Amethyst Inn - Victoria

Very satisfying in a very beautiful house with excellent service. Fine detail and very clean. Exquisite breakfast all inclusive in a very excellent setting. No air conditioning in room but not a problem for the time of year of our visit. Would love to return.

Stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon in the Carriage House, next to the main building - very private. Beautiful stained-glass window above the bed. The complementary breakfasts were superb: each started with a tasty fruit cup - fresh fruit and berries, yoghurt, granola, and a sprig of mint; then a still-warm homemade muffin or scone; followed by […] an omelet or eggs benedict, deliciously prepared (eg, the omelet had cheese, sauce, fresh arparagus inside, smoked salmon on top). The staff was very courteous and helpful - made good suggestions for things to do, booked excursions, lent us a blanket to watch the fireworks at the Butchart gardens, etc. The main building is gorgeous and wonderfully restored/maintained. It's a nice B+B. Good breakfast, nice rooms and in a nice neighborhood. But if you are interested in a conversation with the owners, go somewhere else as their English is not very good.

Elegantly restored Victorian with gorgeous rooms in the Victorian style. Our room was beautifully decorated with very comfortable queen bed and period furniture. Full breakfast was excellent and well presented - hosts were gracious and very helpful. Easy 10 minute access to Victoria Inner Harbor via car or bus. The only thing that would have made it better would be a location walkable to the harbor, but that would have been a much higher cost. We were very pleased with our choice - excellent value. We thoroughly enjoyed the spotless room and its full bath that included a hand held shower. The room featured a comfortable king canopy bed and beautiful antique pieces. We also enjoyed the room’s modern amenities such as a 50” flat screen TV, refrigerator, and free WiFi. We especially enjoyed the following: the Victorian character of the house, the […] grand sitting room as a common area, and the free parking within a gated secure area. The Inn’s location was ideal and provided a short 5 minute drive to Victoria’s waterfront area and to our surprise was also a great launch point for a stroll. We took a delightful short walking tour from the Inn through the upscale Regents Park neighborhood and enjoyed viewing the picturesque homes and grounds of the Lt Governor’s mansion as well as visiting the Craigdarroch castle. The Inn served two different and delicious breakfasts. The hosts are a family that provided warm and gracious hospitality, especially their daughter. The hype was true, Amethyst Inn was truly a most satisfying bed and breakfast experience. We had a wonderful stay at the Amethyst Inn. Loved the antique furniture, the detailed woodwork and the building design. The breakfasts were the best we've ever had. We had to leave on an early ferry and they even packed us a breakfast to take with us. I would definitely recommend this B&B.

Very disappointed with the service! My husband and I have enjoyed repeated stays at many beautiful B+B's in downtown Victoria but not here. There was a bit of a language barrier and no warmth and hospitality that B+B's are know for. Very cool reception upon arrival. We were handed a paper to fill out, then up 3 flights of stairs to the attic handed […] keys and left without a word. Later I went down 3 flights of stairs to ask for a bar of soap. The owner had a hard time understanding me. She walked to a closet and handed me a tiny bar of soap and said nothing, just a thank you from me. Our room was small but had a nice jetted tub + no shower facilities + the bed was a bit hard. With only 2 other couples at the Inn, we were all housed on the attic leve when there were 10 other large rooms on lower levels. B+B breakfasts are worth raving about but this not. The fruit + yogurt parfait was good, but the muffins were gummy + stuck to the wrapper. They were serving omelet with asparagus + raw tuna + salmon on top! We requested no raw fish and were offered ham instead. It came with a paper thin slice of ham (lunch meat) placed on top. There was no cheese or flavour and it was overcooked being firm and dry. We packed up and left without a goodbye or thanks from anyone. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! Read more

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this cosy little B&B Inn. For the price we paid, everything exceeded our expectation. The room is spotless and everything from the Wi-FI to the Jacuzzi all work without a hitch. The Innkeeper and her assistant are friendly and very helpful. Some staff had problems understanding some questions. Just small things, ie. { "Could I have a cup of decaffinated coffee please"? Answer .. We don't have any. Question, " You had decaffinated coffee yesterday morning" Answer ... Oh. Ein spannendes und liebevoll eingerichtetes Hotel in britischem Stil. Dieses Hotel verbindet Stil mit Freundlichkeit und ist eine Oase in Victoria. Etwas ausserhalb, jedoch dennoch gut erreichbar zum Zentrum, gelegen. Der Service insbesondere das Frühstück sind sehr zu empfehlen. Wir haben unseren 3tägigen Aufenthalt sehr genossen.
