Although its location was directly across from the boardwalk, and that is why we chose this motel, I was expecting a little higher quality for what we paid. The smell of marijuana as a neighboring guest opened their door was our first clue about the guest clientele.. Several men had positioned themselves on the steps leading to the second floor, so […] we walked around to the other side to avoid any discomfort. Our room had white spackle repair patches all over the walls. However, the bathroom had been upgraded and was nice. Walls are super thin, but noise level wasn't too bad. Continental breakfast was very basic. No guest amenities like shampoo, lotion, etc. available to guests in the bathroom. Didn't want to go to dinner because we might not have had a parking spot when we returned. Management was nice. We were there only to sleep, but would have liked a little nicer room. Read more

I'm not sure what motel these other reviewers stayed at, but it could not have possibly been the Aqua Breeze. I have no aversion to funky little motels, but I always check the reviews first to make sure it is funky but not a dump. This place was a dump. On the plus side, no bedbugs. Everything on this side of town shuts down early. The stores are closed […] by 10 pm, there are no clubs or hole in the wall bars, and really, nothing to do once the boardwalk closes (which it dows quite early, even on the weekends). I can live with all that stuff, but combine it with a motel room that a) had a CUT window screen on a first floor room, b) a very ghetto, multi-color paint job inside the room (drywall repairs covered with a different color and type of paint than on the rest of the wall...super ghetto), c)forty year old furniture so beat to you-know-what it didn't even belong in a thrift store, 4) internet that barely functioned. We really enjoyed our stay at the Aqua Breeze Inn :) The service was great and the location was unbelievable! It takes one minute to walk to the boardwalk. It was our first time exploring Santa Cruz and I would call the Aqua Breeze home :) The only thing that would've made it better is if the soap and towels were a better qaulity.

It was great for a one night stay. But the walls are PAPER THIN!! The couple next door were talking all morning long while we tried to sleep. It sounded like they were in the room with us. Room was pretty clean. They also charge you for any missing items. The only thing wrong with this is some of the items are not there in the first place...

I liked the motel and the fact that it was close to everything - stores, beach boardwalk. I didn't like that the pool was closed, but they let the kids go anyway even though it wasn't heated (and probably not cleaned). I REALLY liked that the room had 3 queen beds. I also liked that it was quiet and comfortable.

They are making th most of an old building. Newer bathroom tile, carpets well vacuumed, walls painted in the last couple years. Great location, neat view if the theme park and the pier. But, the place is worn out and old. Some people live there in the rooms, no elevators, drafty and hard to heat. Fresh coat of wax on a rusty car....

It's definitely a conveniently located place. Everything I could possibly want was one mile or less away. I was even able to run to the surf contest location one morning. However, this trip made me realize that Santa Cruz is def not a very nice place. It felt like we were driving in and out of the ghetto as we traveled around the area. Nonetheless, […] Aqua Breeze MOTEL fit the bill. It was a cheap stay and we learned why. Not only does it feel dirty and worse than a Motel 6, there were drug deals going on in the surrounding rooms and shady Santa Cruz residents staying there and partying until 4am. The next morning we went to management to complain and they were extremely friendly, understanding, and helpful. At no additional charge they offered us a new room. We were concerned that this wouldn't help the situation but the room was SO MUCH BETTER. It felt cleaner, it was bigger, and most of all I didn't feel as disgusted staying in this room. This was also a downstairs room but it just had a much better feel to it, and I also felt comforted knowing that the management would take our phone calls at any time of the night if we were experiencing any type of problems as we did the first night. The first room we were given, the window had not been closed and it would not close unless we forced it. Then, the room upstairs had some plumbing issues so we were moved. The hotel considering what we paid was fine. The room itself was decent, but the shower was arranged strangely so that every time I used it, water leaked and filled the whole bathroom floor. The sink was coming off of the wall, and there were very strange noises day and night. I guess you get what you pay for... location was within walking distance to Boardwalk, thats about the best thing I can say about this place. The guy at the front desk seemed a bit lost when I asked him for a bag to line the ice bucket... The location could not of been any better, literally across the street from the boardwalk and two minute drive to downtown, the parking at this hotel sucks tho, although we got lucky and had a spot each day I don't believe they could fit all the guests cars. Staff was helpful. The breakfast was the worst I have ever came across only Cheerios & Special […] K, a loaf of whit bread, tub of jam and butter, ok coffee, a little milk & orange juice. Breakfast seemed kinda dirty. The room was an odd blue and yellow but bed was nice new fridge everything worked except one light bulb was bad. I would stay here agin for the location and price. We chose Aqua Breeze Inn for the location and price since we planned to visit the Boardwalk, Wharf, Seymour marine center,Downtown Santa Cruz, and Mystery Spot. Parking is free so you won't feed a meter . The Board-walk and restaurants are just across the street! We stayed 2 nights. Reviews stated that the rooms are small and the toilet, sink, and shower […] /tub are in one area. This leaves little space for hair and make-up. With 4 people it takes a bit of planning. The upside is that there was plenty of hot water. Refrigerator and microwave worked great. Staff is pleasant and qualified. We passed on the complimentary break-fast / coffee it wasn't available until after 8:30a or 9:00a during our stay. We would stay here again. Read more
