"unique and well placed"
Overall excellent- staff (Alberto)very welcoming and helpful in every way, Room clean and comfortable. The Inn traditional and homely in style although a litle squashed between larger blocks.Lovely garden back and front(former very private) and breakfast individually prepared and served - more than we could eat.Ideal location close to English Bay and […] restaurants/shops in Denman St. Due to change of ownership our booking had been lost so only had 2 nights instead of three but owner arranged excellent alternative accommodation for third night paying the difference in cost. They could not do more. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely, Enjoyable Place To Stay"

This inn is a very enjoyable B&B type establishment (and not to be confused with the very different English Bay Hotel that’s located on Denman Street). This inn’s location on Comox Street is perfect. It’s on a pleasantly quiet street, but only 2 blocks from busy Denman Street with its plethora of restaurants and shops and it’s only a 2-3 minute walk to Stanley Park or the Seawall. The inn itself is clean and nicely decorated with an elegant English flair, especially the dining room with its decked out dining table. You won’t want miss out on Alberto’s breakfasts. They were incredibly yummy and of 5 star restaurant quality. Jacy was very patient with our ever changing arrival dates and times and helpful in answering our questions about Vancouver. Alberto was very pleasant and accommodating- taking care of our daily requests and needs. Even though we failed to notify Jacy in advance that we had a car, Alberto was able to secure parking for us in the back of the inn at the last minute. I would recommend the English Bay Inn to anyone- especially if they enjoy the B&B type lodging experience.

My pattern was the same almost everyday that I stayed here. After an extremely tasty and ample breakfast, I would walk a block and half to Denman St. and buy a day transit pass at the 7 Eleven on the corner. The number 5 bus will take you to Robson - shopping, art museum, more restaurants. The C21 will take you to the Yaletown train station or along the waterfront where you can catch an Aquabus or False Creek Ferry (neither is part of public transportation) to Granville Island. I had Room 1 overlooking the back courtyard. I did not hear noise from the other guests at night. (I did worry that I made noise as the door to my room stuck a little bit.) The room is recommended as a single, and I was traveling alone. You could fit two people in the bed, but there is only one chair in the room. The room had a large closet, and while I travel light, it could easily accommodate multiple suitcases and hiking or ski equipment. Their website needs updating. They reference a shuttle from the airport that has not been operational for a few years. Here's a hint. You can take the Canada Line from the airport to the Yaletown Station, and then transfer to the C21 Yaletown/Beach, which will drop you just a couple blocks from the inn. I think with tip, my taxi from the airport to the inn was $40 Canadian.
"A Welcoming B&B in Vancouver"

We spent 6 days in room 5 at the English Bay Inn. This is a comfortable 2-level room at the top of the house. Alberto made us feel at home and cooked a variety of wonderful breakfasts, including salmon frittata, french toast, omelettes, salmon quesadilla, and croque madam. Each breakfast also included a fresh fruit salad, excellent coffee, orange juice, and muffins or donuts. Every breakfast was different and we also enjoyed the conversations with the other guests and Alberto. The location of this bed and breakfast is perfect. English Bay is only a 2-minute walk and we enjoyed watching the sunset while walking along the sea wall every evening. Many great restaurants are within walking distance on Denman and Robson streets and we also walked to all major parts of downtown Vancouver, including Yaletown, Gastown, Chinatown, Coal Harbor, and Canada Place. Alberto was very accommodating and resolved any of our concerns quickly. My wife needed some extra shelf space by the since and he had the shelf in place when we arrived. The shower drain was slow on the first night but he fixed the problem the next day when we told him about it. Many hotels in Vancouver charge extra for daily parking, but the parking here is free as long as you notify Alberto to reserve your parking spot in advance. Driving in the immediate area of the inn is a bit of a challenge because of the large amount of people, bikes, and cars and narrow roads, but it was good to have a car in order to explore some of the surrounding areas that are not within walking distance.
"Wonderful B&B; Perfect Location"

A charming B&B, with gracious hosts Alberto and Jacy. Excellent breakfasts -- omelets, quiche, fresh fruit, good coffee and juice. Our family of four stayed the first 3 nights in Rooms 4&5, then together in the basement suite (with kitchen) the last 3 nights. Room 5 was a delightful loft unit, and the basement apartment suite was nice for the four of us. Room 4 was very nice, but a bit small. A great location just a block from the water at English Bay, and 2 blocks from a wide variety of great restaurants on Denman Street. Also about a 3 minute walk to Stanley Park.

