Kandahar Lodge at Whitefish Mountain Resort offers spa services and massage/treatment rooms.
Cafe Kandahar is a fine dining restaurant with an award-winning wine list. Chef and Owner Andy Blanton trained in Baton Rouge and worked in New Orleans before coming to the Flathead Valley. He has been honored by a James Beard nomination for "Best Chef: Northwest", by Frommer's Guide naming Cafe Kandahar as one of two best restaurants in their Montana & Wyoming guide and by being chosen as the People's Choice at the 2010 Taste of Whitefish. The underlying concept of Cafe Kandahar, the motto which drives each decision made in the restaurant, the motif woven into the fabric of each dish is "thoughtfully constructed cuisine". Each menu item is designed keeping in mind both the seasonality and locality of the ingredients. We believe in working with area farmers to provide our guests with the finest goods harvested in their peak of freshness. We employ creative techniques and apply attention to detail throughout the entire process. No dish is complete without careful consideration of flavors, textures, and appearances of each component, as well as the affect each has on the other. Part of our menu changes each evening so that we can take advantage of these seasonal goods as they become available. One component of the nightly offerings is the Chef"s Tasting Menu, written using the freshest ingredients on hand and combining them to create tantalizing flavors. The Chef's Tasting consists of five small plates carefully paired with wines, each course flowing into the other with seamless perfection to provide the quintessential dining experience.
Glacier National Park is the biggest recreation draw to this area of Montana. Kandahar Lodge is located an hour's drive from the west entrance of the Park. The scenic beauty of the Park leaves no one untouched. Park activities include interpretive tours in the red buses or by Blackfeet Indians, day and overnight hikes, boat rides, horse back rides, river rafting and fishing. Other summer recreation activities nearby are boating on Whitefish and Flathead Lakes, fishing in streams and rivers, golfing on one of the nine beautiful courses, mountain biking, hiking, museum and art gallery tours, Indian Pow Wows, county fairs, farmers' markets, live theater and music.
Winter activities center around snow, and there is lots of it. Kandahar Lodge is located ski-in at Whitefish Mountain Resort. The Resort has over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain and averages over 300 inches of snow per year. Downhill skiing, snowboarding and telemark skiing are all popular on the Mountain. Cross-country skiing trails are plentiful near the Base Lodge at the Resort, on the golf course in Whitefish and in several locations near Whitefish. Snowmobiling is available from the Summit of Big Mountain and on public lands throughout the Flathead Valley. Whitefish has an indoor skating rink and the Wave that offers a swimming pool, exercise equipment and classes. Whitefish is a small friendly town with one main street (Central Avenue) that has a collection of excellent restaurants, fun pubs, eclectic shopping, a brewery, museum and art galleries. During the winter the free S.N.O.W. bus offers transportation to and from the Resort with several stops in town.
Recreational amenities at the lodge include ski-in/ski-out access, a large outdoor hot tub, a steam room, a fitness facility and massage services. Yoga classes are held weekly during the ski season and July and August. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

"Kandahar Lodge -Great location for Skiing"
The title, lodge, says a lot about the place. it is a rustic style but very comfortable. The staff was very helpful, friendly and warm in conversations. The lack of an elevator could be a problem for some using the lodge for summer.

"Very Comfortable"
The staff was very friendly,we reccomend the loft room especially for a family with kids. They loved it.The only negative is that there is no elevator and the parking is small but there is ample parking in the lot across the road. It's quiet and very cozy.
"had to sleep on the floor"
Nice, rustic lodge in a gorgeous area. Seemed to be in good condition, however, both the beds in our room we outrageously squeaky. In fact, we had to put our six year old on the floor because every time she rolled over, it woke us up. Seems like a pretty rotten deal to have to sleep on the floor at a nice hotel. Be sure to insist on a room with good […] beds, and ask for different pillows - the ones on the beds were awful! Read more
This is a charming, high quality small hotel with extremely helpful and welcoming staff and facilities, along with a very high quality restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our summertime stay and would love to come back in the winter and sit in front of the cozy lobby fireplace.
"kandahar resort, whitefish, mt."
nothing like the pics online. it was a nice place, but we were looking for out door convenience and it just didn't have it. Mostly a ski place, not for summer. The staff was very real warm, nor did they go out of there way to help me locate things, I would not go back due to the treatment, especially for the price that was paid for rooms.

