      My husband and I stayed in a preferred room at the Now Sapphire for 10 nights in Feb. and wished we had booked a longer trip. The resort was beautiful, the food was good, and the people were friendly. We had dinner in all the restaurants except the Cibu although breakfast there was god. Our favorite was the Lemongrass both the regular menu and Hibatchi. If you buy a bottle of wine, you can sit at an outside table at the Lemongrass or Paramour. The water landscaping around these restaurants as well as the main resort area is beautiful. . Puerto Morelos is a little remote but with plenty of entertainment if that's what you like. We had an oceanfront room on the first floor with two double beds. We had asked for a king room but none were available for a couple days so the two double beds were put together and that worked out well. We elected to stay where we were since we loved the room location. We enjoyed the bali beds at the adults only pool. Much more comfortable than ones we've tried in the past. We usually like to spend more time at the beach but we had a few windy days and it was a little chilly so we moved to the pool which was more protected from the wind. I would only suggest a couple improvements. Air conditioning in the gym; It was very hot although I was content with the equipment. The other thing that would have been nice is the availability of food at the beach and pool areas so you don't have to go into a restaurant.

      This is a very nice airport hotel. Convenient, friendly helpful staff, comfortable rooms, lovely grounds and pool. With 2 small kids, it made our travel day so much easier to have spent the night before at the airport. We usually try not to support Marriott ... but this is the only hotel we'd consider within a few minutes of the Cancun airport.

      The hotel is on its own little island with a wood plank bridge as its access. It gives the facility a solitude but is extremely accessible to Hidalgo Street, the heart of town. the beds are a bit hard but would definiely stay again.

      The hotel overall was great. I had adjoining rooms and the one with the king bed was fine. I can see how some one may complain about the one with the double beds since there is no room in between the two. It wasn't an issue for me. I didnt spend that much time in the room. Food was good. A little bland but nothing a little salt can't fix. I had to ask for towels but when I did they were prompt about it and no questions asked. The stay was enjoyable and relaxing. Be open minded and flexible and you won't be disappointed.

    Located at the heart of the resort, surrounded by fountains and swimming pools and with sweeping views of the Caribbean, Tradewinds offers a mouthwatering menu full of International and Italian favorites for the whole family.

    Tradewinds Express
    This convenient Food to Go Counter in Tradewinds Restaurant offers a selection of home-style food for lunch or dinner in your villa. The menu includes BBQ Ribs, roast chicken, main course salads and desserts and you can also order box lunches for day trips.

    Recreation

    The Royal Caribbean nestles beside a secluded stretch of beach with tropical-style thatched shade umbrellas exclusively for guests. There are two outdoor swimming pools and a children's pool on site. Other recreational amenities include a fitness center and tennis courts.
    Scuba diving trips, PADI certifications, excursions and a variety of water sports can be arranged at the poolside water sports center and through the tour desk. Scuba diving demos are offered free of charge from Sunday to Thursday at noon at each of the resort pools.
    The Activity Center offers craft activities during the week such as sand design, stained glass, candle making, bracelets and t-shirt painting, or you and your family can join in the fun with beach volleyball, bingo or sand castle building, just some of the sports and games available for guests.
    At the Royal Marina on the shores of the lagoon, complimentary sailing lessons are available, as well as the free use of sailboats (one hour a day, per villa). Set sail for an exciting regatta on Friday.

    I was there for one night on business. Check in was quick and easy. When got to room it was not cleaned yes, but after I called, they were there in 3 minutes to clean. Lunch and dinner were great. Prices were reasonable. Excellent mattress and got good night sleep. Would stay again.

    We are honeymooners from Saudi Arabia, we have chosen this hotel as a terminal once we arrive to cancun. The hotel was very clean and the location was good. They have the largest swimming pool I have ever seen in my life. However, we were honeymooner and we did not find the privacy we wanted. Overall, this hotel is good for the money!!

