"Good, but maybe not in summer"
Good hotel, great location just at the entrance of the subway. But no AC (only a fan in the room), which can be a real problem in the summer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"55 Montparnasse -- Great neighborhood location"
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, modern. Very easy walk to two Metro entries and not far to Gare Montparnasse. Lots of places to eat without tourists! Small room for two people in twin beds. Busy, noisy street which may bother some; I sleep through anything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Within 50 yards of Metro; short walk to Train Station; ample restaurants, bistros and grocery stores. Free internet. Inexpensive by Paris standards.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Business hotel at affordable price"
The hotel is not too far from Montparnasse hub which is a good thing. It is about 10 minutes walk. Pernety subway station is right across. The room is small but the bathroom was bigger than I have seen in some other hotels. Room was also clean. Bed quite comfortable. Restaurants are nearby so finding a place to eat is not difficult. The heating system […] had a mind of its own (no thermostat in my room). It got very hot so I had to open the window slightly. Then I discovered how noisy it can be. Forget sleeping late. "Smelly hotel with poor service"
The hotel is in a weird neighborhood with the only good thing about it is it is close to the metro. We felt somewhat unsafe.THe hotel room was extremely small and had a weird food odor to it. The hallways also smelled as if it was above a butcher (which its not). We expected it to be small but there was about a foot on each side of the bed before there […] was a wall. We stayed in other hotels in Europe on this trip and this was hands down the WORST! THe staff were not very friendly and were unhelpful. We felt we overpaid for this quality of hotel and wish we had chosen a different hotel all together! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Staff helpful and convenient location"
The hotel is in a central location, less than a minute from the Pernety Metro station, hence travelling to most attractions was very convenient. The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was reasonable size. Will surely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A great find"
Very pleasant surprise to find this hotel : quiet, immaculately clean, comfortable bed, spotless bathroom with good shower pressure and in a great location. I normally always stay in the Marais, but am keen to explore more of the left bank after this experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"we made it"
although not a close to to the eiffell tower as we would have liked ,still not to far (good 1/2hour walk)it was clean and the staff were helpful and pleasant, the hotel is in a busy area by day and night but was not noisy.if you want a good reasonably priced hotel for a couple of days and dont mind walking (or use the metro) i reccommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I and my husband spent a week in this hotel. The best of this hotel is people working there. The staff was very helpful and polite. The service was excellent. I can't comment on breakfast, but it looked like a decent choice. The area around hotel has a lot of places to eat and relax. There is a place "Turks"where good food at good price can be found. […] There is a possibility to arrange a taxi from the hotel, but be aware that this is more like shuttle that goes around the city picking other passangers, so it takes an hour and a half instead of 50 minutes to get to the airport. Keep it in mind calculating time. The metro is very close and area is very authentic. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, comfortable hotel"
We had a very nice stay in this hotel. Only a couple things I can complain about. One, someone was smoking in their room and it came through the walls into our room. Terrible smell! Also they cleaned the room and left us with many hand towels but no large bath towels. When we asked about it they said they were out of them. Not easy to dry hair with […] hand towels. "Very Pleasant Town Hotel"
We had 4 nights at this hotel recently, whilst sightseeing around Paris. We found it clean, comfortable, friendly and pleasant. "Convenient and clean!"
My wife and i were in Paris for 3 days and 2 nights and were looking for somewhere to rest our heads and that was easy to travel from and clean. The hotel is within spitting distance of a Metro station. We found it very convenient to travel to all of the major tourist attractions. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was a good size with a great shower. […] There is free wifi in the room which worked well. Room came with breakfast at an additional rate, but we chose to explore the many boulangeries within walking distance that had great pastries at great prices. This is not 5 star luxury but we were not looking for that. We took advantage of a special rate on hotels.com and found it very reasonably priced. Only drawback is no aircon in the room, but we thankfully missed the heat wave! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A pleasant stay with helpful staff"
We had the superior room 104 it was very clean. Plenty big enough with nice furnishing and a big bed. Large shutter windows look onto the side street in the bedroom and bathroom, which has a decent shower and bath. Didn't use breakfast service but I saw it and it looked like a good spread. There is a fantastic patisserie next door where we went instead. […] Staff were helpful and friendly. A tube station 'met' is across the street which is easy to use and takes u everywhere u need! "Needs a bit of a makeover"
Hotel is well located and we could not fault the staff. When I booked last November it didn't occur to me that Paris would be sweltering so the lack of air conditioning was disappointing. There was no ceiling fan as stated, only an electric plug in fan. Bathroom was somewhat tired although functional with an effective shower. Beds were comfortable, […] but small for my companion. Convenient for Pernety Metro and local bars for breakfast. We needed the windows open so it was noisy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Budget Hotel"
Rooms are small without air conditioning but bed very comfortable. Street-cleaning and refuge collection all happens from @ 6am. Plenty of restaurants nearby - would recommend 'Nellies' in Rue Raymond Losserand [Italian] about 200 yards from hotel, great service and good price. stayed x2 on stop-overs using railways - right by Metro station.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap and basic"
Cheap hotel that could do with some refurbishment. Hotel staff were very friendly. Room is clean, descend size, nice bed. One extremely rude receptionist, other than that it is ok. The hotel is small and clean. it is convenience to go anywhere and just right out of the Subway. It is worth for what we paid. Only one problem when we stay, we booked the Shuttle bus at 4:30am one week in advance to go to Airport. However, the shuttle bus did not show at all, so we wait half hour then have to take a taxi to catch flight.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Montparnasse "oui" but don't take the taxi!"
