Stay was almost perfect, marred only by poor service at breakfast the one day I tried it. I stood at the entrance next to the "please wait to be seated" sign for more than 5 minutes at 10:30 a.m. on a Sunday before a staffer from outside the dining room returned and seated me, at which point I waited quite a while for the only waitstaff to greet me, […] and then waited again quite a long time for a plate of pancakes. That incident aside, everything else was efficient. Room was one of the cleanest I've ever seen with the exception that the shower curtain needed to be washed. I only wish there was a way that the air conditioning could kick on without sounding like someone was entering the room each time! I had never been to St. Louis so my sister and I went for a girls weekend. I wanted to be as close to the arch/river as possible. If you've never been downtown this Hilton and the Hilton Ball park are an easy 4 blocks apart. We actually walked over and ate at the 360 in the other Hilton. "In the middle of a tornado"
We arrived on Friday in the middle of a tornado traveling down I-70. Needless to say, our nerves were frayed when we checked in. The staff was great and very prompt. The next morning, we were looking for a breakfast place but were told by the front desk that all restaurants were closed for breakfast on the weekends. We decided to eat breakfast in the […] hotel. After waiting 5 minutes to be seated, the hostess noticed us. She pointed at us, then the table for us to sit at. Charming exchange with no words spoken. 5 minutes later our server greeted us and we ordered coffee. This was of course delivered to us with no sugar or creamer, even though we had requested. When we finally received the creamer, we had only our fingers to mix up our coffee. We decided to go ahead and grab our food off of the buffet. Once seated with our plates and naked coffee, we still didn't have any utensils. A few minutes later the restaurant manager walked by and after we flagged her down, we were graced with a napkin, fork and spoon. The food was mediocre with the oatmeal cold and soupy. At this point we were content to sit back, drink our coffee stirred with our knife and watch management buzz around from table to table comping meals because of the horrible experience. The hotel was ok. Somehow, we got stuck on the noisiest floor with people and children running the halls until 12:30am. We also were placed in the smallest room available that had a window right across to the vending area near the elevators which sucked. The staff was friendly enough, however, when I got my car back from the Valet, there was a huge scratch and dent in the rear passenger door!!!! GPS doesn't work well downtown, hot tub in room was out of order, parking deck was cramped and $20/day. Also deck closed gates at 10pm Sunday night so we had to park on the street around the corner.
