This hotel is definitely for tourist. It has a lot of French rustic charecture. Very cute and traditional. As far as my being a business traveller on the functionality of the room I rented; I found it lacking acruechments.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic place to stay; unique and charming!"
The hotel is very nice, secure, comfortable, and had great internet. I was first disappointed that each room did not have a refrigerator , but the hotel only has so few rooms that a communal fridge worked out well. Muffins were provided in the morning and my wife and I just loved the atmosphere.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Room is too small, small overhead window"
We were given a room with no window except an overhead skylight that opens with a stick. When we try to open it more, the stick disengaged. The shower does not work well. We were given a queen for two people . We have a down comforter in summer in a warm room with no A/C. Not a comfortable stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"J'aime le motif francais!"
Really lovely. Enjoyed my morning Peet's coffee at little table in little garden right outside my door in glorious sunshine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved loved this little gem. Great decor and homey atmosphere. Cutie cute room. Clawfoot tub, yes! Parisian feel but much bigger room than you would get in Paris! Would definitely stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute, quaint hotel"
Enjoyed our stay at the Metro Hotel. Cute, quaint place with French flair. If you enjoy getting a different overnight experience than a Holiday Inn, you will like this place. Smaller, unique rooms. Our first room was too hot (no vent), but we were quickly moved to a much cooler room with a skylight. Petaluma is very cute too--wished we would've scheduled […] more time to spend in this small town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint and Clean Metro Lodge and Cafe"
I booked last minute on hotels.com and booked this one because the rate was reasonable. I didn't realize it was a French-themed hotel, which pleased both my boyfriend and me since we like French things. But due to the holiday weekend, the front desk wasn't staffed much, though nothing was needed as we had all we needed. In the morning, the radio played […] French songs and there was coffee and tea. The store-bought plastic-wrapped sweet pastries didn't appeal to us, but we brought our own breakfast, so that was fine. We liked very much the patio area which was shaded by umbrellas and decorated with metal chairs and tables. We would definitely stay here again on our way north. "Charming French Theme"
We loved the decor, the yard, the room, the quaintness, the morning coffee. Overall a great place. Our only disappointment, and not totally unexpected in such an old building, is the shower in the morning went from icy to scalding.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quirky but Pleasant"
This is a nice place to stay in Petaluma that is based upon someone's vision of small, quaint European hotels. Quite quirky, but of good quality. No elevators, but they will take your bags up and down for you to the 2nd floor. Nice breakfast area, very comfortable beds. Best said is that my SO (female) loved the place. I thought it was good, but I am […] not a big fan of "quaint" and tend to like Hyatt Regency style to that of B&B's. My SO "aggressively" disagrees and really enjoyed staying here. "Cute hotel with excellent service"
This is a wonderfully located B & B just a couple of blocks to stores and restaurants in downtown Petaluma. Jeff, checked us in and was so kind, warm and very professional, his bosses should double his pay !!!!! He answered all of our questions, and made us feel at home. Because the hotel was built in the 1800's, the floors are a little creaky, and […] the walls a little thin, but that adds to the charm of the property. No extra charges were made for using the toiletries provided in the bathroom. They are CLEARLY in large containers which the hotel refills when low, and are not meant to be taken at the end of your stay. Don't worry, they won't charge for them as a prior guest had written. He probably took the 10 oz container of shampoo thinking it was free like the sample sized ones given at motels Although the room had no a/c, a room fan was provided in the closet and helped to cool down our room in summer. Highly recommended for a fun time at a wonderful location with a great price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Right in wine country..."
