A wonderful getaway in a Victorian home. This is the place to stay. Very clean with old antiques in the house. Michael and Wanda, the innkeepers, were magnificent hosts. The rooms were quiet and very clean. Only a few miles from Cape May and up the block from Wildwood. The breakfasts were great and the restaurants in the area were fantastic. I never write reviews, but i have benefited from many that others have left so I decided to contribute this time. We booked one nite @ 250.00 with taxes and arrived at the 2pm check in. We were met by a nice lady who explained everything about the in and our room. That part was fine. We were lodged in the drawling room under the porch. This room is […] tiny and the sansui tv was barely visable from the bed. The bathroom had a whirlpool tub which was ok, but it doubled as the shower and if ur over 6 ft tall good luck. Also it is extreamly noisey in the morning when everyone comes in and out for breakfast. So don't expect to sleep past 8 am with all that noise from above. I think over all the inn is in fair condition , but it needs some freshening up. I will never pay that much to sleep in a basement under a porch again. Live and learn. "Very Nice Place located in the right place"
Was welcomed immediately upon out arrival. The house was beautifully decorated with antiques. My favorite kind of place. Was just a beautiful house period! And inspite of the fact they were at full capacity...... It was very quiet. Very nice!! And the breakfast was fabulous!!Genuine Expedia guest review

"All amenities taken care of"
Owners were attentive to all needs. Breakfast was superb. Rooms and inn kept the integrity of early twentieth century era yet had all modern amenities. Guest refrigerator was stocked with complimentary soft drinks and water. They supplied beach towels, umbrellas, and water bottles for guest use. There was a 24 hour hot tub. Located 3 blocks from boardwalk, […] and close to everything. Easy, free parking on-site. It was perfect. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We've had never stayed at a B&B before and wasn't sure what to expect. Unfortunately, our schedule didn't give us the opportunity to spend much time in the hotel, but we would definitely stay again. Everything is kept neat and clean. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Charming B&B - close to beach and boardwalk"
The Candlelight is a very homey, old house, full of antiques. It does look old - a little touch up of paint may be in order around the place, but you can tell it is cared for. The hosts are extemely obliging and I think they would do anything to make you comfortable. In the afternoon they put out wine and cookies in the lobby and there is always coffee […] and tea available, and sherry in your room. There are gas fireplaces throughout which add lovely ambiance. The rooms vary in size, and ours was quite small but well appointed and the beds were unbelievably comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"New Year's Eve Getaway"
Had a great time. Inn is just a few minutes from Cape May, but far enough away to avoid the hustle. Inn was built in 1905 and has stayed true to it's Victorian roots. Very comfortable. Amenities included decantors of sherry in every room, and the usual comfy things; bathrobes, slippers, etc. Departing gifts were a pleasant surprise. Should appeal to […] B & B folks, but if your looking for a modern hotel flavor, it's probably not for you. We will certainly return. Hosts were very gracious, food was wonderful. "Such a beautiful house and the hosts are winderful"
We stayed here for our anniversary and we will return if the occasion arises! The hosts were wonderful, the breakfast was delicious, the room was nice, clean, comfortable and quaint. Great stay! For pet lovers they have a pet friendly area. It is close to the boardwalk, the hosts are very helpful with information and will make reservations for you.
"Anniversary Visit, November 2014"
11/08/14 Francine T Monroe Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States
We have been guests of the Inn since 2007, and this visit was just as wonderful as every other! Wanda and Michael have stepped right in as if they have owned the Inn for years. Breakfasts were delicious. It was very enjoyable to try some new dishes. We were very happy to enjoy wine and homemade cookies each afternoon. Our room was as lovely as always, and every detail considered. We love staying in the Seashore Suite in the Carriage House, and highly recommend it! We were surprised with a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary! Wanda and Michael made us feel very welcome, and we will definitely return...hopefully prior to our next anniversary!
"Still the best place to stay"
11/07/14 Richard D
I have stayed at the Candlelight Inn B&B many times before, always in the summer. This was my first off-season visit and the first with the new owners. Michael and Wanda bring new and delicious recipes to the breakfast table, and their enthusiasm to please their guests is boundless. For now they are keeping to the former owners' customs and habits which were efficient and worked very well. This is still the best place to stay in North Wildwood!

