"Good value for the price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 30, 2012
Very well appointed with many amenities. I felt a bit being "cheap" to charge an extra $5.00 for a code for internet connection. Their offer for free internet service, means a single terminal in the main lobby with internet connection. Long line up, and inconvenience. For a daily $5.00 guest can obtain their personal code to use their own equipment in privacy.Other than that, it was a pleasant stay
"nice room in ideal location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 25, 2012
Our double room was small but we live in NYC so we didn’t feel cramped. The furnishings were clean and comfortable. The roof of the Chateau Frontenac was visible from our window. The location in the heart of the historic district and within walking distance of the newer sections is perfect for tourists. We were very happy here, and I doubt you could do much better for the price. Two cautions: (1) you need to check-in at another hotel across the street and a few doors down, as they will tell you when you ring the bell; and (2) avoid the hotel’s breakfast at a neighboring restaurant--it costs $10 Canadian and consists of powdered eggs and such. There is an excellent brunch spot just down the street from the hotel where you can eat well for not much more--it's on the left side as you walk down Rue St Ursule.

Amazing location, almost every other building on the street was restaurant with any type of ambiance from Italian to Indian and beyond!

we totally enjoyed our stay at hotel l'aristocrat. the place was packed and still was very quiet. the house staff were quiet as mice. it's location is just far enough away from the main tourist sites but still close enough. aquarium is just down the road. excellent restaurant is within walking distance. the desk staff speaks better english than i do and i'm from the states! very nice people. i would definitely stay there again. the price was right also.

"April in....Quebec"
Great little boutique hotel in the heart of old Quebec, across a small park from the Frontenac and a block from stairway to Quartier Petit-Champlain. Rooms on the small side but cozy, incorporating them into the limits of a very old building. Very clean in-room and out. Very helpful, friendly staff to Americans with French that doesn't go much beyond […] "bonjour." Outstanding breakfast--waffles with maple cream sauve are a must. Daily parking was reasonable and only one block away. Read more

"Great Staff"
The hotel itself is situated nicely next the "Chateau". The service was friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. Only complaint is the room was a little on the small side. Breakfast was fast and included.
"Fantastic boutique hotel"
Was my 3rd time in Quebec, my husbands first. We were going to the ice hotel and wanted to make a weekend of the trip. This was the perfect hotel to stay at. Right downtown and walking distanc everywhere. We were in a room on the 3rd floor. Was a great room, bed was super comfortable and fantastic old Quebec decor and feel. Would stay here again any […] time we go back to Quebec. Even the stairs were fine and added to the experience. We missed breakfast and slept in so cannot comment on the restaurant. Read more
"Auberge Place d'Armes in Old Quebec"
This was our first trip to Quebec and we were very pleased with the hotel. The staff was wonderfully helpful, with great recommendations for restaurants, sight-seeing, directions, and general information. The hotel restaurant, Pain Beni, is fabulous. The only downsides were the steep stairs up to our room, and the difficulty in getting to the hotel […] (a major street was closed for construction of an incredible skating ramp). Also, parking is not included and to park in one of the city lots adds $14 per day to the cost. Read more
Auberge Place d'Armes is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is always super helpful and the location cannot be beat. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to visit again soon.
"Auberge Place d'Armes - Outstanding!"
I found this hotel randomly and didn't know what to expect. Let me say, this not only met my expectations, but exceeded them. The location is situated in the premier section of Vieux Quebec (Old Quebec)....close to everything and very safe. Breakfast was exceptional. Staff were very friendly towards my English-speaking self. Room was clean, cozy (not […] large, but very comfortable), updated and modern, yet maintained an old, authentic feel. I have traveled the world and this is one of my favorites...all for a good price. I'm not an owner or employee and have no interest in giving this place a good rating...but it deserves every one of the above praises. A+++ Read more
"Wonderful experience"
Staff was very pleasant and helpful, room very well appointed, yet old Quebec charm. Location was perfect, in the heart of the old city. Will stay there again every time we go to Quebec.
"Absolutely Fantastic..."
I booked this hotel because of the recomendations on line, and after my stay I can honestly say that everyone was right. A wonderful hotel, very friendly people, excellent food and breakfast, nice location and easy parking a block away underground. Great on all accounts!
"Amazing Hotel!"
A simply wonderful hotel! Great service, great rooms, great breakfast!
"Right where we like it."
This was our second time and was equally satisfied. Breakfast was included. Nice people, location and feel. Will go again. The caricature guy is pretty cool just outside the door with his little dog. Pantiera a pastry shoppe past the outside ice rink near the CBC has Awesome pastry and bread. Love the date, orange and sunflower loaf. Parking garage […] is just a short walk and all we do is walk everywhere. Beautiful place to find your romance again. Read more
"Quaint hotel in a wonderful location"
We enjoyed our stay at Auberge Place D'Armes. While the room was small, the location made up for this. I was also glad I'd booked a room on their first floor which was up only one flight of stairs. The staff at the desk as you walked in were very helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the full breakfast included in the price of the room at the restaurant […] in the hotel. Read more
"Auberge Place d'Armes in Quebec City, Canada"
Fantastic Location- Can easily walk to places of interest in old Quebec. Great hotel with personality.
Great location - on a quiet square across from the Frontenac. Rooms are quaint but very comfortable. The personnel are friendly and very helpful. The breakfasts are wonderful. We will stay there again.
"Auberge Place d'Armes - chic vieux"
This a newly renovated hotel with chic décor and an excellent restaurant converted from two old houses in the heart of old Québec. Friendly staff. Excellent value.
"Elegance, charm, location!"
Elegant comfortable room with old world charm, architectural features like exposed brick, and ultra-modern shower. Wonderful breakfasts and helpful professional staff.
"Auberge Place D'Arms - in the mddle of the old cit"
We had a lovely stay in Quebec City - whilst the room was small, it was very clean and comfy with an opening window that looked out onto the cobbled street below. The hotel is right in the middle of the old part of Quebec City - we did a lot of walking without feeling as if coming back for a rest was a waste of time.