"Out of the way"
Not a comfortable stay. No elevator and lugging large suitcases up 3 flights of stairs was difficult. Room had 2 story bedroom, another inconvenience. Pretty location, but not conveniently located to other sights around town. Would not book again. Nice staff. Plumbing problems inside room was inconvenient.
"KANDARAH SKI LODGE"
We were going to drive through Glacier Park and needed a place to spend one night. We saw this great looking lodge on hotels.com and decided to book, even though it was a bit off the beaten path. Over all we were very pleased. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Lodge was built before ADA, so you must lug your luggage upstairs. The cozy setting […] with a warm fire even late in June made the aviance worth another visit if we ever go. Read more

"Kandahar Lodge - a memorable experience"
We thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay at Kandahar Lodge! The location was beautiful, the service was friendly, and our room was clean and comfortable. The highlight of our stay was our anniversary celebration 5-course dinner in the dining room. It was a gourmet adventure!

"Kandahar"
Friendly and helpful staff. Quaint mounain lodge. Only issue was that the room was dark and it had elevated beds that you had to climb up into. Would recommend to others.

"Restaurant worth stay at the Kandahar"
The hotel/lodge is well run, suitably equipped, good decor. The real jewel is the restaurant - Cafe Kandahar- We enjoyed probably the best meal that we HAVE EVER experienced. From greeting by the maitre'd to the wait staff ; from appetizer to desert - all was artfully plated, explained, tasted, removed..excellance. Wine list is formitable. The experience […] was worth the reservation in the hotel. Reservations at the Cafe are a must as this is a destination restaurant! Check Frommer. Read more

"Great Place"
Made a last-minute reservation (day before!) to stay here as a jumping off point to Glacier National Park. Basically knew nothing about the place but got a decent price on such short notice and were thrilled to discover that: 1) it was a very cozy but pretty luxurious mountain-top ski lodge and 2) we got an effiency room with a full kitchen, including […] pots and pans, plates, cups, flatware, dinner table, etc. Was a great relief as we always dread driving around to find restaurants we can eat it (99.9% aren't vegetarian-friendly). Very helpful front desk person provided us with directions to the nearest grocery store and we were all set for dinner, breakfast, and next day's picnic lunch. Very comfortable bed and beautiful bathroom area. One minor complaint: TV was old and pretty small. But guess that's understandable since place is a ski lodge and during the peak seaon most guest probably don't hang out in the rooms and watch TV. Read more

"Very Nice!"
We stayed at the Kandahar Lodge during the off season (no skiing) enroute home from Banff, Alberta. The hotel was lovely, staff was great, and the room was very nice. We opted to drive a ways out of town to the Whitefish ski area to get a room outside of the standard chain hotel. The lodge exceeded our expectations, it was very well furnished, classy […] yet lodge-like. We did have a late night noisy guest in the floor above us that woke me up, but the room was very comfortable with four-poster beds you needed a ladder to climb into and soft, feather comforters. An out of the ordinary continental breakfast was included. Overall, a very good value. NOTE - This hotel is not for those with disabilities: no elevator and lots of stairs. Staff did offer to help tote our bags up to the second floor. Read more

"Kandahar Lodge - friendly people"
We stayed one night; the staff were very friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer.
"Kandahar Lodge at Whitefish Mountain"
Lodge was right on the hill. The staff were friendly and the continental breakfast was good. We had 3 adults and 2 small children so had a loft room with 3 beds. The lodge is older so the room showed so wear and had a musty smell. Nice lobby with big fireplace, lots of seating and free computer access.

Dommage... Read more
"Khandahar Hôtel - Whitefish - Montana - USA"
Accueil très agréable. Etablissement plein de charme au milieu de la montagne, très calme. Situé un peu loin pour visiter le Glacier National Park mais parfait pour séjour dans les environs de Whitefish. A recommander vivement.
"Goed hotel voor grotere gezinnen op de doorreis"
Een doorsnee hotel in een wintersportgebied. De kamer is goed. Helaas is er geen lift in het hotel. We zaten op de 3e verdieping. Met een aantal zware koffers was het geen pretje om op de kamer te komen. Tijdens de zomermaanden is er noch in het hotel noch in het dorp veel te beleven. Erg karig continentaal ontbijt....
