"Beautiful high end experience!"
The house is absolutely beautiful! The host is gracious and quite helpful but at the level that allows you to enjoy the romantic weekend. Breakfast in the room is amazing and still private. Truly a gourmet meal, elegant and well made.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great downtown Victoria location"
Good service, very good breakfast, very quiet, all as advertised. Several very nice tourist areas easily within walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely B&B in great location close to City centre. The owners were very helpful but also cultivated your privacy. Breakfasts were amazing and delivered to your room in a basket. Crepes and eggs benedict were superb. On arrival my husband & I were shown our room. On the table were 2 glasses each with a home made truffle. A bottle of sparkling wine was […] waiting in the room size refrig. A CD/mp3 player complete with relaxing CDs added to the rooms ambiance. Too warm to use the fireplace in the room, but nice option Easy walking to the harbor, Parliament, shopping and restaurants. Weather was glorious sunny spring. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We were traveling by bicycle. The Humbolt House was 4min to the Ferry! Cute room, very cozy, with a great mattress! (Edward's Room.) Good breakfast, cleverly served in room. Quiet.Genuine Expedia guest review

Really liked the private breakfast served thru a port into your room. Didn't have to get dressed for breakfast that way.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Good but not quite what we wanted"
This B&B is in very good condition, wall paper and paint all fresh and spiffy. The host was most pleasant and the food was terrific. The real fire place with the lovely Xmas decor on the mantle was charming. Because it was our anniversary we were looking for something exceptional and were willing to pay for it. But alas this didn't quite turn out as […] we had hoped.Having read other reviews we knew in advance that one downfall was that there was no dining room for breakfast and that all breaksfasts came to the room. They were delectable but one reason we like B&B's is the chance to meet other visitors. This is near impossible there. Also the room was very dark in the winter, and although a lovely tub, no shower. And the tub had no privacy - maybe a screen available would help. With the dark lampshades it was impossible to read in bed. I think we just picked a poor room for our needs. It was just not my idea of a B&B from a co-mingling or even chatting with the propriator goes. But good if you want to be left alone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Khalid on humboldt house"
Very great but the one thing that needs a upgrade was the tv. The tv in the room was far to small to watch hockey other then that everything was awesome.Great facility and staff will go back anytimeGenuine Expedia guest review
I absolutely enjoyed my room and all the extras ( double soaker tub, wood burning fireplace and cozy bedding. On top of it all the fresh homemade bread with breakfast in the morning! The only one thing that I didn't like was the squeaky floor near the sink. But remember you are in a beautiful character style home. A wonderful place to stay in the heart […] of Victoria!! :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Character and more"
From the wood burning fireplace and champagne to the most amazing breakfast basket, this was more than we had hoped for. Sit in the Jacuzzi tub, sip on champagne, nibble on truffles and watch a roaring fire...all this and more at the Humboldt Hotel! Can't wait to return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Romantic anniversary getaway!"
The Celebration Room at the Humbolt House Bed and Breakfast was so elegant and romantic it took a while to soak it all in. From the lace curtains framing the top of the bed, the double jacuzzi, the wood burning fireplace, to breakfast being served in a basket through a little portal in the wall, my husband and I were delighted. Not only would I recommend […] this to family and friends, we're booking again soon for our next anniversary. Don't miss this romantic getaway, right in the heart of Victoria. "Great place close to everything"
Great place. Rooms are large, and very well maintained. Old European still furniture. Service was good. Didn't have breakfast, which was included., due to my own schedule, but I trust it would have been great. Close enough to walk to all downtown venues. Well worth the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Relaxing & Romantic"
Perfect place for a quiet, romantic getaway with beautiful jacuzzi & out of this world breakfasts! Close enough to downtown to be in the action if you want it, the peace & quiet & beauty of Humboldt house is good for your soul!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for a romantic getaway"
Very romantic B&B with so many special surprises. It is just steps from downtown Victoria which is handy.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a lovely stay at this B&B, staff was very accomodating and friendly, the gazebo room was airy with a comfortable queen size bed and a large two-person jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace as well. It would be an especially nice place to go for a romantic getaway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Genuine Expedia guest review
"Immaculate, luxurious Victorian B&B"
08/25/14 LavanRose San Jose, California
The Humboldt House is a beautifully restored, well-maintained Victorian decorated with antiques and period furnishings. It's in a very quiet location a few blocks from downtown and Beacon Hill Park. A delicious gourmet breakfast is delivered privately to each room, with a choice of three or four menu items and at your choice of time (within a window of an hour and a half or so). A small parlor at the front of the house is available with sherry and cookies, books and tourism information. My husband and I stayed in the "Celebration Room" at the back of the house. It is decorated in romantic, frilly pastel colors and has a jacuzzi tub in the room. It was spacious, very quiet and private. Currently the building is for sale so the business may be under new management. I hope the new owners keep things as they are because it is just about perfect.

