The room badly needs an overhaul. Patio doors don't lock & blinds are shredded. The A/C rattled when the compressor came on. The front & bedroom doors were badly damaged. A large painting in the L/R had a 4" hole with tape over it. Old carpet & couch. Management offered one other (larger) room next to the elevator that also needs updating. Lots to […] complain about unit #701 but the view from the living room was so incredible we chose stay put. Unit 701 should not have been leased at the full price. Other units, recently upgraded were imaculate but we were not offered any of them. Even though I showed the manager the condition he admitted it more renters were moving the day after we left. I love this place. There isn't a single negative thing I can say. The condo was wonderful, it had everything needed to stay a week and never have to buy anything. It was great having two bathrooms, my husband didn't have to deal with my "stuff" on the counter or in the shower. We were in the high rise and the location on the beach was excellent. Room was a bit outdated but other units looked nicer. Very clean and staff was excellent though the laundry room hours are lame. The mall across the street wasn't loud, and overall a nice place for all kinds of visitors. We state with a toddler and would come back.

If things like loud birds in the morning, an occasional gecko on a plant or tree or staying in what for the very most part will be a quiet and relaxing place will destroy your vacation, then you may want to consider Waikiki, Seattle, L.A. or New York City over Hale Pau Hana and Maui. Some complain about the sound of cars at Hale Pau Hana, but coming […] from a person (me) that has spent most of their life living in the country where deer, elk and coyotes are very common, I never really noticed the cars. We arrived at H.P.H. on 9/23/11 and on 9/27/11 we went to see Pearl Harbor in Oahu for 2 days before coming back to H.P.H. for an additional 8 days. Let me tell you, even though we were staying at the Waikiki Hilton, we could not get back to the H.P.H. fast enough. I'm not putting Waikiki or the Hilton down, because I know that many people (I saw them) must like walking several blocks through the city in their bikini or swim suit carrying a surfboard on their way to the beach, I just prefer the 27 steps from my patio (I counted them) to the steps that took me to the beach. Only 200 feet (or less) from the patio and I was snorkeling and looking at fish, rays, turtles, corral and other sea life. We stayed in unit 104 and plan on coming back every year, from now on. Many, many people we met have been coming for years and some for decades and some say they do not want the word to get around because it is so nice and they want to keep it to themselves. Read more

Great location! Great view! Staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean and had all of the equipment to prepare meals. The only problem(and it was actually minor) was that the bedroom was the only room with air conditioning--but we knew that before we booked it. This was a great little find!!!!! If you are wanting the real tourist experience of Hawaii, then go to Lahaina/Kaanapali; if you want a great little "true vacation" then go the Hale Pau Hana! Room 405 was spectacular for our five night stay; granite countertops, tile floors, full kitchen with all appliances, full length windows towards ocean and comfortable size lanai. This property is well suited for families and older travelers. Having said that, my wife and I (30 and without kids) found it a great centralized location from which to launch our adventures around the island. We took the highway to Hana, saw a sunrise on Haleakala, went horseback riding at Ironwood Ranch, snorkeled at several beaches, walked around Lahaina, and stopped to see the Iao Needle. I didn't want to leave, and I hope that we get to return some day. We researched many hotels and specialty accommodations before deciding on Hale Pau Hana, and I think we made the perfect choice. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hale Pau Hana. The location is superb. It is steps away from Kama'ole II beach. We had a wonderful view of the ocean from the lanai and could watch the gorgeous sunset every night. There are shops and restaurants directly across the street. There is an even better shopping and dining area just a mile away. […] Beach towels and lawn chairs were provided. We stayed in unit #17. You could tell that the building was older but it was well maintained. When we arrived, the ceiling fan and light in the bedroom did not work. We reported it to the rental office and a maintance person came by the same day to look at it. He determined it would have to be replaced which it was the following day. Be aware that only a few small bars of hand soap were provided so make sure to bring your own toiletries. Air conditioning is provided for the bedroom by a window unit. It was loud so we turned it off before we went to sleep. There was also some street noise. The view, the location, and the price more than made up for the noise. We highly recommend this hotel! This condo is located right on Kamaole Beach II, which you would know is one of the best beaches on Maui if you've done your research. Swimming and snorkeling just in your backyard. We had a first floor condo, so we could literally walk out the living room onto the beach (well ok, onto the lawn then onto the beach, but we were within like 50 feet). […] Pretty much every morning I would open the curtains in the living room and go "oooooh" and then run out to the sand. It's right on Kihei road, but not noisy at all (I usually sleep with earplugs, but I didn't really need them, it was fine). The condo unit we had (101) was very roomy like all the others, but nothing special. The decor was so-so and the closet door was a little busted, but no real problems. The guy at the desk was really nice. He suggested a whole bunch of stuff for us (recommended the often overlooked Seafire for snorkeling) and lent us the hotel's copy of Maui Revealed, no charge. (P.S. If you don't have that book, get it). He also offered to lend us the CD for the drive to Hana, but we forgot to get it before leaving. Room service was unobtrusive and good. They were a little behind schedule when we checked in (weren't done cleaning, and floor was wet when we did come in) but after that, very good. All in all, great place. Can't beat the location. Located directly across street (with handy crosswalk) from Cafe O'Lei, East Ocean Chinese (two of Kihei's best), an excellent Hawaiian Plate Lunch (same building as Cafe O'Lei, and other shops including a convenience store. Hale Pau Hana is an older condo complex but the location is fantastic. Right on the beach. All units face out to the beach. Unit 15 was very nice but the carpet in the bedroom is old and dirty and should be replaced with tile. The facility is well kept and staff are friendly and helpful. Hale Pau Hana is almost perfect. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the location offers great ocean views from every unit, the grounds a beautifully maintained and the immediate area has a lot to offer in regards to beaches and restaurants. I only had one minor issue. My stay was split between 2 units because at the time of my stay they did not […] have an open unit for the entire length of my stay. Having to move from one unit to another during my stay was not a big deal. The difference between the two units was a big surprise. (the cost of both units were the same). My first unit (302) was very clean with basic "hawaiian style" furnishings. Nothing fancy. Everything needed was there, but styling and the furnishings were a bit dated. My second unit {204} was a designer showplace. EVERYTHING was co-ordinated and looked like it was ready for a photo shoot. Even the dishes and silverware were co-ordinated with the furniture. This unit was NICE. I was told by the office staff if you book direct, you can select from pictures on line the unit you would like to have. After staying in two totally different units, that is what I will do when I return to Hale Pau Hana. Like I already said, the first unit was ok, but the second was in a whole other class. Also, if you are seeking some peace and quite, this place has it. This is not the place for the "party crowd". Most quest are either retired or young families, at least during my November stay. The Hale Pau Hana Resort is just terrific. The condo is steps away from the pool, grassy area, sand and the water. The unit was a little dated, but the view was fabulous. We liked is so much that we made a reservation and deposit for another visit in 6 months. Can't wait to get back there.

"Outstanding" is the best way to describe our stay at Hale Pau Hana, unit 16. The proximity to the beach made our vacation memorable. Our unit was clean, updated and had all that we needed. Most enjoyable stay. We liked the ocean view from the lanai, spacious suite. We stayed in a one bedroom with 2 bathrooms, which was wonderful. Suite was well equiped for an extended stay, close to all amenities. Great beach walks, felt like a safe area to stay. Excellent dining within walk distance of the resort. Easy to drive too, you might miss the […] entrance if you didn't know the area as it is not easy to see as the sign is hidden by the hedge, but you are not driving fast so you should be able to find the entrance.