We had a very enjoyable 3-day stay at this Inn. The owners, Wanda and Michael, were very friendly, helpful and immediately made us feel welcome. There were many stories and much laughter shared during our time there. We had a choice of two breakfast dishes each morning and they were all delicious. We are looking forward to returning to this Inn again.
"Poor Customer Service"
11/02/14 Margie M Blackwood, New Jersey
We were surprised to see high ratings for this bed & breakfast. My husband & I spent 5 nights there & have no plans of returning. The inn was recently purchased by the new owners Wanda & Michael. Our opinion? Skip this bed & breakfast. You'll be better off spending an additional $25/ $35/night in a spacious apartment 1-2 blocks off the boardwalk. We arrived 1/2 hour early on our 1st day & Wanda was noticeably annoyed that we were early. When she actually checked our room reservation and realized that that our room had not been rented the previous night her attitude changed completely. She put on her "friendly" face & stated our room was ready for us after all. As avid B&B vacationers we should have known this was a bad omen but were excited about our stay. The constant hovering by Michael, asking us what we did all day and wanting reviews very quickly got annoying. A couple of nights, we were awakened after 11:30 PM from sleep by Michael's voice in the hallway following other guests to their rooms asking them where they ate/spent the evening and to please give him a review. No one was safe day or night! There was an awkward moment when we decided to spend time on the porch before heading out to meet friends one afternoon. One of the housekeepers was mopping the porch floors when Wanda came up to her & began scolding her for mopping incorrectly. She grabbed the mop from the housekeeper and began showing her the "proper" way to mop. I felt terrible for the housekeeper. The poor woman looked so embarrassed & it was awkward for us to watch so we retreated back to our room. The accommodations were so-so. As soon as we entered out room, the Bride's Room, we noticed how small it was. The room was just large enough to walk around the bed; one person at a time and had no space to put our bags. The bathroom wasn't any better. There was very little space for toiletries expect a small area over the radiator and on the window sill. With the bathroom window open (to enjoy the “touted” charm of the evening breezes), our things kept ending up all over the floor. The bathroom door would also not stay closed because of the open windows (when one of us was in the bathroom, we jokingly yelled "Don't look!" every time the wind caused the door to fling open). There were no locks on the door to force it shut. If we kept the bathroom window closed, we also noticed the bathroom smelled like sewer. The shower was about the size of a phone booth with a shelf only big enough to hold one bar of soap. We had to place the shampoo on the floor outside of the shower. It was so small that on the 2nd day, I bumped my head twice on the faucet trying to pick up my shampoo. It was difficult to wash my hair b/c I couldn't spread my shoulders w/o getting entangled in the shower liner. The same shower liner, which was made of cloth, had mildew stains on the bottom portion. Breakfasts were ordinary, easy to make meals. They usually contained something creamy or cheesy which we found too decadent as our first meal of the day. But that's a personal preference. Others seemed to enjoy it. I believe Michael does most of the cooking but whenever Wanda made/cooked something, she made sure she got credit. The "Do you like MY this? Are you enjoying MY that?" quickly became annoying. At one point, as I was watched Wanda working in the kitchen, I noticed that she wasn't wearing gloves while handling food. Definitely a health violation that grossed me out as well. Though it was a Bed AND Breakfast, because of these experiences we only ate at the inn a couple of times during our stay. We highly recommend Doo Wop Café which had fabulous food and wonderful service! Checking out was an ordeal. Michael started to check us out, but didn’t know the computer software and we had to wait for Wanda. During check out, it came to our attention that we mistakenly reserved an extra day to our stay (6 nights instead of 5). My husband explained to Wanda that it was a mistake when he made reservations online and apologized. Wanda again became visibly annoyed. She kept repeating "Well, you signed up for 6 nights" and "I gave you the six night discount", constantly referencing her computer screen and the reservation card that we had signed. During check-in Wanda was so flustered by our “early arrival” she didn’t have time to fill out the reservation card for our review & had us just sign it. We’ll never do THAT again! My husband once again stated that it was a mistake signing up for the 6th night, apologized, & asked if she could adjust our bill. She was so annoyed and flustered (again) she stated she wouldn't adjust the bill right then and there, telling us she'll call us later that day to fix it. So we paid and left. After 2 days of no phone calls, my husband had to call the inn to see what the status of our bill was. Michael had to check with Wanda and later called back explaining they couldn't do anything about the charges because it was "the busiest time of the year" for them and they didn't want to lose money. My husband asked if they could reach a compromise and take something off of the bill, preferably the full $173 dollars for the one night as it was an honest mistake. Michael again said he couldn't or wouldn't do anything & that unfortunately "business is business". Michael was willing to give us 50% off our first night on our next stay. My husband explained that was not something we were interested in. Michael wouldn’t do anything else – not even just give us 50% off the extra night we mistakenly reserved! It would've been a small $86 loss on both ends and a reasonable compromise. Wanda & Michael need to learn the concept of hospitality and customer satisfaction. We understand that "business is business", but surely a good business person would have been willing to meet us halfway on the $173 in exchange for a positive customer experience. We do not recommend this inn.