Firstly, I was saddened to see a 'For Sale' sign out front. Hosts were lovely, gave us ideas on restaurants, and the truffles we ordered were the best we have ever eaten. Breakfasts were huge and perfect, as was our room. We stayed in the Edward Room at the front upstairs of the inn. Street noise was not a problem at all and the views were great. You cannot beat the location. Room was very clean and well appointed. Loved it.

My husband and I stayed at Humboldt for two nights during our travels around BC. I cannot praise this place enough. Really friendly hosts and I loved the quirky features - for example the port and biscuits in the sitting/reception room (delicious by the way). The room was lovely and absolutely spotless. The huge Jacuzzi bath and welcoming mini bottle of fizz with two truffles were a real treat (we had the celebration room). Don't leave without buying some 'terrible truffles'. They certainly made us terrible - we bought some as gifts, but demolished the lot soon after purchase! Highly recommend this place.
"Very very cozy"

We stayed in the Mikado room, but next time I think we will go Windsorian. The entire experience was exceptional. Sherry and delicious homemade baking in the front parlour for socializing with other guests if you so choose. Local phone calls can be made here and there are directories of Victoria amenities if you need them. Our room was meticulously and beautifully decorated in the Japanese motif, the jacuzzi is so much larger than it looks in the photos and there is a Japanese wall slide panel over the window allowing for opening so the hot air can be released, or closed for added privacy. There is even an in-suite fireplace for winter visits and rainy nights. The breakfast menu was absolutely delicious and felt like a private indoor picnic. They thought of everything and somehow managed to make it all fit into the picnic basket. It was then delivered through a small cubby at the time of our choosing so that you can enjoy it privately with your partner, and not have to dress for other guests. There is a tiny bar fridge to chill your white wine and truffles for storage for later, towels and bathrobes were provided, so you don't have to pack those, and if you book the Windsor suite, there is a small deck off the hall on same level so you can have your coffee outdoors in the sunshine. You arrive to the welcome of sparking wine and truffles made by a chocolatier, it's heavenly! About 3 blocks walk from the seaplane inner harbour, away from all the noise on the waterfront strip, yet close enough to walk to all the action. Great hosts. reasonably priced and a great spot. See you again next year, I hope.
"Classic Victorian Bed and Breakfast"
08/05/14 adventurous1Tampa_FL Tampa, FL
We were greeted by an employee who pleasantly told us about the house and showed us to the Floral Suite. The overall experience at this bed and breakfast as great thought we only were able to stay for two nights. The hot breakfast delivered to our suite the first morning was outstanding. We both ordered different crepes which came with fruits and tea. The second morning we had to leave before breakfast was served so the staff stocked our refrigerator the day before with the continental breakfast. The suite was pleasant with a newly remodeled bathroom. The house is located within walking distance of downtown Victoria and the harbor.
"Very close to town"
07/27/14 Lizzed Puerto Vallarta
Humboldt House is walking distance to almost everything downtown Victoria. Its a small Bed and Breakfast in a Historic building. We staying in the Celebration room, on arrival we were greeted at the door by a very friendly employee who gave us all the information we needed for our stay. In our room was a small bottle of champagne, fresh flowers and a fire place ready to burn if needed. The only draw back in this room for us was the bathroom or lack of, a large bathtub is in the bedroom and so is the sink. The toilet is in a small closet like room that has a glass brick wall that allows you to see someone in the tub while in the water closet ..hmmm. Long story short we missed having bathroom privacy and a shower. Breakfast was amazing both mornings, delivered to our room on time and cooked to perfection. I would return, just another room.
"A Little Gem"

