Delightful French interior design, simple and elegant! Very responsive staff, even got a hand-made card from the owners daughter for my birthday! Lots of small, thoughtful touches to make it all a pleasurable stay. Walking distance to downtown so you don't have to drink and drive.

The Metro is a sweet little oasis in the midst of an urban setting. The staff were very obliging and helpful, whenever we had a question. The room was clean and comfortable, and the furnishings really are shabby-chic, just as the photos suggest. We very much enjoyed our stay there and would happily return when we're in the area. Since we had lived […] very close by 50(!) years ago, we were eager to see if the area had changed. Not much. We were delighted to see that many houses have been beautifully restored and preserved, including The Metro. We walked a great deal through the neighborhoods, enjoying the homes of every style imaginable from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. P.S. Petaluma, like its neighbors Santa Rosa and Sonoma, has done a credible job of preserving its past while recognizing the realities of the 21st century. It now draws a great many young professionals to its vibrant downtown--quite a different scene from 50 years ago, when most of the folks on the streets were from surrounding ranches and farms. Cute French themed hotel. Great clawfoot tubs and antique porcelain sinks, but with some stains. Steep stairs to upstairs rooms. Enjoyable, comfortable, fun place, but I wouldn't rate it 3 stars....

After a long, exhausting drive in the rain and traffic, I landed, late at night, at this little Parisian-style oasis. There were some problems with the room key, and the attendent was quick to help. Because it's an older building, there was some noise from the room above, which woke me in the morning. I would recommend that the proprietors consider […] not playing both French pop music and American televised news at the same time in the foyer and cafe. It was too loud and a bit confusing as my brain did jumping jacks between the sweet French music and blaring American English. Avery nice hotel with a french theme. The room my wife and I stayed was very quaint and comfortable. I did need the fan to stay cool (no air), but it was a great stay!!

The hotel is very cute, great rooms. The only two things that came up for me was the room had no windows and it got a little warm. A ceiling fan would have helped. Also, we were charged an additional $15 for using the soap and shampoo provided. I've never stayed at any hotel where I was charged for toiletries. I guess you're supposed to bring your  […] own. Metro was a pleasant surpise. Stands by itself in a predominantly residential area. Old building done up really nicely with comfortable touches and friendly staff. Parking on the street. Short drive to downtown Petaluma.

If you're tired of hotels with no personality, this hotel is for you! This charming little hotel has unique decor in every room and feels family run. We were greeted by two young ladies and pretty much immediately felt like they were my nieces! The rooms are small but charming; the walls are a little thin, so don't talk or step too loudly, though. My […] shower could have used more water pressure, but was fine. The complimentary breakfast is just pastries and coffee, and you brew your own coffee. This was a very quaint hotel with lots of character. The rooms are very unique with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. There was a claw foot tub in the bath which was painted red. Hotel seems to be trying very hard to be eclectic French- adorable quirky decor, but our room was small and awkward. We stayed four nights to tour wine country and San Francisco. No place to put a second suitcase( we asked for another luggage rack but didn't get one) no dresser, one tiny bedside stand with a huge lamp in the shape of a goose, one tiny […] shelf in the bathroom -so most of our stuff stayed on the floor. A case of form over function. Friendly staff. We did not use the self service cafe. Probably a nice one night stop unless you can get a more commodious room. Read more

personally did not like it! very awkward entrance with only a few parking sittes. We had to park on a dark street both nights. The TV had very few channels, no national news channels, and no sport channels. The walls are not insulated, and one can hear a pin drop from next door .

The Metro Hotel is the cutest B&B I have stayed at. The service was kind and prompt. Very knowledgable of the area, and a very comfortable hotel. The French theme was great with authentic vintage Parisian details. Nex time you are in Petaluma, it is a must stay. You will love it.

Pleasing decor and very comfortable bed, but room was much smaller than anticipated. No chest of drawers. Only a hanging shoe type apparatus in the small closet providing a few "cubbies" for the whole week's clothing. I added a couple of nights to this reservation before arrival. Staff who answered the phone to add those nights could have warned me […] that the room was very small and sparse for 2 people for a 6 night stay. We were not sure what to expect when we booked three nights at the Metro Hotel and Cafe. Their literature said it was like a bed and breakfast but not run like one. What you will find is a small hotel built in the late 1800s and meticulously restored. Comfortable, beautifully furnished rooms and baths with antique appointments like ball and claw tubs […] but with flat screen TVs. The staff is pleasant and always reachable but inconspicuous, Each morning they put out fresh coffee and coffee cakes but you seldom see them around. The grounds are inviting as is the common rooms, Walking distance to downtown Petaluma with great restaurants, shops and movies. Very quiet and restful place. Read more

The owner/manager was very nice and accommodating even though I arrived at 3 in the morning. The hotel was very quiet even though there were hardwood floors and it was an old building with thin walls. I really enjoyed […] the self serve setup because I like being left alone! If you want someone to wait on you hand and foot and need a lot of attention don't stay here but if you want your peace and quiet in a homey setting this is the place for you. I absolutely loved this hotel. It was like a mini trip to France with the interesting design and decor, patio, cafe with the most delicious coffee (gratis), and very friendly and accomodating owners. Walking distance from charming downtown Petaluma with yummy restaurants, entertainment, and quaint shops. Would stay her again and again.

OMG we all LOVED this hotel. I would travel 2 hours again just to stay here. The hotel is super charming, modern, clean and has lots of fun, inviting personality.
