"Amazing Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Na Balam got some underserved poor scores. The location happened to be the best location on the island (as far as beaches go), and fairly convenient to excitement of down town. The grounds were spectacular, and for such a reasonable price. Front desk and beach bar staff were not amazing, but not bad either. They could do some training on customer service in order to make it a more magical experience, but all in all, it was acceptable service.
"great deal for your money"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Fantastic deal for your money. The confirmation from hotels.com said that our room had ocean, pool and garden view.... it didn't. The view was just trees. We had booked a king size bed but got 2 queens instead so that was disappointing but over all a great place. Men need to bring long pants if you're planning on eating in the a'la cart restaurants. The buffets are great, a'la cart is ok.

I loved the hotel and the service is wonderful, however I was really disappointed in the beach. We had to travel to another Palace resort to swim in the ocean and take pictures. But that is my only complaint.

The Cancun Hotel Zone rests on a slit of land bound by a lagoon and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Sunseekers crowd the white-sand beaches. At night, the action moves to the restaurants, clubs, and bars that line Boulevard Kukulcán, the area’s main artery. This road passes by the El Rey ruins, believed to be a king’s tomb.

Everything that you could expect from a hotel of this category. Professional and friendly staff, very clean, excellent service, nice amenities. A few cons: balcony doors do not have bug screens, there was an extra fee for using the gym, and it is not within walking distance to markets and shopping centers but you can easily take a bus or taxi anywh […] ere. "A Beatuful Hotel/Resort!"
Upon our check-in, we were advised that the staff wanted us to put $150/day on a room card for meals & incidentals at the resort. We were staying for 3 days so the clerk wanted $450. Considering it was just myself & my husband, I knew $450 was too much for us to spend during that time so I was able to work out putting $150 cash down instead. If not, […] the portion of the $450 I wouldn't use would remain as a "hold" on my credit card for several days & would be unavailable for use during the remainder of our trip. The resort is "cashless" & it works well, tho I do think how much deposit you put down should be on a case-by-case basis. Our room was a nice size, with a fridge, microwave & kitchen utensils. The beds were comfortable & the room very clean. We checked in on a Saturday & by Monday afternoon, had to request maid service from the resort. It's still unclear why we didn't receive maid service without asking, but we did appreciate the clean towels. The Tradewinds Restaurant had some very tasty meals (great chips & salsa!) & the gelato stand in the lobby was a big hit also! Overall, the hotel staff was friendly & accomodating. The prices in the restaurant & shops were generally reasonable, especially for a resort. The swimming pool was fantastic with always plenty of lounge chairs to go around. Though the sea was rough, the beach was gorgeous! We would definitely stay there again! Read more
"Nice, but beware the entertainment."
Our stay was not all bad. The accommodations were what we expected and the views were wonderful. What wasn't good was finding ourselves paying way to much for one of their restaraunts in house shows. The buffet was nothing fantastic and if we were drinkers the all you can drink would have maybe made it more appealing. And the so called entertainment […] was cheesy a bit slow and the costumes looked as if they hadn't been cleaned or take. Care of. When the bill arrived it was quite different then what was listed on the very out of the way advertisment. 50.00 usd per person was resiculous. When we tried to talk to someone about it we were given the run around an in true end they gave us 20% refund. If you do decide to stay here go eat else where there are better places to choose. "Quiet location but slow and unfriendly service"
If you like to stay at the old and quiet resort without any extras (this is not a hotel! - as they mentioned many times), this is a nice place to stay. If you are used to have fast and friendly and service, you might not get it here. Slow and unfriendly reseption. Nice beach and good pool area. On Saturdays you need to change your room. For us the […] changing room took 5 hours until the new room had been cleaned. Read more
"Royal Carribean"
The hotel was great, the pools were fabulous, the beach was beautiful. My only complaint was the food at the restaurant was overpriced and mediocre.
"Royal Caribbean"
the hotel was ok, pool was nice. NOT enough food options available and I have never in my life had a bed that was worse than this one. I literally could hear the springs/coils collapsing, when i laid down each nite, and woke up each morning barely able to move.
"Totally Impressed with Royal Resorts"
Royal Caribbean and the four other nearby shared resorts is a whole new experience in great hospitality, great eating places, beautiful beach, and the cleanest resort we have visited. What an eye-opener!
"Nice hotel, BUT NO shampoo, coffee, or extras"
Nice room with coffee maker, but no coffee. Nothing included. The staff was rude when I asked for shampoo. Said I could buy it at the "market". The Market is a store in the lobby that sells all the toiletries, food, etc. so you have to buy and pay for everything that would normally be provided by a decent hotel. I have never stayed in a big hotel that […] cost that much a night that does not provide even shampoo! Ask for a higher floor overlooking pool and ocean. Read more
"Beautiful Place"
Spent one night in this lovely resort. Beautiful views of the beach and ocean. Great for older people because of the rules for quietness, etc. Not a lot of teenagers. Great resturants and pool as well as other amenities. Highly recommend.
"Short but nice Stay"
I chose to stay here for a night as I had a 6am flight out of Cancun (I had been in cozumel for a week). It is a nice place, well appointed, the beach is great and pools are great - only thing they lacked was a hot tub - which would have been nice at night as it was quite cool and rained. Ate at the restraunt that had an all you could eat buffet for […] 220 pesoes not a bad price for the meal. I would stay there again. Read more

