Once you get over the shock of driving onto property, you should find this small hotel convenient to Simpson Bay's attractions. Looks a little scary at first, but you'll get over it in a day. Enjoyed the room, clean, neat. Hotel staff are great. Rental car was even dropped off at the hotel for me. Grocery stores, shops, bars, restaurants, jet ski/boat rentals, all within walking distance. Sandy beach is right outside the hotel steps if you want to work on the tan.

The good: Close to the airport, clean, nice kitchen. The not so good: Staff shows all the warmth and enthusiasm of inmates doing their community service, the pool is slightly larger than the bathtub, and it is EXTREMELY loud at night due to the bars and nightclubs nearby( seriously, if I didn't travel with earplugs I wouldn't have slept a wink). There's […] also a kind of surely note in the bathroom for gusts stating they will be charged extra if the white towels are too dirty. Geez, just get tan towels then everybody can relax. We stayed at the Flamingo resort which isn't that far away and found it to be a wonderful experience for roughly the same price. I would suggest staying there instead. Read more

I stayed on the French side in March and Simpson Bay in May. Both unique experiences. However, Simpson Bay was more centraly located for access to the other attraction locales. Carter and Turquoise Shell are synonymous with 'Home away from home'. Thank you.

The Turquoise Shell Inn was perfect little hotel for a weeks stay on Spring break with my wife and daughter. Great location, close to airport, next to a beautiful section of quiet beach on Simpson Bay. A short walk to grocery store w/ a great beer and wine selection, a wonderfull french bakery about a block away and a wide range of restaurants all within […] walking distance. This was the perfect budget hotel for our long weekend vacation in St. Maarten. Conveniently located close to the airport in Simpson Bay, there were plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations and entertainment nearby. There were not the touristy stores that you find in Philipsburg, but the restaurants cater to tourists and were delicious, especially […] Kharacter, a 1/4 mile walk down the beach toward the airport. The hotel itself is tucked away between some residential, commercial and dirt lot properties but is across the street and over a dirt lot away from a beautiful and quiet beach, I'm talking a VERY short walk. St. Maarten can be sketchy at night but the hotel felt safe and isolated behind its gates and walls. There is a gated parking lot outside of the rooms for renting a car, which is a must in order to get around. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy. The nice thing is having the kitchen amenities (microwave, fridge/freezer, stove, sink) and separate bedroom. The service is absolutely wonderful as the front desk was very helpful in providing anything and everything we needed or forgot and in arranging activities and car rental and they had very very good recommendations for restaurants and everything else. The staff does expect you to clean up after yourselves and not dirty up their white towels or get excessive amounts of sand in the room or else there is an additional charge. A $50 deposit is due at check-in. Read more

Stayed in this hotel for 6 days. Stay was very comfortable. There are super markets and restaurants close by and hence food is not an issue. Carter was very friendly and took care of everything right from the time I checked in. The towel rates in case it gets soily is extremely threatening. But other than this I enjoyed a pleasant stay here.

Our stay at the Turquoise Shell Inn was a fun experience. It was only a stones throw away from the beach. The owner of the Inn was very nice and helpful. It was located in a good area near to good restaurants. There was a bus stop very close by. The only draw back was the location to the airport. You could hear the planes very loud at times around 4 […] oclock in the afternoon. But that all stopped at night. It was fun. I would stay there again and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