"Great stay"
My wife & I spent 2 glorious nights. Location was beyond excellent. Service, food all top notch!
Great hotel and location and staff was very helpful. Breakfast menu was excellent. Would return to this hotel again.
"Loft"
I thought we were getting a room with a seperate loft but instead we got a loft room which was not what we expected.
"Place d'Armes Quebec City Center of it all!!!"
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The complimentary breakfasts were very good and saved us alot of money. Rooms were spotless although ours at the end of hall #12 was extremely small and very tight (no view). No counter in bathroom for my makeup or anything for that matter. The hotel was wonderfully located however. Right in the middle of everything […] so we would stay again just not room #12. All the help were very nice and very accommodating too. Read more

"Great Hotel, Perfect Sport (even in bad weather)"
My fiancee and I having been wanting to go to Quebec for several years, and finally made the journey. Hoping to find a hotel just as special and full of history as the city, we hit the right on the head with the Auberge Place D'Armes. It's in an awesome renovated building with every modern amenity, and the staff was always friendly and helpful with […] recommendations or directions. Although Old Town is tiny, we found this location to be great, within 4 blocks of most restaurants, and 800 feet from the steps to Lower Town. The free breakfast was delicious, too, although with just a few options you may want to try somewhere else if you're staying longer than 2 or 3 days. Free wireless made planning our days extremely simple, too, and while there's no on-site parking, it was $30 for three days only 2 blocks away. Plenty of other hotels looked nice, and the rooms are probably smaller here compared to the newer hotels in Lower Town, we loved our stay here, and would definitely come back. Read more
"Absolutely Perfect"
The location, service, and rooms were all perfect.... you can't get a better place to stay than this. We had a great stay and would happily return. One word of caution: the stairs are steep and hallways narrow. I didn't see an elevator, which given the age of the building is common. If you have physical mobility issues, you may want to speak in greater […] detail with the front desk before booking to see if they can accommodate you. Read more
"EXCELLENT IN ALL CATEGORIES - STAY HERE!"
Please see my review from the prior day, which initially was a one night stay, which I also offer some helpful info to first time stayers. Do to the exceptional service, accommodations, location, quality of food, and everything else I can think of, I extended our stay an additional day here, which the hotel was very kind enough to upgrade my guest and […] I to another room. The only additional thing I can offer is that I will be back here and recommend that anyone stay here as well. Read more
"Small Hotel with 5 Stars for Every Catergory Plus"
Hotels.com notified this property that we would be arriving after midnight at a time when front desk is closed, however the hotel accommodated our late arrival with ease and efficiency. Calling the afterhours phone number posted on the locked inner front door, a staff member Yevet (sp) not only answered it quickly and knew of our stay but she assisted […] us with getting our luggage in, watched our vehicle, helped with parking, and provided us with very helpful info that made our next day simply wonderful all with a smile and kind / funny personality that we appreciated. The hotel room itself was unbelievable and very romantic with very modern and comforting fixtures. It is hard to get excited about a shower, however the combo top rainfall shower head and water wand is something you will enjoy, both which can be used independently and together – wait till you use it! A limited but full breakfast menu IS included with hotel stays here. Lunch and dinner are also served for a reasonable fee, which we also enjoyed as did not only other hotel guests, but locals as well, it is a popular place to eat in town. The hotel location is perfect with quick and easy access to everything within the old fort, I highly recommend anyone to stay here, you will not regret your choice, we extended our stay here an extra night because of everything we encountered. Helpful info to other first arrivals, the entrance to the hotel appears to be on a pedestrian alley, however cars are allowed and often do drive up on it. The hotel does not have their own parking lot / garage; however use the unattended underground parking lot at city hall just up the block from hotel that takes credit cards. If you are leaving your vehicle in the garage for the day, as we did, purchase from the hotel a discounted prepaid entrance card to save some money BEFORE entering the garage. Go to the Quebec tourist info center office located just a minute walk from hotel before venturing out into the area, they can and w Read more
"Pleasant but with some deficiencies"
Stayed in March, when temps were in the high 20's (F). The room was so hot, it was unbearable, and the windows did not open to provide relief. The internet connection worked one day, then was unworkable for the next two days. Breakfast was pleasant enough, with a good selection of options. No elevator, so potential guests should be aware that they'll […] need to lug heavy bags up multiple flights of stairs. All in all, a lovely hotel, perfectly situated in Old Town. Read more
"Auberge Place d'Armes , Quebec City"
