Right opposite Gar du Nord - perfect for a short stay. Even though room faced onto main street, windows insulation cut out nearly all noise, so good nights sleep. Small room but what is expected in this area, shower room is clean and recently refurbished. Plenty of local restaurants and great bar with Belgian beer and contemporary music nearby.

Not to be confused with "Gare de Nord Hotel" across the street. Small room in an old building. Knew that going in and didn't have a problem with that. Entrance is a little dodgy looking (like you are going to a motel in a low part of town). I was traveling alone and was staying for only 2 days in Paris, and decided to book this hotel because I needed to be close to the Gare du Nord. When I arrived at the New Hotel, the man told me that I would have to go around the corner to the Richmond Hotel. Luckily I had read another review on this site, and remembered that other people had had this […] experience, so I was not that surprised. But if I hadn't read the other review, this would have been confusing. The people that worked here were civil enough, but by no means welcoming, even though I speak fluent French. The hotel itself was extremely shabby and dark. My room was a normal size for France and the bathroom was almost the same size of the bedroom, which was nice. The bed was very low to the ground an uncomfortable. My room was near the elevator, and I heard people getting on and off of it all night. There was also loud talking and, err, lovemaking in neighboring rooms. There was no peephole in the door. Also, the Gare du Nord area is a bit shady at night, at least I felt that way as a single woman. In the day the area is fine. Overall, the only thing going for this place is its proximity to the train station, but there are other options out there. Also, I was charged for the 2 nights stay in advance (which has never happened to me before using Expedia). When I inquired about it, they said that it was because it was a "special rate," even though I don't think that was mentioned at the time of booking. Read more

This is a marginal hotel and I would not recommend it for any plans other than a single night. The bedding and pillows were worn. Elevators open up onto a circular staircase which is difficult to balance luggage. No smoke detectors in the room. Neighborhood is seedy.

If you're ready to pay higher prices for the hotel, don't continue to read this and book something else. If you consider the hotel only as a place to sleep, and are satisfied with basic (but complete) amenities, and value other things, this may be a good choice. All basic items in the room were OK: comfortable large bed, clean sheets, soundproof windows, […] tiny but complete and working bathroom. The elevator works, staff are friendly and speak several languages. The breakfast (extra, but much cheaper than surrounding restaurants) is, again, a very basic but complete buffet (eggs, ham, cheese, fresh baguette and croissants, yogurt, hot and cold drinks ad lib). The location is very convenient: across the street from Gare du Nord (metro, RER, trains), walking distance from Montmartre. New Hotel Gare du Nord is too pricy for such small hotel room with low quality. The carpet under the table was wet all the time due to shower water came out from bathroom (table was against bathroom's wall). The table was not useful due to wetness underneath. The room smelled like "dirty diaper" due to the damp area. Surrounding neighborhood was extremely noisy all day and night due to train station and drinking bars. Drunk people shouted all night, traffic noise and honking, sirens of fire truck, ambulance and police cars were on going all the time. The cleaner came everyday to make bed, do the trash, give new toiletteries but the bed sheets were not changed. We used the same bedsheets for the whole 8 days of staying. We had just come in from a 2.5 hr train ride and were 2 hrs early for check in. I greatly appreciated the fact that they cleaned a room for us and allowed us to check in early. It was nice to be able to drop off luggage, clean up and head out for our last sightseeing day in Paris. If you are taking an early morning Eurostar this is perfect as it's situated less than 1 minute walk from Gare du nord. It's a typical hotel for this area of Paris, incredibly basic hotel so don't expect any frills, but it served its purpose well for a 6.45am train!

Please note: My review and rating are based on expectations relating to the star rating of this accomodation provider. To this end, for 2 star accomodation the hotel exceeded expectations. I have been to higher rated with hotels that were worse than this. We stayed here for 2 nights on arrival from NZ and were very pleased with what we got from this […] accomodation based on its rating and for the price. The rooms are not huge but clean and comfortable. The bathroom is in a wet-room style and obviously a recent fitout. It was clean and well ventilhated with no signs of mould or mildew. Towels that were provided were clean. We did not have breakfast in the accomodation as there are no shortage of brasseries offering deals nearby. Location wise it couldn't have been better. There was metro access right outside to get around Paris city as well as Gare du Nord on the other side of the street. It was perfect as we were travelling by Eurostar to London at the conclusion of our stay. This hotel is best for quick stays and when you will be out and about and just need a clean place to crash at day's end. Place may look a bit tacky from the outside, but the rooms are clean and the bathroom immaculate with new fixtures. Great location if you need to catch an early train.
