found that hard to believe and if that was the case then the bathroom hadnt been cleaned before I was there!!

The room was supposed to have a refrigerator and a clock-radio and had neither. It had 3 chairs, all of which were filthy. The bathtub had a lot of cracks in it. I guess the room lived up(down?) to its 1 1/2 star rating. .

Staff friendly, very basic, clean but everything was very old. We were given a choice of rooms which were very similar so chose the one with less mould in the bathroom.Wifi not available although given a code, but warned it would probably not work.

We chose to not stay once we entered the room. The request was for a non-smoking room. The hotel management gave us the last one available which was a smoking room. Very friendly and courteous staff, nice location. The rooms all needed major upgrades and repairs. The screen doors on all of the units flew open and banged shut all night long in the wind. No sleep at all. We left a day early.
