worst hotel experience so far, as I arrive with my son on a wheelchair, I find they have no elevator, they put me in a room on the 4th floor, since I arrived at over midnight I didn't complain until the morning, when I go to the front desk to ask for a room in a lower level I find myself slipping on a puddle that causes me to hit my head on the handrail, […] went to ask for another room and they still were going to put me on the 3rd level, when I told them about the puddle 3 times and they never cleaned it up, the A/C in the room didn't work, and the shower was very old, ceiling fans old and noisy, they weren't able to connect my calls, and have too many problems and questions when friends & family that were in different hotels went to visit, pick us up and/or help with son in wheelchair, they even had issues with visitors eating in their cafe, they wanted to charge me extra, simply worst experience ever! The $8 I saved for not reserving at Villa del Palmar were unworthy. Read more

This is a friendly Mexican hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff outstandingly helpful and lovely. The pool area and grounds are very nice and are kept up daily. This is not an American style resort so don't book this if you are interested in fancy first class accommodations. This is a taste of Mexico as it should be.

We enjoyed our stay. We thought the flowers and landscaping were beautiful. The pool area was very pretty and quiet. They need to update the bathroom tile in bath tub and area under the refrigerator. The hotel is a quaint facility with a definite Mexican flair. At check-in, everything appeared clean, but the next morning we were visited by a very large cockroach. Twice during our 2-day stay the hot water ran out in the middle of a shower. There were chips in the bathtub tiles. The air conditioner mounting was loose, resulting in a vibratory noise. […] There were also chips in the bottom of the swimming pool and the pool chairs were too few, rusty, and not comfortable. No hair dryer in the bathroom. Bath towels were thin, there were no facecloths, and only one hand towel per room. The location is great in terms of easy bus access to the Malecon and the downtown area. It is also not too far from the airport. The included breakfast was typical Mexican breakfast fare, but you could get a similar breakfast downtown in a nicer setting for less than $5. I would definitely not stay there again. Read more

Hotel was not the best but if you are looking for a decent place to stay, this is it. Very quiet, clean rooms, friendly people. The Hotel is dated (1950's or 1960's era) and the pool could use a remodeling as I cut my foot on a peice of lose tile!
