"Great place, odd all inclusive policy"
The hotel was a great place to stay. The rooms were large clean and all grounds and buildings were well-maintained. The weather was cool this time of year but the pools are heated and comfortable. Restaurant options were limited but it helped having access to the other sister hotels affiliated with the Royal franchise. My only complaint would be with […] the administration of the all-inclusive package. This resort requires you to pay for your food and drinks using your room key like a credit card. Even though the bill comes to zero each time,you still have to give the card at the beginning of your meal or when you get a drink at the bar and wait for it to be returned with the receipt to sign for at the end. We often sat and waited for our keycard and check instead of getting on with our day and spending more time at the pool or the beach. Also when leaving a tab open at the bar we didn't have a key to get into a room with as the key was left with the bartender for the day. Finally when receiving our check there was a line for additional tip, it difficult to decide on how much the tip should be when the balance on the check was zero. With the all-inclusive already including the tip in your price, I'm not sure why they leave a line for additional tip on every receipt you have to sign at every meal and bar service. "Great kids friendly hotel with all inclusive package!"
I spend more than 30 days at hotels for business and leisure. This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed for the price. We had the all inclusive package, which was a great decision. The hotel has 2 onsite restaurants and you can also go to 10 other restaurants in the hotel zone free of charge! Including the top restaurant "Capital Cove's". The […] hotel provides shuttle bus to their sister hotels in hotel zone. Personally I would just go across the street and take bus. Bus runs 24/7 and only cost 9.5 Pesos, very convenient! The stuffs are very friendly and willing to help. We had some issue with the room at first night, and Vinceto took care of it! The hotel was built in 1977, so the room is little outdated, but still very comfortable. However, not a lot access to electric plug. The hotel is very kids friendly, they got whatever you need including kids toy for beach! The beach is clean and not deep, so this is a great place for kids. We just arrived home from one week at the Royal Cancun and had the most enjoyable time ever in Cancun. The rooms were very nice. The entire staff was top notch from the front desk and wait staff to the maids and shuttle drivers. The food was good. Timeshare type property, which allows 'all inclusive' rentals if there is availability. We went here due to bringing both teenagers so there was extra room and beds. "Beautiful resort right on the beach"
My husband and I just got back from staying at the Royal Cancun. Everything was above and beyond our expectations. Our check in was complete in a matter of 10 minutes. The rooms were immaculate and sparkling clean. Very nicely decorated. The grounds and landscaping were beautiful. Every employee we met were so friendly and helpful in any way they could. […] They take so much pride in their service. The food at the restaurants were fabulous. The breakfast buffet was pretty much the same thing but all the food was so good. The Italian r3esturant was delicious. We caught the local bus right outside the hotel for 10 pesos (approx. 90 cent) to the malls and flea markets. The hotel offers free shuttle to it's sister resort, the Royal Sands. That was a lot busier but we ate at one of the resturants which was included and the food was great. the only downside to this entire trip is the resort does not offer a shuttle to and from the airport. After a long day stuck at the airport due to weather delay. Our vacation was starting off horribly. Once I arrived at The Royal Cancun our vacation took a positive turn greeted by friendly staff. It was late when we arrived and we were extremely hungry. We were accommodated by room service with some delicious food. "Ok 4 1st timers, needs new experienced management"
1st the lobby needs to be more Mexican!, First impression: I go to check in and the receptionist asks for my credit card!, I tell him that I have all exclusive deal and I don't feel comfortable leaving my credit card at the front desk, so he goes, then leave cash!!, I insist that I'm not leaving my card nor cash, charge whatever to my room and I'll […] pay it at check out, after 15 minutes of waiting for him making his calls to his managers, he gives me the keys to my room with no apology! I drag my luggage to my room and which was a wonderful beachfront 2 bed/2 baths villa. 3 restaurants, one is no where to be found, so it's down to 2!, everywhere you go, you have to give them the room key (although, it is all inclusive!!) except for the bathroom!, later I get a call from my "Concierge" who is supposed to make your stay magical by guiding you to all these restaurants and located on "Sister hotels" premises, only to find out that he is a Time share sales person and whom I'm very familiar with from other resorts that I've been to and learnt not to waste my time on. I travel with my wife and 4 kids, I go to rent a Jetski for 1/2 hr. to take each kid for 5 minutes and this is thrilling to them!, I sign and ready to go when the attendant tells me that I have to take each kid for 15 minutes!, yes he is telling me what to do! We stayed at this place for 8 nights, and it was a great experience. Our 10 years old son enjoyed the beach and the warm and calm shallow water. He is not a strong swimmer, and this place was perfect for him to be able to spend hours in the water and not get tired. The food at La Trattoria restaurant had a very good menu. The other restaurant on site […] had a decent menu, but the cleanliness could be better. Well, for an open air restaurant, it is quite good but not great. The possibility of spending the day (eating at the restaurants on that site and using the pool, towels and beach chairs) at Royal Sands was a nice surprise, and we spent two half days there, just to experience the waves and a different pool. This resort is great. It was our second time going to cancun, our first with our kids. And we just loved our room, resort, beach and food. It's beach is kinda small but good for the kids. The good: 1. Hotel condition excellent, everything was well kept, every detail taken care of, very very clean, walls well painted, rooms in excellent condition, 2. Good internet connectivity, the small apartment we stayed at had it's own router with very good connection speed, in common areas they had wifi but not to watch movies just to read email […] or web browsing, they even had a wifi antenna by the beach so you could have a good connection while resting, this was a good detail. 3. Food was also very good, lots of choices, well cooked, local dishes very well made, pastries, fish, fajitas, really a very good deal for the quality of the food 4. Service, at the restaurant and at the beach it was really good, you just don't see this kind of service at all in the U.S. very good 5. Pool, water well balanced, no harm to your eyes, clean well filtered very nice 6. Room, we stayed at a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment, very spacious, kitchen, full refrigerator, one room with double beds, one main room with king size plus an extra bed that unfolds from the wall in the living room, lots space, two TVs cable, everything functioning well. The not so good Check in process very very slow, about half an hour to get people registered, the employees at the front desk not very well informed, when I asked them about my room, they said, that's what you get assigned if you booked by Expedia almost meaning that was a 2nd tier room where in reality the room was very very good. I would only recommend this resort for family with young children. The resort itself is older but nice and well-taken cared of. The beach is great since it is extremely calm with hardly any waves which is great for very young children. "Great hotel, family-friendly and clean"
We loved this hotel, the fact that it is villas rather then huge hotel. Feels more like apartments. We had all-inclusive, and we did go to 3 out of 4 outside of the hotels restaurants (we had trouble finding the 4th one). Have we had more time, we maybe would go to other sister resorts to explore their restaurants as well. The beach was clean and we […] always could find a spot in the shade. Not many people were there too, and we liked this fact. At night there was no sounds from anywhere so we could have rest. We had 2-bedroom villa with resort view, it was great. I wouldn't want to be on the 1st floor because everyone can see you then What was not convenient is that we wanted to buy something in the hotel store, but for that we had to put deposit at the front desk because they have cashless system. So we didn't, because they have some min we wouldn't spend. But I think they give you all un-used $ back, not sure about it. Also, every time you eat or drink - you need to give the key room, it is a big inconvenience, later you feel the pressure to give a tip every time, but didn't we choose all-inclusive to avoid all this? My goal was to spend more on the travel, and spend nothing once we get there Aside from that, we loved the hotel and would recommend it to friends and family, and would come back It is not the place for party-people, and that's what we loved the most.