Le 55 was well situated as a base for exploring Paris; it is close to a metro and has lots of little shops and restaurants round about. The hotel was clean and the staff pleasant. One down side right at the end of our stay was the nightmare we had with the Paris shuttle taxi, which the hotel recommended (and took a 16 euro cut of the 40 euros). They […] did not mention that it was a shuttle; we thought it was a taxi direct. It arrived 40 minutes late and then went round Paris picking up 4 other people. "A comfortable hotel offering good value for money"
A very good hotel for the price. It is within a 100 metres of Pernety metro station and although this puts it on a main road it was very quiet in our room during the night even with the windows open. Major road works were going on outside the front of the hotel but these didn't affect us too much but the staff were in the line of fire - and coped very […] well. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, mostly using one of the two bars near the metro. We were also able to get a good, reasonably priced evening meal at the bar/restaurant. The hotel was ideal for our purposes and is definitely one that we would return to. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great area to stay"
Great area and so near the metro, great local shops bars and restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
Really nice hotel, reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location as well. A 30 second walk from Pernety metro station which is only a couple of stops from Montparnasse – Bienvenüe (which is a big station linking many lines). Room extremely clean and modern. The only fault I can say is that it was very hot in the room. The windows were […] able to be opened and the room came equipped with a fan, but it was incredibly hot when we would come back to the room in the evenings, and when we woke up. "Good location for exploration."
Almost opposite a Metro station (Perneta) and not far from many sites, so a very convenient location. Parking is minimal, so if arriving by car be warned. The area immediately surrounding the hotel has some good boulangerie, boucherie, and cafes. There is also a supermarket nearby. The bars nearby such as Au Metro are very overpriced, definitely walk […] down a sidestreet to find a cheap French bar. The best restaurant we found in the area was an Italian place called Nellie. Very good. We were looking for French food to try but this area didn't seem to provide it. Italian food is much better anyway, so we weren't complaining. The hotel itself is very basic, but clean. The rooms do get too hot as there is no air conditioning, best to leave the windows open. At £80 a night for a double room I feel breakfast should be included. It is not. Overall though, I think a 3 out of 5 is a fair score. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel literally 30 seconds from Pernety metro station. Area seems good with restaurants and shops. Hotel staff friendly with good English! Room was small but very clean and had everything we needed. We did like the hotel. It was a little bit noise.I slept with ear plugs. My wife didn't. No air condition, so in the summer this hotel is not an option. I suppose will be very hot. The staff were great. Friendly and helpful. Location is right by metro so easy for getting about. Area had plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars. "Excellent hotel for family break"
From arrival to departure the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We were very pleased with our stay at le 55 Montparnasse Hôtel. The room was snug but the comfort level of the bed was above average compared to what we've experienced in other European hotels. And I'll take a comfortable bed over a spacious room! The hotel was right beside a wonderful bakery where we stopped to get pastries for breakfast on our way […] to our day's adventures and the proximity to the Pernety metro station was amazing. A lovely hotel. Basic but modern and fresh. Room was clean, quiet and extremely comfortable. Staff were helpful when required. Located right next to a Metro station 10-15 mins from the centre. "No-frills, comfortable hotel in great location!"
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was great, in a lively neighbourhood, within a couple of hundred metres of the Metro and easy to walk into central areas. The room was bigger than we had expected (after reading a number of other reviews) and we had requested a king-size bed, which we were given. Everything was clean when we arrived, and cleaned […] daily to a good standard. The only downside was that there did not appear to be a bar in the hotel, which we would have appreciated one snowy night after a long day of sightseeing. We would recommend this hotel to those looking for a comfortable base and a slice of life in an authentic Parisian neighbourhood, rather than than those looking for luxury. Great hotel. We barely spent more than 6 hours here, but the staff was very helpful at checking us out at 3am and arranging the shuttle to the airport as our international flight was at 7am. You can slightly hear the subway, but they don't run all night anyhow. Lots of food and shops nearby. Delicious crepery about a 5 minute walk down the street! "Great location, surroundings and value"
Excellent location - Bang opposite a Metro station and never took us more than 10-15 minutes to any of the sights. On a very lively street with many cafes, restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity. Felt safe even late at night. Service - The reception was staffed round the clock and good prompt response to the (few) requests that we had. They […] had a system in place to correctly identify and store luggage after checkout. Check in/out was a breeze and took little more than a minute. Room - The room (we booked a standard one) was decently sized by Paris standards and neat and tidy. Lots of plug-points. Bathroom comes with a full size bath. Nice full size window. Sleep - We didn't sleep very well. The sound insulation is absolutely minimal and all night you can hear the following at regular intervals - the metro passing underneath (my wife didn't though), people using the bathroom in adjoining rooms, people going in/out of their rooms and other random going-ons in rooms nearby. Conclusion - All said and done, I'd stay at this hotel again because it was excellent value, great location and excellent restaurants/cafes/bars within walking distance in a nice safe neighborhood. "No Air Conditioning"
Travelled with family, 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 rooms. Right next door to Metro and nice boulangerie. Neighborhood nice for couples with nearby bistros and such, more locals than tourists. Rooms very small and difficult to move around in if you bring luggage. Rooms had no Air Conditioning (how did I miss this when booking?), but did have very large and loud […] fans in each room. Nice and neat hotel in the heart or Paris. Good eating nearby. Wifi is a plus and staff are helpfulGenuine Expedia guest review
Very pleasant and interesting neighborhood, and about 50m from a Metro stop(Pernety). The rooms were quite inconvenient, partly because of the size. The bathroom in particular was a challenge because it was so small and poorly arranged. My husband and I are both quite small, anyone more amply built would need a shoe horn to get into and out of the […] shower. A lot of the hardware and equipment did not work well (the shower again) and the bathroom door, stuck closed. We mentioned some these problems to Reception but they were quite accepting as though they had heard it all before. The breakfast buffet is very good and served in pleasant room.