We stayed for a week and English Bay Inn felt like home but with better breakfasts. An excellent place to stay and an ideal base to see most of downtown Vancouver from. Jacy made booking easy and Alberto was a very helpful host and cooked excellent breakfasts. We especially loved the fruit plates and the good coffee but the omelettes, quiches and other hot food was beautifully cooked and presented too. (We also thoroughly enjoyed the discussions we had with the other guests at breakfast.) Being able to sit outside on the patio on comfortable furniture on sunny days was a bonus we made full use of. This area is an easy walking distance to downtown, very close to Stanley park, the waterfront and lots of restaurants on Denman Street. There are good bus services to other parts of the city and little False Creek ferries were within walking distance too.
"Perfect for our family"

Our family of 8 got 4 rooms at the English Bay Inn. We loved the hospitality we received from Alberto. He made delicious breakfasts and was very accommodating to our family. The rooms do not provide A/C units but with the open windows, it was very cool. My only compliant was that it took a while to cool down room 5 because of the windows (you have to close them when you're not there). Love it here though!
"Perfect B&B experience"

Had the best time here for 3 nights the day after Christmas. Got an amazing deal where our third night was free. The breakfasts were phenomenal, restaurant style and huge. I'm gluten free and they more than accommodated me. The place itself is adorable and cozy. Fireplaces and gorgeous details and is in the BEST location as a tourist. A block from Stanley park, bike rentals and easily walkable to downtown. I cannot recommend this place enough. Me and my fiancé had the perfect stay and can't wait to go back.
"I am still full from the breakfasts!"

This place is a real gem. Doug is a great host and will ensure that you have an easy and comfortable stay. It was my first time staying in a bed and breakfast and it was lovely. There is complimentary port and sherry and the breakfasts are INCREDIBLE. He begins with a seasonal fruit plate, then some kind of breakfast pastry. By that time you're full but then comes the main breakfast course. We had Kahlua french toast and eggs bennedict. The house is cozy and warm and you will look forward to coming back to it after a fun day in vancouver!
"Absolutely wonderful! #1, best B&B in Vancouver!"
11/26/13 JoelandRaenaShearer Fernie, Canada
The English Bay Inn was absolutely wonderful! Definitely a superior experience in our books! Doug is an amazing host and a world class chef! The breakfasts were incredible! We enjoyed a very romantic setting with food that was out of this world. Doug even went out of his way to accommodate our dietary needs (we are vegetarians). The eggs Benedict were delicious and we can’t say enough about the Spanish omelet, freshly baked scones, and the list goes on and on! The French toast was bar none, the very best French toast that we have ever had! Doug and his staff were so polite and helpful during our stay. Doug even went out of his way to serve us our gourmet breakfast early each morning due to our meeting schedules in downtown Vancouver. Our suite was perfect for us as we are a young professional couple who had come to Vancouver on business and we needed a quiet yet convenient place to stay after a busy day downtown. We are also avid cyclists and needed to have a safe place to store our bicycles. The bed was comfortable and our suite was immaculate. The kitchen and dining room were spotless and beautifully reminiscent of the great Victorian era of days gone by. You truly feel at home and as though you are royalty on vacation! By far the best bed and breakfast in all of Vancouver! We highly recommend The English Bay Inn to all our friends and family. We plan to stay at The English Bay Inn whenever we are in Vancouver for business or pleasure. In our book, this is a 5 star bed and breakfast experience superior to any other!

We've been around the world -- and been in many B&B's and Doug has the best French Toast we have Ever had, and let's not get started on the Eggs Benedict! Excellent location within easy walking distance of Stanley Park, and only a little further from Downtown and Granville Island. A delightful escape with beautiful decor, roaring fireplaces, and a very charming host. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