very good location. very good staff, very good service,we really enjoy stay in this hotel.
"A great hotel for a family vacation."
This hotel was perfect for our family of 5 (children ages 15, 12, 9) on a short trip to Cancun (our first, so we have nothing to compare to.) The villa had 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, kitchen, living area, and balcony overlooking the pool/beach. All units have view of the ocean and pool, although some do sit right on the beach. The room was clean and […] the beds were very comfortable. Checked for bedbugs (headboard, mattress, boxspring) and saw no evidence. The hotel had a reasonably priced market in the lobby with the basics and some fresh fruit so we could have breakfast in our room every morning. Restaurants on the property and neighboring properties were fine. Nothing outstanding - but a variety of food and prices weren't outrageous. Good coffee bar in lobby to satisfy latte cravings. Service was very good and all staff were very courteous and friendly. Any requests were handled promptly. Daily maid service was excellent (but no service on Sunday.) "Concierge" assigned to you can be a bit pushy, but we politely declined all meetings and it wasn't a problem. Very few negatives: bathrooms are rather dim - those compact flourescent bulbs really don't do a good job of lighting a dark space. Gym is in the lobby and better than most hotel gyms, but got very busy right at opening time (7 a.m.), resulting in a wait for equipment. Could use a few more treadmills and elipticals (although it was beautiful to run/walk outside!) Also, since this is a timeshare property with a Saturday turnover, if you stay over a Saturday night, you may need to move to a different unit. Not a luxury hotel, but we thought it was an excellent choice for us: reasonably priced, lots of space, clean and relatively new furnishings; right on the beach; nice pools (3 of them, all connected; also a swim-up bar.) Would definitely recommend to others, and would like to return sometime. Read more
"Royal Resorts in Cancun"
Awesome facility. Close to everything, easy access and suburb service and quality for the price
i would recommend staying further south toward cozumel. nearly all activities we did were about an hour south of the hotel
"Enjoyed Royal resorts in Cancun"
We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of Royal resorts. We enjoyed useing all 3 resorts that were close together and then the free shuttle to Sands Resort. Disappointed in few slow elevators. Like 1 for 2 or 3 huge buildings with 11 floor of rooms. We had ants in our kitchen and had to call for 3 days until finally someone came and fixed the […] problem. Free use of bikes snorkeling and other equipment - free tennis and wifi - only the Internet get disconnecting every time you stopped using it for a few minutes. Would love to have some hot tub with not much to do at evening or cool windy nights and days. Read more
"The Royal Caribbean"
great view. great value for the money. stayed only 1 night but enjoyed it very much. there is a supermarket across the street and we bought there food and it was very nice.
"Royal Carribean Cancun"
Nice hotel excellent service. We were there during a hurrican warning, and the staff took quick action to make the hotel safe for all guests. They were well prepared and made the guests safe. There are three hotels joined together by a walkway,so we were able to enjoy the facilites at all three hotels. Nice family feel.

"Too bad operation in Checkout rush hour."
The amenity is excellent and enjoyed staying. One thing I disappinted was a bad operation on the checkout time around 11:00 AM. Even though there is a long lines, the easygoing cloak people responses to interrupted people so many times and made us wait and irritated. It took 30 min to wait their slow operation for 2 minutes checkout. The next person […] also waited 30 min to just changing money and realized they have enough local currency to be changed. I could say the cloak might not know how to prioritize things and how to respond to customers. Except for the last 30 min, I am satisfied with the hotel. Read more
