Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge - Carlsbad

My husband and I stayed for the weekend so we could be in walking distance in the evening as we toured the breweries during the day. The hotel was a great location and wonderful place to stay. The room was great with a kitchenette and continental breakfast. It was an easy walk to the beach as well.

The stay was enjoyable. We had stayed before but did not know the pool was heated. My wife said the room could have been a little cleaner but it seemed alright to me. The staff was very friendly & courteous.

Hotel staff was unprofessional. The internet didn't work in our room and no one fixed it over our entire stay, after asking multiple people at the desk. Room was small and cramped. Tiny bathroom with sink and dressing area in hallway. Very difficult to maintain privacy while dressing. Extra charge for rollaway bed was not disclosed upon reservation […] with Hotels.com, nor upon check in, only at checkout. Parking is first come first serve, and very difficult to find due to the number of spaces vs. number of rooms. Street parking is not available due to location across from the beach. Breakfast room has a great view, but the breakfast was horrible - cold, hard, microwaved breakfast sandwiches or cereal. Not at all what I expected for the high rate or from a Best Western in general! Stay at the Carlsbad Inn for close to the same cost and a much better experience! Read more

Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. The bathrooms are a bit small but clean. Location is absolutely PERFECT. Walking distance from many restaurants and shops. Across the street from the beach. We will definitely stay with them again. Good value for the $ we spent.

Checked in on Wed and began having problems with the plumbing on Thurs. When we asked the front desk to examine the sink, they asked when we were checking out, we said Sat, and they said we needed to go to the front desk and get a plunger. The hotel is in an excellent location, across the beach, but it is very outdated and has obvious cosmetic needs. […] We spent the majority of the time outside of the room because the window unit did not cool enough and the beds were full size, not queen size as a double. The hotel is laid out with poor parking, very narrow spaces, and it just needs to be remodeled and updated with modern technology, ie. tv, air conditioning, etc. Read more

Hotel was okay, location was great, service not so good.We felt that because we booked through a third-party (Expedia) our reservation was a lower priority than other guests. Service at check-in was not welcoming or accomodating. Wi-fi never worked in the room even after calling the helpline.

We booked two double queen bed rooms through Expedia. The hotel doesn't even have queen beds, so they put us in a room with two double beds and a room with a kingsize bed. I guess the hotel and Expedia should get on the same page. Otherwise, hotel staff is very nice, and the location is great.

The hotel is in a great location if you want to be close to the beach. It is just across the street from the beach and has an amazing view. The beach is very easy to access by crossing at the crosswalk and then a ramp down to the sand. At the bottom of the ramp are bathrooms and showers to rinse off. The beach is clean and the sand is perfect to play […] in. The hotel room itself is a bit outdated but the staff is friendly and they offer a breakfast in the morning. The breakfast consists of juice, yogurt, fruit and a breakfast sandwich. There are plenty of restaurants to eat at within a mile or so of the hotel. The hotel has an ocean view from the breakfast room. Realize that no rooms have an oceanview! It is a good hotel for kids, but with the pool taking up the courtyard, it is noisy.

Great location. Air conditioner was tiny and made the lOudest noise all night. We had to keep it on all night because of how humid the room was. The little latch thing that keeps the door from opening all the way was broken off so we had to stack suitcases in front of the door so our 19 month old could not open the door and get out. Which was dangerous […] because if there was a fire or something. Bathroom was extremely small. We really wish we would have kept looking for a hotel instead of choosing this one.. We had a lovely time at the beach in Carlsbad and, with one exception, we very much enjoyed our hotel. Our room was comfortable, the breakfast was as healthy as you wanted it to be and the coffee in the lobby was delicious. This hotel is just a few seconds from the beach and is conveniently located near good restaurants and a fun pool hall, all within […] walking distance. Our only reservation about booking here again is because the hotel caters to families in a big way. We really wanted to have a few quiet, romantic moments in the hot tub, but it was perpetually teeming with children. The children were supposed to be accompanied by an adult, but this usually wasn't the case, and the hot tub looked more like an unsupervised child-care center. So if you want to take your children to the beach, this hotel would be a fantastic choice! As for us, next time we will look for a hotel that romances the romantic. Read more

The Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge is correctly named... it has a great view and is across Carlsbad Blvd. from the beach. It is just a block or two from everything in Carlsbad Village. I would not stay anywhere else. The room was neat and clean and the staff could not have been more pleasant.

The location is beautiful. We watched the sun go down over the ocean each day right from the balcony. The outside of the property is very nice. The staff is very friendly. The rooms on the inside are clean but dated.

If it weren't for our request to have a QUIET room the stay would have been great. We walked the beach just across the street and ate and danced just a block away. The breakfast wasn't anything to brag about but the view was exceptional from the breakfast room. We totally enjoyed our stay here. The patio overlooking the beach was our favorite. Watching the sunset with a glass of wine and family was perfect. The room was clean and good size. The full kitchen and fire place was unexpected. We would definately go back and recommend this to our friends.

This was the 5th stay at this hotel and the location and price make it worth it. Pool and Spa close too early (10pm) and the pool could use some tender loving care. Walk to beach, great food, and a very good free breakfast with a view makes this site one I keep returning too.

We choose it when in Carlsbad because it's close to everything by car (Legoland, outlet mall) but more importantly it's right across the street from a fantastic beach and a short walk to local restaurants etc). It's a cozy, family-friendly, clean hotel and everything is in good repair. But be realistic […] it's not high-end if that's what your expecting from the room-rate, you're paying for the location and the view from the main terrace (the rooms do not have a view at all and no balcony). Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht mehr, da ich bereits mehrere Jahre dieses Motel aufsuche. Der Preisaufschlag vom letzten zu diesem Jahr beträgt 40 %. Die Sauberkeit könnte insofern einen wesentlich höheren Standard haben. Positiv zu bewerten ist das freundliche Personal und die gute, zentrale Lage.
