Not very satisfied. Staff was okay, but the hotel was not the most accommodating. The AC in the room was so loud, we had to turn it off even though the room was sweltering. Will not stay here again.

The hotel was pleasant enough but if I was staying for more than one night I would have chosen another hotel. Although it was clean, the bathroom wasn't very appealing and the water pressure was horrible.

We stayed here for a trip to Newport, as it was cheaper than staying right in the heart of it. The neighborhood was very nice. The hotel was clean and well-kept. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. But it had two big flaws. 1: the water pressure in the shower was ridiculously low. They need to realize that it doesn't help costs or the environment if you have to take a super long shower to get out all the soap & shampoo. 2: The walls were very thin. We could hear absolutely everything happening outside our door and in the room next to us.

The exterior of this hotel is a little off putting. Not really sure what we were in for, but once inside, it was very nice. This is a budget hotel, so if you are expecting a 5 star stay, don't stay here. We were in town for my daughter's graduation at a local University. The hotel front desk staff were exceptionally nice, and the room (King) was spacious and very clean. Access to supermarkets, shopping and restaurants is good. Close to Newport, RI, although if I were planning a 3 or 4 night vacation, I might choose another location. For us, it was perfect for a one night stay. I would book this hotel again if I needed a one or two night stay in the area.

This seems like a hotel that puts more effort and upgrades into the quality of their rooms than their exterior/lobby, which I think is awesome. I needed a place to crash while attending a wedding, and this hotel definitely did the trick. It was exactly what I expected, and I definitely thought my stay was worth the money I paid for it. Check-in and check-out were easy, and while it isn't in a scenic location, it wasn't far from anywhere. The free breakfast wasn't super desirable, but that's more on me than on them (it's hard to eat right when there's a donut shop down the street). Nice job, Ambassador Inn and Suites.

The positves- a friendly staff, cost, location. Now the negatives- the rooms could be cleaned a bit better. One of the beds had sheets that did jot appear to have been washed. No issue with the other bed so I chose to sleep on that one, Lol. Bathroom outdated, dark and could use some attention. Hallway carpet very dirty. Bottom line- will do in a pinch. I knew going in it wasn't a five star hotel, and overall for the money, not that bad except for the issues mentioned above.

First appearance lobby is kept clean. Rooms are clean, updated and comfortable. I have read some of the previous reviews and I think some people are way to picky. For the price it's a good value.

I have stayed here in the past, and there were only a few other rooms that seemed to be occupied. I was very disappointed to see what was offered for breakfast. A few pieces of bread, a couple danish, cereal. They had a waffle maker, but no waffle mix. Not appealing at all. Some fresh fruit would have been nice or yogurt. They didn't seem to make it a priority with only a few rooms filled. Also, a musty smell as you walk into lobby. I have been going here for almost 2 years when I come to the area and for some reason the smell lingers. The rooms however, make up for the other issues.

The room was very clean, lots of space, and the bedding was so comfortable. Breakfast was out an hour later than website noted but was filling. The hotel was close to our conference site and many other attractions in the area.

I just stayed for a quick overnighter, arriving late and leaving early so had few needs of amenities. The room was pleasant, bed and linens comfortable and clean. The bathroom looked new. Black out curtains, quiet heater.The staff was helpful and nice. Parking lot well lit. I have no complaints to report.

Pros * Price was fair * Hotel had an Ice Machine & Vending Machine that worked * Hotel had complementary newspaper * The TV worked (although very dated model) * All the Lights & Lamps worked (vintage lamps) * Hairdryer in bathroom worked * Room had basic toiletries (Shampoo, Conditioner & Soap) * Room had clean Towels & Facecloths * Room had Ironing Board & Iron * Room had a small Coffeemaker, Coffee & Tea Packets * Room had an Ice bucket for ice & clean drinking glasses * Room had a Small Refrigerator that worked * Room had a Phone that worked & a local Phone Book * Room had a Bible Cons * There was no one at the desk to welcome guests * There was no one who stayed at the desk throughout the day & evening * The room smelled mildewy & musky (needed air fresheners) * The sheets smelled funky & mildewy (needed re-washing) * The heating system was very antiquated * The heating system barely worked & when it did it was very difficult to get it adjusted just right * Some of the wallpaper was peeling off in the room * Some of the wallpaper above shower was peeling off * Needs better water pressure for both sink & shower (not enough water pressure, more like water dribbles out) * Stale cereal does not make a continental breakfast (no donuts, muffins, croissants, danishes or other pastries, no coffee, tea, fruit, juices, milk or other breakfast items were present at the times of the continental breakfast and no staff was present either.)

The room smelled like mold...the attendant was in his room when we got there and had to call him by phone to serve us...there was no free breakfast. Our room looked like a dog was in it. Horrible stay...I itched the whole 2 days....will NEVER RETURN!!!!

The hotel room was not bad, but the bathroom needs update. The service was horrible, and the breakfast was very poor, comparing with the pictures. I don't know if was because it is winter and tat is a more a summer vacation town.

The parking lot was partially plowed and very icy. There was no one at the desk to welcome guests. The room smelled like a smoking lounge although the sign posted said "no smoking". We had to call to get towels that weren't saturated with cigarette smoke. We stayed there in the coldest day of the year and froze our butts of because the heating system barely worked. My poor wife pulled a chair up to the heater so she could lean against it to warm up. Definitely will not be returning.