    Arrived at airport around 11:30am and went through customs fairly quickly - do not speak to any of the fake transit services in the airport - book your transit to the hotel beforehand thru Thomas More and walk outside and look for the Thomas More yellow shirts and badges (don't speak to other services, they will all say they are Thomas More and convince […] you to go with them) - our Thomas More coordinator walked us to our private van and the driver was courteous and helpful. We arrived at the Royal Caribbean Resort around noon the Sunday before Thanksgiving - was told our room was not available yet and check-in was at 4:00pm. Only a 3 hour wait and they checked us in at 3:00pm. The Royal Caribbean is between the Royal Mayan and the Royal Islander. There are 6 pools / 6 restaurants between the three resorts and Captains Cove is a 5min walk. The Tradewinds restaurant has good food, but is too expensive - it reminded us of TGIF, Chilis, or Applebees - two adults and two children was $100USD. The beach is excellent with plenty of thatched umbrellas, lounge chairs, and white sand, water was nice - around 65F in November. Thomas More also booked us a Caribbean Catamaran Sailboat to Isle Mujeres - reef snorkling, private beach - good lunch and drinks, shopping for about 2 hours - Our guide was Sasha and he introduced each segment with instructions in German, English, and Spanish.     We just returned from a 10 day trip to Cancun, we stayed at the Royal Sands the first 7 days and at the Royal Carribean the remainder of the stay. The royal sands was nice and appears to be a bit younger then the royal Carribean. The royal Carribean is starting to show its age and the rooms require a renovation. The grounds were very well kept and in […] general the property is well kept. The staff works very hard and were for most part very service oriented. The royal resorts are time shares so expect the sales personnel (concierge) to attempt to sell you a time share. We had a one bedroom suite and it was adequately sized for the four of us (2 adults, 2 kids), the Murphy twin beds were very uncomfortable, hard as a rock, but my kids didn't seem to mind since they were very tired after all of the daily activities. The bathrooms ventilation / exhaust was very poor, with condensation developing in the bathroom as well as the outside sink/ dresser area. The air conditioning was very loud and if you are a light sleeper it will wake you. The thermostats did not have a feature to allow the fan to run continually, so this also added to the units noise level with the start and stop action. The bathroom ceiling was in bad shape. The tub did not drain quickly enough to keep up with the water pressure. I stood in a puddle during my entire shower. Whenever we tried to turn down the water pressure, the showerhead would just turn off. The pool set up was good. However, the day we got there, we went to get into the pool and there was green stuff floating in it.The beach was nice, however you had to walk down about four flights of stairs to get to it, which really killed it for us. Again, there were kids everywhere, which was disappointing for us. Everything at the resort closes early. We went to get ice cream a little before 9pm and the girl said it closed at 8:45pm. Pool bar closes at 6:30pm and the beach bar closes at 5pm (really annoyed us). With the exception of my nit-picky complaints, the resort was OK. If $ is a big factor for you, this hotel is a good option. I would recommend this resort to families, but I would urge couples to stay away. Read more

