The staff is the friendliest most willing to please I've ever experienced. Constantly asking how your day went, if you are enjoying your stay etc... Lots to do for kids and teens. My husband went here on our honeymoon and loved it. The entertainment staff was exceptional. They were always friendly and would go above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We had two rooms as Preferred members and in one room, the dehumidifier in bathroom didn't work(you really need them working in Punta Cana!). In our other room, the toilet leaked and the fan was broken. Both rooms smelled musty probably from extra moisture from broken fan and dehumidifier and toilet leaking. Negatives: This hotel is not really located in Punta Cana. It is located in Uvero Alto which is a 30-45 mins. drive from Punta Cana. The taxi ride from the airport is US $70. There are many all inclusive resorts that are actually located in Punta Cana and are not as far so consider that when looking for a hotel. We arrived at the hotel at 1 p.m. and […] the room was not ready. I requested to be placed in a different building and the receptionist agreed but asked us to wait an extra hour until they finished cleaning the room. It was not until after 5 p.m. that our room was ready. The receptionist told us that we have ocean view and a jacuzzi none of which was true. I do not like it when people lie to me so I went back to the receptionist, and his manager who overheard our conversation tried to apologize by saying that the receptionist is new and that he did not know what he was saying. Not my problem! The room was not as clean as I expected considering how expensive this hotel is; the pillows smelled bad, the sheets had a blood stain. I did not enjoy the room at all. The drinks at the bar are so watered down. I had over 12 drinks one afternoon and did not even feel tipsy. Usually after three normal drinks I start feeling it. I actually ended up feeling full and couldn't eat as much for dinner. Positives: The food is great at this hotel particularly at the restaurant Oceana. This is a middle of the road resort property. Rooms and facility actually quite nice. Great swimming pool and great nightly entertainment. Drinks at most bars are extremely weak... You must be a preferred club member and go to the preferred club bar to expect cocktails with alcohol.

The hotel had a beautiful lobby and if your going with small children the pool is a perfect fit as its deepest point is only 4 ft. I would say its a lazy river more than anything. Ive been to punta cana before and the bavaro beach definitely set a standard for clean and safe waters. The beach at this resort had 3 foot high waves hitting the shore which didn't seem at all safe. The beach was also full of sea weed and could do with a good clean up at the shore. I will point out that I don't hold the resort responsible for the water, theres only so much we can do about mother nature, however it would have been nice to have sea weed free sand. On another note, I went with my family and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. I am a vegetarian, and there was a limited number of options. All the pre-cooked pastas and salads had either ham or bacon mixed in. On a plus notes the "make your own pasta" option was helpful. Mind you, after 3 meals a day times 5 days it got repetitive. One of my primary concerns was the AC and after reading many reviews from previous tourist regarding bad customer service, rooms without AC and broken old furniture, i would have to say i was quite impressed. We didn't really have to wait for anything; it wasn't too crowded, but enough people to meet, chat and have a good time; the staff was amazingly friendly and happy 24/7; we wanted variety […] and options for eating and drinking and the restaurants and Bars definitely did that for us with their wide selection; For a young couple like ourselves, we loved that we could let loose and still "party" like adults, with a mature crowd, without being surrounded by young "Spring Breakers" per say; the daily activities were something fun and simple that we could enjoy and still have a relaxing day on the beach or at the pool; Although we were pleased with our Deluxe room, we upgraded to a suite with a hot tub and couldn't have made a better decision for a such a great price; and lastly, the spa massage we received was excellent and was better than some that i have received in the states. Even my boyfriend loved the services that were available and the gym access. To say the least, I couldn't have been happier with my first international trip and we will absolutely be staying there again. The hotel did not have any AC in the common areas and there are no elevators in the buildings where the rooms are located. We came back last night and […] are already considering going back, possibly to the same hotel or one within the same chain but in a different beach location. These are the only concerns: 1. The beach is not the best, not the type of beach we expected while in the Caribbean. 2. The hotel is far from the airport and not convenient for exploring the surroundings. You are limited to arranging transportation between airport and hotel and then booking excursions through the concierge or other operators installed at the hotel, or spending all your vacation time inside the hotel, which is doable mostly because of the different restaurant offerings, the entertainment, and the incredibly large pool to hang out. 2. The trip from the airport to the hotel is not an easy one to take on your own. We wanted to rent a car to travel to Santo Domingo and discovered once there that this required being picked up at the hotel, driven an hour to the rental office to pick up the car, and drive an hour back to the hotel. Same challenge when wanting to drop off rental car. Better option would have been to pick up the car at the airport upon arrival and keeping for a week. Read more

When I arrived to my room the safe, TV, and fridge were all not working. When I called about the fridge they sent someone up who handed me more water, coke etc that was still warm. The table had a stain on it, one of two lamps in the room was missing a shade and didn't work. They also clearly took white paint to touch up something on a cream colored wall. The parents of the bride arrived later in the day only to find a puddle on their bed from a leaky roof. They were switched out of the room in the end. Dinner may have a VERY long wait (hour and 45 minute at one restaurant). UGLY: I walked in my room at about 4 one day and found 2 members of the hotel staff in my room that were not the cleaning service. At this point I had not called for any service to it and when I asked they said something in Spanish and walked out. Our initial experience of this resort was not so good. We arrived at 3:30 and our room was not ready. We waited another 2 1/2 hours for our room to be ready which was very frustrating! We liked that there was pool and beach service, but beach service was pretty slow because there were only 2 girls working all days. The swim-up bar closed at 5:00, which seemed early to us. The resort itself was excellent. We had stayed at the Iberostar Dominicana and Dreams Punta Cana resort was a much better stay. Room was clean and fully air conditioned with a large and comfortable full size bed. The beach, while smaller than Iberostar's, was very well maintained with soft sand and plenty of canopies and lounge available. The pool consists […] of two long lazy rivers - both very clean and fun! There is a calm area of the lazy river for relaxing, an area that families gravitated towards, and an area (near the beach) with a swim up bar and music for those looking for a party scene. The only hiccups were with the staff members themselves. The vast majority were excellent, especially Carlos at the concierge desk, but there were a few employees that loved to say "yes" but did not follow through. I spoke with the concierge Carlos and he did his best to rectify it. As for the food, it was actually very good. We enjoyed every meal we had and were very happy that no reservations were needed at any of the restaurants. Want an extra entree? Go for it! The waitstaff is happy to oblige. Liquor is not just rail, JD, Absolut, Malibu, etc. and the frozen drinks are tasty. The entertainment is quality too. The shows, while not quite Vegas, are entertaining and the club plays very current music. Also, take advantage of the spa, it is very relaxing.
