The Royal Cancun, a Royal Resort - Cancun

Very nice place. 5 stars in every thing except that they had only one restaurant onsite and there was nothing nearby as well. May be if they build one or two more restaurants then it would be perfect. It has a kitchen though in the villas, so people can cook. But who wants to cook on vacation. :-)Other than that everything was pretty good.

There were things included in the basic hotel price, such as using a sail boat, bicycles, snorkeling equipment, and tennis equipment and courts. We (group of 15 grad students) had a great time at this hotel, the staff was super friendly and helpful; our concierge even took us for a night out at a - truly - local tacco restaurant. We chose this hotel because they have 2 bedroom suites for a base price. When we arrived I was happy to see that the hotel is on the north side of Cancun, where the surf is gentler and better for swimming. (no red flags). Shortly after checking in, we met Denzel, our personal concierge! He made sure that we had a good time and did all of the things […] we wanted to do. He was very helpful in answering all of our questions about the hotel, and how to get around in Cancun. The service and people here are terrific. The beach is nice, with deep soft sand. This hotel was previously called VCI or (vacation) beach club internacional. Google maps and many taxi drivers aren't yet familiar with the new name/location. Stayed over Christmas holiday, everything was beautifully maintained. Our room (C633) was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beach was great and if you need move waves just hop on the shuttle to The Royal Sands. The water at this location is great for snorkeling and playing in the shallow water, lots of marine life […] near the pier. Beach is perfect for small children. The location is very close to a Ultramar Ferry dock for easy access to Isla Mujeres. We ate in the restaurant a few times & ordered pizza a couple of times, all was good. Bus stop for each direction located in front of property, including cross walks. The feel of this resort is awesome, we felt welcomed by everyone that we encountered. Family friendly hotel and staff. Having a kitchen is and plently of living space is great. Good swimming pool, tennis. Shallow and calm waters make it ideal for kids swmming or jet skiiing. If you looking for beach activity like surfing or boogie boarding, this is not right place.

This hotel was awesome, the service was increbily attentive without being overly intrusive. We only had one minor issue and the staff responded immediately. The location was perfect, very secluded and quiet. When we wanted to party we just took a $15 cab to the party area. We didn't take the shuttle to the Royal Sands but I think it's a great option […] to have. The villa was clean, bright, and spacious. There was a store that sold everything but the kitchen sink. The property was quiet and had a community feel to it. I can't stress how awesome the staff was, everyone was friendly and helpful. Happy hour every day from 3-6 with half-priced drinks. This was a girl's trip for 4 ladies and we had a great time! The 2 bed, 2 bath suite was perfect for us and we were able to cook a couple meals there easily. The Royal Cancun is a little out of the way - perfect for a quiet escape - and more on the bay than on the beach. Yes, there is seaweed on the beach, but the staff was out early each morning cleaning it up. It is also right next to the Embarcadero - for a trip over to Isla Mujeres - and closest to downtown Cancun for some local flair and great out of […] the way restaurants. The best thing is that you are able to use the facilities at all 5 of the Royal Resorts - so you can go to different beaches (the Royal Sands was our favorite), different pools (Royal Caribbean), and different restaurants (Captain's Cove across from the Royal Mayan) while having the peace and quiet you get with the Royal Cancun. Someone looking for a party or tons of kids activities would probably enjoy the Royal Sands best. The staff is absolutely amazing. We were never even approached about going on a time share tour or purchasing. A lot of the guests were "members" and they also had nothing but wonderful things to say about the company. Good value for the money. If you prefer spacious suite over all inclusive places, you should take it. Kitchen fully equipped, two bedrooms and nice living room with balcony. We took a chance after looking at so many places and thought this place fits our needs. Sure glad we did. We are a young couple that do like to go out but also enjoy quiet time and staying here offered us best of both worlds. I would not call this a hotel, more of a villa and a home away from home. Full kitchen was updated with a nice area to eat in. […] We had a king size bed which was comfy. Spare bedroom had 2 twin beds with a sink, full closet and plenty of cabinets. Master bedroom has more than enough closet space, cabinets, tv a safe and has a small balcony. Living room is spacious with a tv, DVD player,mini stereo and a murphy bed if you need it and a nice balcony to just sit and relax on. The pools are good. The staff was great from the first day, very friendly and helpful. The beach is calm, you can just sit and relax in the water because it is somewhat sheltered so you do not get those big waves aside from boats going by. We enjoyed it so much that we asked about it and decided to buy a time share. A free shuttle takes you to other royal resorts if you please. If you are looking to just get away kick back then this place is for you. Take the bus or taxi to the nite life, Sam's club and Walmart is downtown but you'll need to take the bus or taxi unless you have a rental car or just buy your groceries from the store on the resort, it's not bad for the convenience of it. We are a family of five, the two bedroom one bathroom rental worked perfectly for us. Pros... good price, great room, staff very friendly, free bicycles, snorkel gear, one person sail boats, pools are nicely kept. Close to Viamar - the shuttle to Isla mujeres. Some local stores and taquerias. Only Con - the beach, not the nicest for Cancun - clear water […] but 60 percent with sea grass, no waves. great for small kids. However you can go to any of the other Royal Hotels. We went to the Royal Sands - really nice beach and great waves. You can order drinks and food with the same room key at any of the other Royal hotels - convenient. A shuttle leaves every two hours... or you can take a bus for .60 cents. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, beautifully maintained hotel The Royal Cancun is it. We traveled with our two teenage kids so the second bedroom was a huge bonus. The full kitchen was really handy. You could pick up everything at the grocery store on site and also order Take Out food from the restaurant such as Lasagna, rotiserrie chicken, […] tortillas etc. The Happy Hour specials were great, 1/2 off all tropical drinks. Everyone working at the hotel was friendly and helpful. We looked at other hotels in the heart of Cancun but the Royal was amazing. The dock on the beach had great snorkeling and we saw lots of fish, rays, etc. The beach is well maintained and the hotel personnel keep an eye on who is accessing the pool, palapas and beach lounges. This room was very nice in the sense that you did not feel like you were staying in a hotel. it felt like you had your own private fully furnished two bedroom Condo right on the beach. it had a full size fridge and kitchen fully stocked with anything you would need to prepare food. a full living room with a TV couch and a full size kitchen table. it's […] a great way to save some money. there was a walmart about 10 minutes away in town that we were able to buy plenty of drinks and snacks for our stay rather inexpensively. the air conditioning was also fabulous. if you wanted to i think you could refrigerate meat in there. the whole apartment cools off very nicely and provides a great refuge from the humid heat of Cancun. The Beach wasn't much to my liking mainly because it was very shallow and no waves. great for kids though. you have to go an hour down to Playa del Carmen to see any really good beaches. the food at the "palapa" the hotel restaurant right on the beach is actually pretty good and reasonably priced. it just gets frustrating that you can only pay with your room account but that's manageable. The only thing that really became an issue was Wifi. they have great signal saturation throughout the whole building. the only problem is it is extremely slow. the most I was able to get was 130kb down. it's enough to post on facebook and with great effort look up information. over all I would say i felt very comfortable.
