"Needs a bit of sprucing up"
Hotel appeared beautiful upon arrival, however the rug in the suite had stains. I found fecal matter on the side of the toilet, bathrooms are really outdated and no air conditioning in the main part of the hotel. The weekend we stayed was 90 degrees- A/C would have been nice. Service in the dining room and tavern was horrible. Breakfast buffet had empty […] chafing dishes and the sterno must have been out for an hour as the food that was left was cold. Dinner at the tavern we were told that the kitchen was extremely backed up and that they couldnt take our food order for a 45 min to an hour. The hotel was booked- and it felt as if only 2 servers were on staff. Location is beautiful, overlooking the mountains and lake- hotel itself needs some updating and reconsideration of their dining service. People are on vacation- they dont want to wait for service or a cocktail. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good time had by all."
My family and I had a great time there. My 93 year old mother in law was kept busy drawing the fabulous views and the two 13 year olds loved the pools and games. It was great having a kitchen. Neighbors were a bit noisy, but that can't be helped. Maybe we were too. We will be going back if we can get the same rates.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stressful... Didnt have room ready for us at check-in time. Then let us in the room to put our things in there. Housekeeper(Male) came out of the bathroom an stated( I would'nt go in there anytime soon) Totally freaked my 7 year old grandson out for the night. Then Housekeeping took out bathing suits, Kids Mask & Swimming flotations by mistake. They […] found them the next day. Very aweful experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Was attending a 4:00 wedding. We were told nonapologetically that we would not be able to get an early check in because they were so busy . We were offered to use the humid pool area to change. One would think that they would have prepared for that in advance and be able to accommodate the wedding guests by at least 3:00. We dressed in the bathroom […] in the pool house. I was very satisfied with this resort. The one bedroom unit we stayed in contained all the amenities we needed for our stay. We were very satisfied with the indoor pool, spa, and fitness room. We were impressed that we were offered a day use pass to use any of the resort pools on the day we checked out!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great all-around resort"
Hilltop location provided a secluded setting with spectacular lake views. Took advantage of splendid indoor pool and relaxing outdoor pool with pool bar. Played tennis and golf on resort facilities. Short drive to lake attractions. Maid service was a little spotty, but the facilities are in good shape. Seems like it was a choice for extended families […] and friends. We had a nice week at Steele Hill and would recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Adults and Kids Loved it!"
The pool kept the kids busy for hours. Lots of fun for adults as well. Wish it was a little cheaper, but I can't wait to go back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The resort was a little dated but it was really clean. The service in the restaurant was really slow and the west two bedroom unit we had smelled like soot. I think the fire place needed to be cleaned. The unit was really clean and neat. I like the resort and I would come back. The office people were friendly and helpful. The pool was fantastic. "Steele Hill Resort"
The most wonderful place for a celebration. The family gathered there from several states to celebrate my grandaughters graduation from nursing school. The ceremony was cancelled because of a snow storm. We were so happy to have 2 nights at Steele Hill. Everyone enjoyed the hot tubs, tried out all the indoor pools, played pingpong, computer games and […] ate in the restruants. The family age range is 66-7. there was something for everyone. The food was great, the staff very helpful and pleasant and at all times accomodating. Hotels.com gave us a price even the resort, directly couldn't Thank you so much for the wonderful memory for my granddaughter and the rest of us. What a wonderful place for a family reunion. I will start with the good stuff first. 1. The Hilltop Restaurant Staff was amazing and so was the food, just a little too pricey I felt. Both of our servers and the hostess were top notch. Thank you for brightening our visit. 2. The pools indoors and out were very nice, loved them. 3. The scenery is beautiful. 4. Ashley at the front desk was very helpful as well. The Bad. 1. This place is overpriced and run down. It's worth no more than $99 - $129 a night. The panels on the side of the Jacuzzi in our room were laying on the floor because the duct tape was so worn. The bad just about sank to the ground when I sat on it. I noticed a lot od the doors to the rooms and inside the rooms were splintered or peeling. The handrails and the decks were very weathered and worn. DO NOT LEAN on the deck railings, very loose!!! There was pubic hair in the bathroom. The two way mirror in the shower looking out into the unit was greasy and smeared with hand prints. We struggled with the keys to our room. There are no signs telling you where to go, especially the South buildings. You can't tell where to go in and where to go once your in. The restaurant has no sign outside. We stood outside waiting for dinner because of a wedding party. There was no direction where to go. Very frustrating. The Oasis Bar is not open on Sunday during Football, are you serious??? It was also closed Saturday night when we went to the pool after dinner. And you can't bring your own alcohol. This place was overpriced and looks like it's on it's way out. The wedding business is the only thing saving them. I would give this place 1 star if it weren't for the 4 good reasons! Glad I didn't pay for 2 nights! Ellis Hynson 9/6/14 - 9/7/14

Went up to N.H. for the first time and was told it was a real good place to stay. Not convenient to anywhere, had to drive 20 min to get breakfast(other than pancake which was 10 and took us 2hrs to get our food and eat. Had never stayed at a resort where they didn't have some kind of breakfast. Went to have a drink after dinner, they told me it was last call.(It was 8:45). If you want to get a lot of sleep it's your kind of place. I like to relax but this was ridiculous. The golf course was a joke and we didn't see any activities. Stay away.

