We really enjoyed our stay. We were surprised that there weren't more young people there for our teenagers to interact with. Mainly honeymooners and 30-40-50 year olds. The food was really good. Great margarita's. Hotel staff and activity staff are great and entertaining.

The beach is beautiful and so is the water, some areas are a little rocky though. Pool area was nice and lots of space for privacy. The best thing is also the location of this hotel - literally less than two blocks from fifth avenue which is the hotspot of Playa del Carmen - all the shops, bars, clubs (like Coco Bongo), and everything else to keep you even more entertained day and night. Amazing first time at an all-inclusive resort! The service was excellent from everyone, but especially by Carlos at Pelicanos bar and by Edgar at Best Day Travel. Was glad we brought long pants and a light jacket as the evenings got a little chilly. The resort is big so we did a lot of walking from our suite.

Love this hotel. Their motto is "do everything" with love. The service was outstanding. Make sure you hit up the coffee shop! When booking, understand that the rooms that say "ocean view", may be very far from the ocean. If you want to be on the ocean, pick "ocean front". Also, if booking a one bedroom master suite, understand that the "one king bed […] or two doubles" is not actually an option. They will put in some roll aways that are very comfortable, but you'll lose the living room space. We thought the food was great. Ate mostly in Spice. Asiana was awesome, and you can eat at the Grand Porto as well. We really liked the Italian restaurant over there. They honored our request to move to another room without any difficulty at all. The resort had a small amount of construction going on as they were remodeling the lobby at the resort, but we never noticed it from our room. I suspect by this point it's already finished. We were slightly disappointed by the addition this year of staff soliciting you to parasail from the beach of the resort. I don't recall this time last year them even having parasailing or jet skis leaving from the property of this resort interrupting your view of the ocean. The staff was from the resort as they still do not allow for outside solicitation which we do appreciate, and they only came by and offered parasailing once a day. It wasn't a major interruption, but we did notice it. Again I have to brag on how great the service was. They bring you drinks on the beach, by the pool, and even insist on carrying your plate to the table from the buffet line at times. We love this place! Read more

We especially appreciated being in the town of Playa Del Carmen, as we like to wander about. If you are a serious foodie, you might be a bit disappointed in the restaurants. Whether billed as Caribbean, Mexican, French - it was very much the same. Quality, lovely, bland (the Spice buffet in the morning was a great exception). "Herb-encrusted fish" at Mediterraneo may have had salt and pepper - but even that was hard to find - but it was a stunning presentation. Interestingly there was a plethora of beef resort-wide, but little seafood. Please do not get me wrong - I know it is difficult to cook for so many people, and many prefer food on the 'tame' side. My wife and I are frequent travelers to Cancun and generally speaking, I have nothing terribly bad to say about the hotel. It is clean, well-kept and service met our expectations. However, there is room for minor improvements. I continue to be amazed that maid service apparently does not follow a checklist. On one occasion, we had to remind the staff […] to leave shampoo and shower cap. At the pool area, they need tubs for used towels. The absence of tubs throughout the pool area results in folks leaving towels on their chairs so you never know what seat is or is not vacant. Also, at the pool seats bordering the grass, they need to clean and hose it in the morning. Folks sitting outside at night leave little items that attract ants. The Concierge and phone operators were difficult to understand and between them and Best Day travel count not grasp my efforts to reconfirm my flight. While retrieving my hotel pamphlet from Guest Services we got roped in to their "Club Membership" sales pitch, which we generally avoid so be forwarned. Also, never stayed at an Adults only hotel that did not have adult TV and or movie access. Read more

This hotel exceeded our expectations. From the hotel staff, to the restaurants, to the pools and bars, this was a great experience. Every single exployee goes out of his way to accomodate your requests. Top shelf liquor is included with the all-inclusive price, which is not standard at many all-inclusives we've stayed at. No matter which area you choose […] to lounge at (ocean cabana, pool, restaurant bar) there are waitors who will bring you drinks! Of course you can always walk up to the bar and get them yourself too. Tipping is not required but we had singles and did tip every so often. It goes a long way and the wait staff works very hard and we felt they deserved it. They recently added on to the hotel, so there's a brand new coffee shop, pool and bar. There are 3 pools, the pool in the new part is very peaceful if you like to read or just relax by the pool. The main pool area has 2 pools and plays music and has more of a party vibe, but not obnoxious. There are plenty of bars too. Either way, there is something for everyone. The restaurants are AWESOME as well. Maria Maria and Asiana were our favorites. You need reservations for Maria Maria but it's worth it. Outstanding food. They also have the standard buffets, and you can get room service any time - no extra charge - BONUS! Also, the location to 5th Avenue shopping is awesome. We walked there and went shopping almost every night. We will definitely be back again next year. You won't be disapointed! Read more

The food was great - none of the restaurants were closed during our stay. With two buffets and three other restaurants and the neighboring hotel's restaurants available good selection. Drinks were good, not watered down. Service of front desk staff and bartending / wait staff left a lot to be desired. The sales staff was a bit pushy. The only real disappointment […] was the nightly shows - the venue is in the lobby, not an auditorium style seating like other all inclusives with nightly shows that I've visited. Also, some evenings the show started at 9:45pm, which is a little late for us after free drinks all day. The layout of the hotel is a little difficult to get used to, but based on the town itself. A huge upgrade from the sister hotel across the street which makes you not want to touch anything. The finishing touches at this hotel made it an elegant experience - for example in the lobby bathroom the automatic paper towel dispenser is covered in wood. There is also a bulter service with oil and books in the pool area. The grounds are very well kept and clean. Beware of the Xcarat day trip: great place to go but they only give you one drink per person for the 9am - 8pm day... not exactly our idea of a good time after free drinks at the hotel. :-) Read more