Have you ever gone somewhere and met someone and you immediately felt of like mind and very at home in this new situation? This is what we felt when we walked through the front door of the Candlelight Inn. It doesn’t happen often but when it does it is amazing. We came to North Wildwood to go to a car show/race on the beach. We first met our innkeepers Michael and Wanda, who just took ownership of this beautiful inn in July. They were adorable and so excited to be on their new adventure as Innkeepers. The other guests all seemed to be going to the car show/race and if they weren’t, they decided to go just because everyone else seemed so excited about it. Breakfast was a blast with good food and GREAT baked goods and everyone talking at once as if we had known each other for years. This is a special place and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
"Second time - Great stay - wonderful friendly NEW innkeepers!!"
10/03/14 kam45impala Milford, CT
They saying "second time is a charm" is perfectly fitting for this stay. We just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay (September 29-Oct 3), our son and his wife and my sister and her husband, we all had a great time. We booked this stay back in May and the inn was sold in July, and to be honest I wasn't sure what to expect but it was absolutely wonderful. The new Innkeepers Wanda and Michael are super and the place even more wonderful the second time around. We will be looking forward to another stay and already planning to stay in the Carriage house the next time. The Candlelight Inn is a beautiful Victorian home, there is a book in each room that provides you with the history and some features to look for thought-out the inn. We took a day trip to Renault Winery in Egg Harbor Township and at the end of that day it was great to return back to the peaceful ambiance of inn, fresh baked cookies and wine, which, we enjoyed while sitting on the wrap around porch. We also enjoyed our daily chats with Michael and Wanda, sometimes lasting into the late night hours. The outside hot tub is a great way to end the day and then turn in for a peaceful nights sleep. Rooms are very nicely decorated with comfy beds. There are chocolates and brandy in your room as well as high quality bath towels, robes and slippers for when you get out of the hot tub. We had a delicious hot breakfast every morning with hot pastries or muffins and late afternoon greeted us with fresh baked cookies, wine, tea and snacks. The Candlelight Inn is truly a home away from home. Thank you Wanda and Michael for such great hospitably and conversations.
"Great place with excellent new owners!"
09/27/14 DeeZ57 nj
The only thing better than the owner, Michael's, great sense of humor, is the breakfasts he makes. The Candlelight provided everything we look for in a B&B. Quaint, comfortable room, wonderful hospitality, good location. Convenient to the beach, while still being back far enough to be quiet and away from the commotion of the boardwalk. Good access to the bike paths also. Wine and homemade cookies after 4 pm made for nice evenings sitting on the large veranda socializing with the other guests. Owners Michael and Wanda went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time.
"Beautiful B&B. Excellent food and wonderful staff"

My husband and I stayed here The Inn is just gorgeous. The rooms are clean and beautiful. The breakfasts were simply scrumptious. And the staff was friendly and wonderful. If your looking for a B&B in Wildwood. You've found it. We look forward to a return stay when we return for bike week!

My sister and I stayed in the Victorian Rose room of this B&B. It was a 15-30 min drive to Cape May, which didn't bother me at all because parking was easy enough and it was a much better value than actually staying in Cape May. The B&B is 3 blocks from the beach, which is free entry! The new owners were very nice and accommodating. They provide you with coolers, ice packs, chairs and towels if you need to take them to the beach. The Victorian Rose room itself worked for me and my sister who are both 5'2"... But the ceiling would be low for a taller person, and the bathroom shower would be a really really tight squeeze. Other rooms would probably work just fine. The chocolate ricotta pancakes were delicious, as well as the 5pm cookies. Best of luck to Mike and Wanda, keep up the great service and you'll do great!