I stayed here with a friend early in the summer. The location is beautiful- fabulous views and nicely kept grounds. The Sunday brunch is very nice. We stayed in a suite in one of the older parts of the facility, but the amenities were quite up to date and very clean and pleasant. Great balcony overlooking incredible view. It felt very private. ( I disagree with the reviews saying that the new buildings are quieter. I stayed in the new section a few years ago and found it noisier- perhaps it just depends on your neighbors, but I thought that the new construction had noisy stairs and hallways)
"Great last minute vaca get away"

Very nice stay. Place was clean and everyone was friendly. The main outdoor pool was very nice and the view was wonderful. The main indoor pool was perfect for my 7 year old son. Careful on the slide though it hurts going down. Whips you around.

I ate lunch here years ago and I know people who have stayed here or had their wedding here, so we decided to do a last minute quick one night get-a-way and were glad we did. We called to see what kind of deals were available and liked what we heard. The property is located on top of a hill about 5 miles from the town that is a vacation area. The view were breath taking, over looking lakes and mountains. There are many building for the guest rooms, two outdoor and two indoor pools, a 9 hole golf course, great playgrounds for children and families. The newest pool and club house is beautiful. There is a large pool with water slide, baby 2' pool with a water slide. The pool was very clean as was the locker room. This pool was in a building with a glass wall over looking the mountains. Lovely. The room we stayed in did not have a great view but for the price, no complaints. We could have up graded to a suit with mountain views but didn't want to pay. So we sat outside on the grass and had the views for free. The room was spotless, and I checked. The bed was a king with almost new mattress--great for sleeping. There was a small refrig and microwave that was handy. The Jacuzzi in the room was a nice feature, slide over the curtains and sit looking at the stars at night or the TV. Dinner came with the room deal. The restaurant overlooked the mountains that made dinner very romantic. We went early and got a seat at the window. Beautiful views. Prices typical. The menu was typical and had something for everyone. My husband truly enjoyed the steak tips and remarked a few times how good they were. I had chicken parm which was quite good. I did have to ask for more sauce but that was no problem. There was plenty of food so I had a doggie bag to enjoy the rest later. We ordered a side salad which was extra and well worth it. The wait staff was well trained, friendly, and catered to our requests. The rest of the resort staff were very friendly too. There is a 9 hole golf course. I can't comment on it because I don't golf. Once you get there, plan to stay because the town is far but they have a nice buffet breakfast on Sunday and I think the other days too. My husband and I usually don't go back to the same place but we plan to return to Steele Hill for another over night get-away. We travel a lot and really enjoyed this place.
"Lovely location and views, however average hotel."
We stayed for 3 nights last August, lovely views and great location if you want peace and quiet. Ensure you get rooms in the new part as we were situated in the old building which was quite dated. Decent facilities with nice outdoor and indoor pools.
"Great value for a family getaway"
08/28/14 Chris S Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
First, the setting of this resort is beautiful. What a vista to the NH Lakes Region. My family stayed in the lodge inn (older building), but it was great. The room was clean and we had a full suite with kitchen. The kitchen had everything we needed, including dish soap and a fresh sponge for cleaning dishes. The building is old, but in good shape. The pools are the best part of the resort. Three pools (one indoor) at the lodge and then a indoor water park at the newer hotel. The water park had two pools, a big slide, and the biggest jacuzzi that I have ever soaked in. The golf course is a bit shabby with a bad layout. Great for practice, except the greens are very slow. Only par 3s and par 4s, so no need to bring your woods. The staff is very professional and friendly. Just ask if you need anything. The restaurant and tavern are nice. The food was a bit pricy, but the menu is extensive and the food good. A lot of prior reviews of this place don't do it justice. It's easy to get to by car. The roads are in good shape. Overall, this place is a great value. You could spend 4 days here without thinking. The place has a lot of character which is really lost on a lot of newer hotels and resorts that all feel the same.

My husband and I had our monthly date night here. We had a newly built room with a hot tub. The bed was comfortable and the pillows we wonderful. The room needed a trash can but it was other wise very clean and we'll priced. The view was beautiful and the pools were fun. Loved the little water slide and the Roman hot tub. The nature walks were fun. Wish there was a side walk to get up to the big pool, and breakfast during the week. But it was lovely and the staff were very nice.
"Awesome, just don't try to get there with your GPS"
08/16/14 Rebeccanne20 Portland, Maine
Do NOT try to get here using your GPS.Call the place for directions. GPS takes you to some ungodly dirt washed out roads~almost ruined our car ...finally found the place by luck, and the guy at the desk said ..Oh ya, that happens to a lot of people. PLEASE don't let it happen to you. The place is totally awesome but it sure started out stressful! CALL for directions!

So many disappointments. We had a second story room with no rooms above us --however we were unable to sleep throughout the first evening as it sounded like furniture was being moved until 2 am. When it started the second night we called to be told initially there were no rooms being rented above us but several foreign exchange students were utilizing the space. They moved less furniture the second night. The pull out bed was so dirty we left it as a couch and covered as best we could. 2 different members of the staff could not tell me where the activity room or laundry was located. Restaurant costs were substantial for quality and quantity. Door to patio and bathroom stuck so badly that we had great difficulty closing either. Despite having 4 days paid we left at 3--the use of "resort" is an exaggertion.
