"Unbearably noisy, outdated, very basic"
There are train tracks going through the backyard! Trains went by pretty frequently. The highway was also very close, but at least that was a steady noise. No soundproofing whatsoever, people walking by sounded like they were inside our room. The room was very basic, hard bed, nice pillows, seemed quite clean considering how outdated it was. The airport shuttle late Friday night took 1 hour & 15 minutes to get us to the hotel, however once we got in the shuttle and the traffic was at a stand still around the airport, I understood the problem. It took 20 minutes just to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3, not the shuttle's fault, just awful traffic. The shuttle in the morning was perfect. This place was horrible! They close the lobby at 10 pm, we got in at 11:30 and were made to stand in a torrential downpour for 45 minutes while they performed a "shift change". Just off a 7 day cruise which was preceded by 14 days in beachfront hotel, returning home. I needed an affordable hotel, with a quick, free, shuttle trip to the airport. This suited me just fine. "I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone!"
Where do I start? The room was supposed to be a non-smoking room. When we arrived it was thick with smoke. We complained and they sent some guy over to supposedly neutralize the smoke odor. All that happened was that they sent someone to spray Febreze from the doorway. It didn't help. The room was filthy. The corners of it had cobwebs hanging from the […] popcorn ceiling. There were pubic hairs in the bathroom and the carpet was disgusting. If all of this were not bad enough, there was very little hot water and every step and mumble was heard all night from the room upstairs. Now add that to a train that passes very close to the hotel and is very loud. This meant that we had very little sleep! The place where they serve breakfast in the morning is a small area that does not accommodate enough people. I now see why this Hotel has a non-refundable rate policy up front. We stayed here 1 night before going on a cruise the next day. We asked if they had airport/hotel transfers and were told yes. I called when we landed and they said someone would be over to pick us up (this was at 11:00 PM). After about 30-40 minutes, I tried to call the hotel. My husband and I were worn out from traveling and frustrated that we had to wait on free transportation. We were contemplating getting a taxi. Booked through Expedia so did not have the right to collect reward points nor to alter the stay or complain to Days Inn directly. Internet was non-existent and when i asked about it I was sent to Help desk located somewhere else in the US. After 20 minutes on the phone, neither my iPad, nor my work related android device could find a signal to lock […] onto. 3 days, no internet which meant McDonald's saw a lot of me. Shuttle service does not start til 6:30 Am which made getting to my 6 Am departure flight a real challenge. $2 dollar a day non-negotiable, non-refundable fee for a safe i did not want to be forced to use and local phone which is useless if you have a cell phone plan anyhow. Train tracks 30 yards away made for an interesting evening/early AM as the train must blow its whistle each time it passes. (every 15 minutes at about 70 Miles per hour) There were signs in my room alluding to a fee for smoking inside it however the stench of cigarettes clearly indicated that someone had either paid the fee and smoked to their hearts content or gotten away with it.Breakfast offerings were accompanied by Spanish soap operas as opposed to news or world happenings and the TV was aimed towards the front desk, not the customers of the hotel itself who had all seated themselves to eat their toast and cereal. A poor way to run a business unless you hope to have a never ending stream of new and unwitting customers flowing through your door. I will to make the same mistake twice. If you want a clean place to sleep and a good bed at a good price, this is a good place to stay. I stayed in a Days Inn in San Diego and liked that one as well. Don't waste your money - I'd have slept better in the airport! This hotel is in pretty bad shape, which isn't too big a deal, but it's obvious they don't maintain the facilities. The doors to our rooms had gaps around them, which allowed every noise into the rooms from outside. When we arrived at the hotel, we had been driving for 20 hours. All I wanted was a shower and some sleep. Unfortunately, they did not have any rooms available for early check in, so we sat in the office/lobby and waited for 4 hours for a room to be available. After we got our showers and were getting ready for sleep, one of the housekeepers walked in on us without knocking. My husband was completely naked. The next morning when we tried to get breakfast, the lobby area was so packed, we had to wait 15 mins just to get into line for breakfast...by then, there was very little to choose from and people were being extremely rude by cutting in front of you. All I needed was a place to simply spend the night. My day activities kept me away from the hotel so all I would be doing was sleep. Sleep was a total failure for me. Lost and found not satisfactory. Accidently left a bag with flash drives with work related information Contacted hotel and the initial indication was that it was located and will be stored until I returned within the week. Returned on Dec 22 and was told by lost and found supervisor that nothing was found and the attitude was not one of concern.