As promised truffles and bubbles on arrival. I thought that would be the icing on the cake for my girlfriends 30th bday getaway but the best was yet to come. The breakfast served through the hatch into our private quarters that resembled a room from a james bond movie might just have clinched it. We selected the breakfast from the menu the night before and had debated the logistics. Clearly David and co have done this all before, pristinely presented in a wicker picnic basket we excitedly laid our breakfast out item by item like excited and hungry children on Christmas morning....I'm still stunned that the eggs were perfectly cooked. The best start to a birthday ever. Humboltd house is conveniently placed and yet somehow quiet .We managed to take advantage of the nearby park to laze in the sun and then potter into town for the usual touristy stuff. If we were out in town for the afternoon or evening we always felt we could return to the solace of this b and b whenever we grew weary. Perfect b&b experience. Also the flowers were all freshly cut and David makes his own truffles. Thanks David and co.
"White Heather Cottage"

We rented the cottage (this is not on the same property as the Humboldt House). Thoroughly enjoyed it. David, the innkeeper, was wonderful to us. It is a three bedroom, but one room is only suitable for a single person. Washer, dryer, fireplace, kitchen, etc. a lovely little property.
"Practically Perfect B&B"

Sometimes you luck out with your B&B, and we sure did with the Humboldt House in Victoria, BC. First, the location is right there. Only a few blocks from Government Street, the waterfront, right near the Empress Hotel and the BC Museum. Also, the house has a secure parking area to the rear of the property, which we appreciated. The house itself has been beautifully restored; it looks like it has always been well cared for. Every corner of the public areas is spotless and in perfect order, in addition to being handsomely decorated. Our room was the "Floral Suite," and we think we hit the jackpot. There are two of us, my friend and me. I gave her the bedroom (because she's older than me!), and I took the hide-a-bed. It's a twin, and even it is comfy, a firm foundation, with soft pillows and downy comforter! Unbelievable! Our suite has it's own deck which realized was very special and have been enjoying. Finally, our breakfasts are some of the best I've ever had anywhere - salmon crepes and eggs benedict, so delicate and light. This place gets very high marks from me.
"Make Yourself at Home at the Humboldt"
05/24/14 KGTraveler_13 Pelham Manor, New York
The Humboldt House is ideally located in close proximity to the seaplane port, bus station and downtown Victoria. David is a considerate, gracious, and friendly host, and he and his wife have set up their B&B so that you feel like you are in your own home away from home. Your room is your domain and it is set up with all kinds of wonderful comforts, such as the working fireplace, two-person jacuzzi tub, and breakfast wonderfully packaged and delivered to your room. You also have access to the library, where complimentary sherry and baked goods are available, along with books and pamphlets on sights in and around the island and downtown. The champagne and outrageously yummy chocolate truffles that are part of your welcome are a very nice touch. David makes the truffles, which are called Terrible Truffles -- but the only thing terrible about them is they leave you craving more. Likewise on the breakfast, which is delivered into a "secret" chamber, packed inside a wicker basket with every possible need (utensils, placemats, salt/pepper, etc) provided. While the setting was fine for me on my own, the Humboldt is the ideal romantic getaway. Accessible on foot and near great parks, too. If you'll be heading to Victoria, check it out!