This hotel was excellent, the staff at the front desk were great and made you feel at home. I would stay there again any day!
"Wonderful!"
The Auberge Place d'Armes in Quebec City - the perfect location, perfect romantic setting, Perfect staff, perfect bed, with the perfect restaurant downstairs. We can't imagine a better place to stay in Quebec City...bar none!
"Auberge Place d'Armes"
This location is ideal and central to all sites. It is across from the Chateau Frontenac and could walk the whole city. Would stay again for the location, the breakfast of choice, internet, and cleanliness.
"Auberge Place d'Armes old Quebec"
Charming Hotel located in the heart of old Quebec. Will definitely return.
This nis a lovely quaint hotel in the middle of everything to do in Quebec. The resturant is as good as any in the area and would highly reccommend. The only downfall is parking. Plan to ask the front desk what to do about parking before your arrival.
"delightful boutique hotel"
The location couldn't be better. The staff was wonderful, our room clean, comfortable and such stylish decor. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast (complimentary). The hard part was choosing the meal. We loved everything about this hotel. Our stay at this auberge was followed by 2 nights at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac. We missed the Auberge […] Place d'Armes the entire time. We will definitely be our returning to this lovely little hotel on our next visit. Highly recommended! Read more
"Pick a different hotel if you can"
The air con wasn't working in our room. Because our suite was facing the street, it was so noisy! They didn't inform you that there is only STAIRS to get to the rooms. It was horrible stay if you want to travel with infants. Breakfast wasn't great either. So over priced. The only thing that was a plus is the location BUT there is also a lot of hotels […] around there. The front desk person was horrible and unhelpful Read more
"Pleasant Surprise"
Great little hotel - charming rooms, very pleasant and helpful staff, great full breakfast, all at a very reasonable price. Also great location, across park from Chateau Frontenac and the funicular to the lower city. Warning - no elevator yet (coming in 2011), so upper floors may be a stretch for older visitors.
"Nice small hotel"
The roooms are small but tidy, large enough for people who like to be outside all day. Large bedside lamps unnecessarily take a lot of room. There is no elevator. Well located, nice and quiet.
"Great location, great people"
Stayed for 3 nights in attic room (31). Nice decor, renovated bathroom. People working in hotel and restaurant were exceptionally helpful, courteous, and friendly. Computer available for internet access, along with ice/water machine. Make sure you can handle a lot of stairs, esp. if your room is in the attic (it's really on 4th floor and steps are rather […] steep). We enjoyed the exercise but not for the elderly or faint of heart. Also, hubby did not like the claw foot tub with the showerhead - just not enough room to move around. Form over function in our cute bathroom. The hotel should consider putting in a bar or something to hold onto (difficult to get out of) & a shelf or something for soap & shampoo. (I think our bathroom may have been the only one with the clawfoot tub scenario. Most have nice, modern showers, from what I could see.) Location could not have been better. We were able to drop by the room throughout the day - very nice! Also, loved the breakfast & restaurant for dinner. Great for couples. Read more
"Wonderful Location and service"
Truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was within walking distance of all the sites and the breakfast was terrific. While the room was small it had everything and was spotless. I would recommend it.
"Auberge Place d'Armes - good value"
Hotel has great location (across the square from Hotel Frontenac), nice size rooms, and modern well-functioning bathrooms. Full breakfast is included, which is a nice touch. Important to know that there are few other amenities (no spa, no lounge, etc).
"A Little Gem"
This small hotel is centrally located, and beautifully designed. The rooms are particularly attractive. In the restaurant the food is probably the best in Quebec city, with original and delicious menus.
"GREAT LOCATION"
This Hotel was a great place for the price and location. The staff were the friendliest ever. The room was very clean and a full breakfast came with each nights stay. The location was great and we could walk to everything. The restaurant in the Hotel was also great. I would highly recommend this Hotel. Just make sure to ask for the largest room.

"Great location"
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was pleasant but a bit cramped for 3 people. Our son slept in a "murphy" style pull-down bed. When it was down it was difficult to walk around. The location was great except for dropping off or picking up luggage. The breakfast was nice, not exceptional. We had an evening meal at their restaurant, […] which was good until the 40 minute wait for a less than exciting dessert. All in all, a pleasant stay. Read more

"Great location"
Amazing location, very dog friendly and great staff.
"Right in the centre of old Quebec city"
As it is to be expected in a historic building, the standard rooms are very small, the bathroom is tiny. All is very clean and the staff are very friendly. There was full breakfast included in our rate; it is served 'à la carte' and includes hot items. The free Wi-Fi works very well also in the rooms.
great price great location very good staff