For a weekend getaway, to check out Newport, this seemed like a good deal, as suggested by Google. And it was. Good for the price. The water pressure is low, the shower head sucks [not adjustable, as suggested], and the door card reader seemingly needs an update. but beside those--- nothing but an A from me. Especially the bed. Comfy :) A good deal overall. Thanks, Ambassador Inn, for a pleasant stay. I will recommend you to my friends, and who knows, we may be back sooner than later. Thanks again, Jim

Clean, safe, comfortable, not a luxury hotel but not the worst either. Rooms were a nice size, near some stores and restaurants but about 10-15 minutes to Newport (Mansions-Beach)

First off, I would sleep in my car before every staying there again! To begin with, the non-smoking room reeked of stale smoke and curry. I had to go out and buy air freshener. All the things in the room had "Econolodge" printed on them, yet when I asked about adding the room to my "Choice Privileges" rewards, I was told they were no longer part of that program. The room key had to be changed 7 times because it wouldn't work in the exterior door or our room. The TV remote batteries were dead, and even when replaced it was broken. No hot water for 2 days. The garbage was not emptied when they cleaned the room. There was dried blood on the pillow case. The iron board only went up half way, and then wouldn't go down. I had to sit on the bed to iron my stuff. The window had no lock on it, and we were on the ground floor. The screen looked like someone had tried to get in. The curtain wouldn't close, so the lights from the parking lot shone in all night. the ceiling paint was chipping off in the room and the bathroom. All the hotels were booked solid in the area because of a marathon and bike race, so we had no choice but to stick it out. This place needs to be torn down and re-built. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The parking lot at the grocery store across the street was cleaner. By the way, I gave this entire list to the guy behind the desk when I left, and he just smiled. He never offered an apology or any sort of compensation for our troubles. Speaks volumes!

The front desk staff were very pleasant and welcoming. On the whole a comfortable room with all the usual in-room amenities ( coffee maker, fridge/microwave, iron/ironing board, big screen HDTV ) great beds and pillows, and nice clean sheets and duvet. It was a quiet place. Housekeeping was a bit lax with dust on lamps, picture frames, and alarm clock and something sticky on the bedside table; but the bathroom was immaculate. The complimentary breakfast was a bit skimpy.

This hotel was way overpriced. Didn't have enough food for breakfast -- no fruit, ran out of eggs. They were overloading a circuit to run breakfast so the power would go out every 3 minutes. The woman from the hotel working breakfast was in her PJs, no bra -- a little awkward to be interacting with a stranger who wasn't dressed for the day. The internet wouldn't work well and it was hard to get websites to load. We were even situated near the lobby so we weren't very far from the router. This hotel wasn't a step up from Red Roof Inn, but was pretending to be with its overpriced room.

I have stayed here in the past and have been very happy. Unfortunately, when we turned in for the evening, my boyfriend looked down to see a condom wrapper on the floor. Not sure how this, of all things, could possibly be missed. This was hi first visit to the hotel, and found it uncomfortable as the room should have been cleaned better. We started to question the rest of the room. Not sure if I would return because of this.

Staff was friendly but lacked ability to make you feel comfortable a problem was going to be taken care of quickly. Toilet did not flush properly, took two flushes for it to flush. Screen on slider on balcony would not slide and fell off tracks, they could not repair. Towels that were used were placed on floor in bathroom for maid to pick up and replace these were left and when we came back to the room later in the day noticed they were still there. Did not replace used face cloths or leave toilet paper. Dirty glasses and coffee cups were left behind and not replaced. The continental breakfast was from 7 am to 10 am. Getting to the little café area they had it was in complete darkness and this was after 7 am. Selection of food poor, some yogurt, muffins, small bagels, multigrain bread, cereal and waffle maker. Coffee was ok but only powder cream real cream would of been nice, and there was juice. Found that the circuit breaker constantly tripped and they had to be informed to reset it. Electricity would stay on a short while and then shut off again. This happened on the two days we stayed there.

We would definitely revisit this hotel. The pool was very nice but one view is facing parking lots of nearby businesses which offered no privacy and were noisy as well. The other view is facing a beautiful green field. We think a pool should be totally surrounded by a pleasant view. The room was very spacious, the beds were very comfortable and the layout was very functional. We were conveniently able to conduct our business from the room which offered a nice desk with many outlets for the computer etc. The continental breakfast was very generous and the kitchen very pleasant with a homey feeling. It is very close to shopping malls, supermarket and gasoline stations. A five minute trip away to downtown Newport. This hotel is a great alternative to the more popular Newport hotels.

Hotel was ok. Not the best but not the worse I've stayed. Middle of the road, no complaints but the breakfast was mediocer.

The hotel is very clean and quiet. It's pretty far north on the island so if you're in Newport for the mansions or beaches it's a bit of a hike. But, for the price it was a good value.

Dirty halls and stairs, stained comforters, and a noisy barely working AC. No pressure to even flush the toilet. Thank god we were only there for like 5 hours to sleep. Not the worst but hardly worth the rate they charge. Never again

There was a musty smell in the hallway but the room was okay. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was basic. Given the hotel prices in New Port, this was a decent place for what I paid. It is about 4 miles from downtown New Port.
