"Useful location, but a bit tired"
04/14/14 travelling_slow Surrey
Useful location for the Paris Roubaix challenge, however the bedroom (51) needs refurbishment - e.g. - neither the inner door nor the bathroom door could be closed easily, the bathroom heater was defective and the feeling of the room was that it needs a really good deep clean. The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly especially the manager.

The room had been used by a smoker who had smoked inside the room. I woke up with blocked nose & nasty taste of cigarette. The soap dispenser was empty The bathroom heater did not work The decor was very tired There was no hair dryer (although I'm not sure whether this is normal or not)
"An overnight stay"

I was disappointed in this Campanile. I have stayed in others & found this one to be not as clean & comfortable. Plus the restaurant & bar were not open the evening we were there. Although it is centrally locatd to the Grand Place, about 5 mins walk the area seems to be run down, with lots of litter lying around & graffiti. The park area infront of the hotel seems to attract druggies & drinkers! However the breakfast was excellent & well worth getting up for. The male member of staff who was working at breakfast was helpful & friendly.
"Value for money"

The Campanille Lille Nord Roubaix offers value for money. We stayed for one night, because we participated in the Paris Roubaix Cyclo. The hotel is situated central, close to the Velodrome, the city centre and the highway. It offers clean rooms and nice beds. Your car with bike is parked safely behind the gate. The staff is polite.

Good chalet style reception and restaurant and food service was v good. No complaints. However rooms are in a block behind the chalet, whilst rooms are clean it is so. Noisy you can hear a pin drop next door or up above you, rooms are cold and quite frankly do not come here, its noisy and i have had 3 hours sleep as a result.
"I would avoid staying here.. But great museum in Roubaix!"

So we stayed here one night my boyfriend and I in the room 3, ground floor. First thing radiator is electric so it's either too cold or too warm in the room, walls are paper thin so you hear all the noises around you especially above you. One advice : If you MUST stay here because you're on a work trip (like I was) then choose a room on the top of the building, that way you will not be woken up at 6 am by the heels and furniture moving from your above neighbor. The breakfast was very disappointing, no eggs, not even hard boiled and cheapo industrial croissants and pancakes that gave me a tummy ache afterwards, for 9,50 eur per person, a ripp off! The person at the reception was kind but didn't know what was going on in his own city so on a Sunday morning he had nothing to suggest us to do. Luckily we have found the "musée de la piscine" which is a beautiful 1920s building with the most beautiful swimming pool I have ever laid eyes on surrounded by the permanent exhibition which is really worth the time. If there is one thing to see or to do in Roubaix it definitely is visiting this museum. We also had lunch there which was very good. http://www.roubaix-lapiscine.com/ Stayed here on 17 November 2012
"nice place to stay for 1-2 nights"

The hotel has decent rooms with two beds and small bathroom. We did like: - the extra heating in the bathroom - comfortable beds - electric kettle in the room - huge variety of tv channels (bad news - we didn't find a single one in English) - easy to find when relying on your GPS. We didn't like: - noisy surrounding in the morning (there's school right next to the hotel) - the way to the rooms is outside the building so everybody is walking outside your windows In general we enjoyed our stay there, but we would reccommend it only for short stays and only during days free from school. :-)
"Your typical motel"

My colleague had booked this 79 euro a night motel for our recent business trip to Lille; I wish he had not. I'm not a fan of motels; the floors had brown linoleum, the room was freezing cold, the bed decently hard and power plugs were hard to find. If i have to think of something positive; breakfast was okay and the water pressure int he shower was good. If you are on a budget, i certainly recommend the Campanile, otherwise i would not.
"Dont be fooled by first impressions!"

On arriving at the hotel we were met by a pleasant, clean and modern looking chalet style building. The male receptionist was very welcoming and very pleasant. We were sent back outside and round the corner to a set of motel buildings (two storey) which were at the back of a very noisy junior school playground. Opening the door we were taken aback at the dingy appearance. A sticky, dirty, cigarette burned wooden floor, a double bed which took up more than half the room, a strange bathroom with a child size bath, thin cheap towels , a broken lamp fitting above the bed, a hanging space with three plastic hangers, and the third bed was a roll away two inches away from the dirty floor. It was so bad we left the room and checked in to the All Seasons hotel in Roubaix at an additional cost of £300. We appreciate the Campanile chain is on the low end of the hotel market, however, we had paid £155.00 for two nights room only. I would not have paid £55.00 for the room it was so awful. The area of Roubaix is not the best impression of France or Lille for that matter. Nowhere seemed to be open in the evening, and to be honest it felt unsafe to be walking around there. We will definitely not be returning to either any Campanile hotel, or the Roubaix area. We had another Campanile hotel booked for Dijon, which I cancelled immediately. Do not be fooled either by my photographs, the room looks decidedly better when lit by flash. There's cheap and there's cheap, and this is both cheap and unpleasant- certainly not suitable for families.
"Typical motel-style lodging with comfortable rooms, restaurant and great price"

Stayed here for two nights to watch Paris-Roubaix. Event management and other official Paris-Roubaix groups were staying here, so we made the right decision. We got a killer rate of 62 euros per night. For the price and location for watching this race, it exceeded our expectations. This is basically like a Travelodge – not quite Hilton Garden Inn quality, but a clean, value stopover. You enter the rooms from the parking lot/side of the building, like a typical U.S. motel. No elevators that we could find, so if you have a lot of luggage, ask for the ground floor/zero. Room was tidy, tea service, desk with two chairs, pillows were decent. The big bonus – free WiFi!!! We slept well. Not too loud. An easy drive from here to stages 4 and 5 of the cobblestones at Paris-Roubaix. Check-in was a breeze, and the lady who runs the registration desk, bar and restaurant is very nice and an impressive multitasker. She speaks good English. My only advice: if you decide to eat in the restaurant, get the buffet. The food is good, and the cheeses and desserts are great. Don’t order the risotto off the menu. It was a ball of typical, bland steamed rice. Good wine list and prices. They were actually serving dinner on a Sunday night (rare in France), so we were thrilled to find anywhere to eat.
