For an all-inclusive Wyndham resort, this place fell short. First, the good parts. The pool was high quality, nice smaller area safe for babies and beginners. They provided nice quality travel cribs at no charge. The air conditioning was very good with thermostats in each room. Then, the bad parts. The food was merely passable. The hotel staff ranged […] from exceptional to rude and dismissive. There seems to be a general problem with getting good service in Puerto Plata, not limited to the hotel. However, when you get some folks who don't speak English on the phone, instead of transfering you, they just hang up on you. There doesn't seem to be a good handle on quality control of the services, so much of what you get is the luck of the draw, as in the case with our maids. But this extends to every area of your stay there. The chef on the weekend produced food in the buffet that was relatively very good. Same buffet during the weekdays was clearly handled by someone else because the food quality/taste was low to medium. There is a path to the beach from next to the pool area, but that path is shady and next to a swampy lagoon. Run through it, or be eaten alive by mosquitos. The beach itself is nice, with a snack bar and drink bar that is also nice as part of your all-inclusive. With a name like Wyndham, you expect a lot better. In this place, you will be disappointed often. For the value, it was ok. However, don't go through Wyndham's own site for booking. They charge an arm and a leg and can't give you the good prices even if they wanted to. I spent a total of 3 hours on the phone with various Wyndham reps and finally gave up and booked through hotels.com, from which I got far better service and a far better deal. Also, I was there for a wedding. the general services were terrible, but if you lay on them HARD, they do their jobs ok. Don't use the on-site salon for beauty services. Well first off if you are expecting a luxurious hotel like other all inclusive hotels in Dominican Republic, this is not the place to be. This hotel is more of a lets say if you just want to be on your own with no one bothering and you don't want to be around a lot of people kind of a hotel. The 4 days I was there I could count on my hands how many people were actually at the beach. You practically have the beach to yourself. One thing you won't find in the fancier hotels in DR. If you give this hotel a chance you will definitely have a great time. Yes, they are a little slow with service and the food could be better but once you settle in the last thing you care about is the food and service. This resort is smaller and it was not overcrowded with people so you get to know the staff and the vacationers. The staff especially the entertainers were the most friendliest and so much fun to hang out with. Personally I've been to many 4 & 5 star hotels in DR and hands down I would pick this hotel over the others. Although the hotel's location was great, some aspects of service were a bit off. First of all, the reception area only had 2 people working in that station. i found this to be rather unacceptable considering it was fourth of july weekend. Second of all, the air conditioner in the room caused the room floor to flood. they were unable to change our room […] because the hotel was in full capacity.
