Captiva Beach Resort - Siesta Key

I knew the rooms are small, but not that small. Terrible. Old building, everything is falling apart. Yes, it does have a flat screen TV, but it ends there. I would not book this place if I knew the room size and the overal experience.

Me and my two sister in laws booked a room here for a one night getaway. We loved the hotel. Nice room with enough space for the three of us. Short walking distance to the beach. Beautiful beach! Very happy and pleased with the service and accommodations. The parking lot is a little small but overall it was a very nice stay.

We loved our 5 night stay at CaptivaBeach Resort. We did not use housekeeping as it was easy to make the bed and get clean towels. The staff was exceptional.

Was told it was a one bedroom but it was actually a studio. Couldn't turn around in the full kitchen because if its size. There were red stains on the pullout couch mattress so my 14 year old had to sleep with me. Would not stay here again!

Upon arrival we were taken to a very small but immaculate room.What made it worse was the fact that the air conditioner was next to the bed at head level so we turned it off that evening. I generally only write reviews when I have something positive to say. I'm making an exception here for the benefit of future travelers. Room was called a "king efficiency". Only thing "king" was the size of the bed in a tiny room; with barely clearance between the bed and walls. Had to move the refrigerator to slide my hand between it and the a/c window […] unit in order to turn it on. Parking lot is so small guests have to back all of the way out of the driveway into the road. Worst thing was that when my wife used the toilet for first time she was confronted with a commode that had been used but had been neither cleaned nor even flushed. Told the desk clerk about it when I had to get a light bulb from him for the fan light over the bed. He wasn't phased much about the toilet incident; just said "Yea, we've been through a lot of housekeepers" For this level room I feel we paid way too much for one night with tax. Neither Captiva or any other properties were busy and we could have done much better at some other nearby property. We already picked out where we'll stay next year, and it isn't the Captiva.i. Normally one would expect a lower price in this fairly modest motel-type "resort". But the excellent location might be responsible for a little inflation. The staff is friendly, has coffee ready in the office. Room service is a bit problematic, must be positively requested. There are no shops in the neighborhood. But the beach is great.

Had to be in Sarasota. This was just the right place. Reasonable cost, could walk to the beach at end of a had day. Efficiency kitchen sure beat eating every meal out. A/c kind of noisy, but all else good.

This hotel is in a perfect location. It is literally a minute walk to a beautiful private beach. It is also relatively inexpensive for the location. These two things alone would make me consider staying here again. The room was not so great. It was dirty... like, stains on comforter, hair on sheets, trash on bathroom floor and more than half the lightbulbs […] were out kind of dirty. We only stayed for one night so we just sucked it up and enjoyed the fantastic beach. If I were staying longer, I dont' think I could handle the room. Read more

We had a great experience and a not so great experience. The bathroom was too small. The microwave didn't work, and they did nothing to fix it. It would turn on, but you had no idea how long it would go and we were trying to pop popcorn. We gave up The rooms were clean, the shower that was not, and the shower was far too small. We put out our sign […] to get room service and we didn't get any. We had to ask, but when we did the lady at the front desk was excellent and came and changed the sheets, garbage, and gave us new towels. She was a blessing. The beds were wonderful. There was one staff that was more into gossiping/chatting with the guests than doing her job. I didn't appreciate that. I am on on the fence about recommending this place. The original room that I booked had barely enough room to turn around. They did upgrade me to a larger room, but it had a queen bed instead of a king bed. This is an old hotel that has remodeled but the basic rooms are the same. They are quite small. There is a single window air conditioner near the ceiling, that either runs all night and blows directly […] across the bed. It would not turn off automatically. There is no coffee in the room, even though there is a kitchenette with a coffeemaker. There are chairs out front so you can sit in the common yard with your neighbors. The pool is across the street. The only complaint we have was on the beach with some of the residents of Hyatt telling asking us who we were and telling us where we could put our umbrellas at on the beach.