    The good: The layout of the room was great (we had a two room suite). Deck was big with lots of room afor a table and lounge chairs. Beautiful view. Pool was nice, clean, and very large. Beach was absolutely amazing. Bus stop in front of hotel which is cheap, clean, and really efficient. Each guests at the hotel has their own key tied to his/her name. […] So, if you travel with a group the hotel room bill will automatically itemize each guests transactions - we found this very convenient. The bad: The food was disgusting. The beds were REALLY uncomfortable. Also, the maid service was not good at all. Basically they made the beds and brought in new towels - no cleaning. The front desk customer service was the worst I've ever experienced in Mexico. The hotel was nice and relaxing but you do have to take a cab or a bus to get a decent meal. That's fine (even preferable for dinner) but can be tiresome for breakfast or a quick lunch when you just want to lay on the beach. The age of the guests were all substantially older then us (we were all 30). It was like being at a retirement community. We didn't mind - it made the pool side lounging very calm and relaxing.     Upon our check-in, we were advised that the staff wanted us to put $150/day on a room card for meals & incidentals at the resort. We were staying for 3 days so the clerk wanted $450. Considering it was just myself & my husband, I knew $450 was too much for us to spend during that time so I was able to work out putting $150 cash down instead. The resort is "cashless" & it works well, tho I do think how much deposit you put down should be on a case-by-case basis. Our room was a nice size, with a fridge, microwave & kitchen utensils. The beds were comfortable & the room very clean. We checked in on a Saturday & by Monday afternoon, had to request maid service from the resort. It's still unclear why we didn't receive maid service without asking, but we did appreciate the clean towels. The Tradewinds Restaurant had some very tasty meals (great chips & salsa!) & the gelato stand in the lobby was a big hit also! Overall, the hotel staff was friendly & accomodating. The prices in the restaurant & shops were generally reasonable, especially for a resort. The swimming pool was fantastic with always plenty of lounge chairs to go around.     The Royal Caribbean and its sister properties are not hotels but timeshares. We were not informed about this when we rented two different 2 night stays at the RC on Expedia. Why does it make a difference? Because when you are there over a Saturday, you are subject to having to change villas and move to another room (what they call a "lock-off" which […] is the extra bedroom of a villa which is rented out and can be locked off from the rest of the villa). And their rules say that you, the guest, must be there when the bellboy comes to help you move your clothes and suitcases. In our case, that meant we lost an hour from our one whole day in Cancun during which one of us had to return to the room and await the switch. They do not even apologize for this because they are a timeshare, not a hotel, and that is just the way it works. There will be no compensation for this inconvenience because they are not a hotel, but a membership association and any compensation would have to come out of members fees.     the hotel was ok, pool was nice. NOT enough food options available and I have never in my life had a bed that was worse than this one. I literally could hear the springs/coils collapsing, when i laid down each nite, and woke up each morning barely able to move.

    The hotel was great. The staff was very pleasant, the room was very clean (a little dated, but nice). The beach was beautiful and kept very clean vs. other resorts beaches.     This hotel was perfect for our family of 5 (children ages 15, 12, 9) on a short trip to Cancun (our first, so we have nothing to compare to.) The villa had 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, kitchen, living area, and balcony overlooking the pool/beach. All units have view of the ocean and pool, although some do sit right on the beach. The room was clean and […] the beds were very comfortable. Checked for bedbugs (headboard, mattress, boxspring) and saw no evidence. The hotel had a reasonably priced market in the lobby with the basics and some fresh fruit so we could have breakfast in our room every morning. Restaurants on the property and neighboring properties were fine. Nothing outstanding - but a variety of food and prices weren't outrageous. Good coffee bar in lobby to satisfy latte cravings. Service was very good and all staff were very courteous and friendly. Any requests were handled promptly. Daily maid service was excellent (but no service on Sunday.) "Concierge" assigned to you can be a bit pushy, but we politely declined all meetings and it wasn't a problem. Very few negatives: bathrooms are rather dim - those compact flourescent bulbs really don't do a good job of lighting a dark space. Gym is in the lobby and better than most hotel gyms, but got very busy right at opening time (7 a.m.), resulting in a wait for equipment. Could use a few more treadmills and elipticals (although it was beautiful to run/walk outside!) Also, since this is a timeshare property with a Saturday turnover, if you stay over a Saturday night, you may need to move to a different unit. Not a luxury hotel, but we thought it was an excellent choice for us: reasonably priced, lots of space, clean and relatively new furnishings; right on the beach; nice pools (3 of them, all connected; also a swim-up bar.)     Royal Caribbean is in the middle of three Royal properties, all connected and right on the perfect Cancun beach, and the public facilites are interchangeable. However, I got lost several times looking for my room because the layouts are exactly alike. The room was lovely, and most importantly, the bed and pillows wonderfully comfortable (not common […] in Mexico generally). Every room has a view of the various pools and beach. Service was as good as any "regular" hotel. The difference from other properties on hotel row is that this is a timeshare, and so not all-inclusive. The restaurants on the Royal properties are expensive, as well as the grocery store in the Royal Caribbean. But it is easy to take a bus to the town and restaurants. There are shops and a travel agency in the lobby. And a welcome feature in Cancun in the big hotels--You can put toilet paper in the toilet, and you can drink the tap water. Horray! I was traveling solo, but the facility is family-friendly, with activities for children. My standard room had a separate alcove with microwave, frig., and coffee maker, a walk-in closet with safe, iron and ironing board, and hairdrier in bathroom. Read more
