"Amazing Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Na Balam got some underserved poor scores. The location happened to be the best location on the island (as far as beaches go), and fairly convenient to excitement of down town. The grounds were spectacular, and for such a reasonable price. Front desk and beach bar staff were not amazing, but not bad either. They could do some training on customer service in order to make it a more magical experience, but all in all, it was acceptable service.
"great deal for your money"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Fantastic deal for your money. The confirmation from hotels.com said that our room had ocean, pool and garden view.... it didn't. The view was just trees. We had booked a king size bed but got 2 queens instead so that was disappointing but over all a great place. Men need to bring long pants if you're planning on eating in the a'la cart restaurants. The buffets are great, a'la cart is ok.

I loved the hotel and the service is wonderful, however I was really disappointed in the beach. We had to travel to another Palace resort to swim in the ocean and take pictures. But that is my only complaint.

The Cancun Hotel Zone rests on a slit of land bound by a lagoon and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Sunseekers crowd the white-sand beaches. At night, the action moves to the restaurants, clubs, and bars that line Boulevard Kukulcán, the area’s main artery. This road passes by the El Rey ruins, believed to be a king’s tomb.

The hotel is very beautiful and well kept... The view of the beach from the hotel is breathtaking... The only suggestion I have is that the Spa should be located on the hotel premises instead of on one of the other hotel chain premises... Definately would return as it was an excellent experience...

"Nice Hotel but Their Guest Policy Needs Work..."
My girlfriend and I came back late at night from a club in Cancun and they wouldn't let her into the room because I didn't put her name on the reservation. When I checked in, they didn't ask me if there was anyone else staying in the room and it didn't occur to me to mention it because I did not know it would be an issue. She was able to come with me […] to the room in the afternoon no problem; that night we ended up having to sneak her in and clear it up with management the next day. Could have been a big mess. "Pleasantly surprised"
This hotel has certainly exceeded expectations. I had read good reviews about it but it turned out to be excellent. First of all, it was clean, not only my room but all the premises, including the beach strip adjacent to the hotel. Service at the desk was fast, courteous and professional, and the restaurant at the 'palapa' was very decent (the pricier […] "El Conquistador" wasn't as good value though). I called the reception twice, once to have the TV remote replaced and the other to request an iron, and both calls were dealt with within minutes. The travel agency that runs their shuttle service and numerous tours, was also pretty good and helpful. Wi-Fi was free but a little difficult to reach at peak times, like between 5-7pm. Breakfast is not included but there is a convenience store where you can get your breakfast supplies, combined with the fact that there's a microwave in the room. So that wasn't a problem for me. You get assigned a personal concierge who will help you get acquainted with Cancun and surroundings, will give you discounts for affiliated restaurants and facilities, and will also try you to get to buy some of their timeshares (but they are not too pushy and you can avoid that without problems.) Even the day I left, they make it easy for me to hit the beach for a few hours before my afternoon flight, and offered me to use the shower at the pool (after checkout). Overall a very good experience, and definitely will consider coming back. Read more
"Royal Mayan"
Great Resort, Great Staff..A great place to stay.
"Nice Resort"
We stayed in a two bedroom suite. Tons of room in nicely maintained room(s) and could have easily slept two more on murphy beds in living room. Well appointed kitchen. Nice pools and beach. Super convenient amenities including well stocked small "grocery store" on site together with any sports equipment available from golf clubs to scuba, tennis etc...Significant […] wave action so young kids and poor swimmers need to be careful in ocean (same for any hotel on this strip). We like "authentic Mexican cuisine" and it simply is not available on the Cancun strip...unless you consider Senor Frogs authentic Mexican. You must have a car or take an expensive taxi ride into Cancun City to get to non-resort style restaurants. We would definitely stay here again if going to Cancun. Read more
"Royal Mayan on the beach at Cancun"
Lots of pros. Great location. Clean, spacious room. Friendly staff. Few cons. Limited access to internet. Store and travel desk close too early. Front desk couldn't tell us how much our credit card would be charged. Shuttle to airport unreasonably expensive.
"The Royal Myan"
We enjoyed our stay and also enjoyed the sister resorts, - all, clean, run efficiently, friendly service and helpful. Food was excellent - served quickly and hot. We would definetly stay there again. We can't say enough about it.
"Nice Place"
This was a pretty nice hotel. We only stayed on night there on a layover. It was neet that you charge every with your room key and settle when you check out. So you did not have to worry about carrying money with you. I would stay there again.

"Oasis by the Sea!"
My last stay at The Royal Mayan was a very pleasant one. Altough it was "SpringBreak Mania", the RM was tranquil and the best place to be! Service from most employees was polite and friendly. The restaurants provided a nice variety of dishes , service was prompt and courteous. Located right by the Caribbean Ocean is a big plus! But the best is to be […] away from the crowd: at the Northern tip of the Hotel zone. The room was somehow smaller than the one at the Royal Caribbean and the only downside was the air-con being loud even at low speed . The Royal Resorts in this location are older but I'll still recommend it! Read more

"Hotel Royal Maya"
Read more