The Metro hotel was perfectly located for our stay in wine country. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms were very well decorated. Very easy to get to downtown Petaluma, as well as the rest of Sonoma county and surrounding wineries. My only complaint is that Jeff told us he was moving us to a "better" room, however, the room he moved us to was […] right next to the kitchen and cafe, which meant a lot of early morning noise and traffic. The hotel is a neat site. Old fashioned french style close to downtown Petaluma. The staff is geat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you're looking for modern this is not it. If you want clean, comfortable, charming amenities with a French BnB flair and style then you cannot miss with Metro. Very friendly staff in a very different setting. Will stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Funky fun. It was nice for 1 night but I'm not sure my husband would have gone for 2. The rooms were clean with rustic, eclectic furnishings. It's an old building so the walls are thin. A lot of places for outside sitting but the cafe chairs are a little rickety. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
I appreciate the level of attentive service the hotel staff took to welcome me upon arrival. This hotel is a family run business and they certainly did a nice job of welcoming me to their 'home'. A historic mansion that was converted to a hotel, the rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Lots of quirky decorations and little nooks make this spot […] unique and a welcome change from the typical hotel chain. In the mornings they offer pastries and coffee. Thank you for a comfortable stay, I will be back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Delightful French interior design, simple and elegant! Very responsive staff, even got a hand-made card from the owners daughter for my birthday! Lots of small, thoughtful touches to make it all a pleasurable stay. Walking distance to downtown so you don't have to drink and drive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Sweet Little Oasis"
The Metro is a sweet little oasis in the midst of an urban setting. The staff were very obliging and helpful, whenever we had a question. The room was clean and comfortable, and the furnishings really are shabby-chic, just as the photos suggest. We very much enjoyed our stay there and would happily return when we're in the area. Since we had lived […] very close by 50(!) years ago, we were eager to see if the area had changed. Not much. We were delighted to see that many houses have been beautifully restored and preserved, including The Metro. We walked a great deal through the neighborhoods, enjoying the homes of every style imaginable from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. P.S. Petaluma, like its neighbors Santa Rosa and Sonoma, has done a credible job of preserving its past while recognizing the realities of the 21st century. It now draws a great many young professionals to its vibrant downtown--quite a different scene from 50 years ago, when most of the folks on the streets were from surrounding ranches and farms. It's a great town to visit! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Cute French themed hotel. Great clawfoot tubs and antique porcelain sinks, but with some stains. Steep stairs to upstairs rooms. Enjoyable, comfortable, fun place, but I wouldn't rate it 3 stars....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just what we were looking for"
Charming hotel. Absolutely loved the decor. Shabby chic perhaps but the room was clean. The design accents were clever and thoughtful. The price was amazing. I would stay here again in a second.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Delightful French Treat while in CA Wine Country"
After a long, exhausting drive in the rain and traffic, I landed, late at night, at this little Parisian-style oasis. There were some problems with the room key, and the attendent was quick to help. Because it's an older building, there was some noise from the room above, which woke me in the morning. I would recommend that the proprietors consider […] not playing both French pop music and American televised news at the same time in the foyer and cafe. It was too loud and a bit confusing as my brain did jumping jacks between the sweet French music and blaring American English. Otherwise, the inn was delightful, a lot of fun with the playful, antique French decor, and the attentive staff. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"nice, quaint and comfortable hotel!"
Avery nice hotel with a french theme. The room my wife and I stayed was very quaint and comfortable. I did need the fan to stay cool (no air), but it was a great stay!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is very cute, great rooms. The only two things that came up for me was the room had no windows and it got a little warm. A ceiling fan would have helped. Also, we were charged an additional $15 for using the soap and shampoo provided. I've never stayed at any hotel where I was charged for toiletries. I guess you're supposed to bring your […] own. "Quaint, clean, with on-site coffee shop."
Metro was a pleasant surpise. Stands by itself in a predominantly residential area. Old building done up really nicely with comfortable touches and friendly staff. Parking on the street. Short drive to downtown Petaluma.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Charming, quirky hotel"
If you're tired of hotels with no personality, this hotel is for you! This charming little hotel has unique decor in every room and feels family run. We were greeted by two young ladies and pretty much immediately felt like they were my nieces! The rooms are small but charming; the walls are a little thin, so don't talk or step too loudly, though. My […] shower could have used more water pressure, but was fine. The complimentary breakfast is just pastries and coffee, and you brew your own coffee. Not a lot, restaurant-wise, nearby, so plan accordingly. Free parking lot behind the hotel. All in all, this was a nice stay and I would go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Unique decor"
This was a very quaint hotel with lots of character. The rooms are very unique with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. There was a claw foot tub in the bath which was painted red. "Good for one night stay"
Hotel seems to be trying very hard to be eclectic French- adorable quirky decor, but our room was small and awkward. We stayed four nights to tour wine country and San Francisco. No place to put a second suitcase( we asked for another luggage rack but didn't get one) no dresser, one tiny bedside stand with a huge lamp in the shape of a goose, one tiny […] shelf in the bathroom -so most of our stuff stayed on the floor. A case of form over function. Friendly staff. We did not use the self service cafe. Probably a nice one night stop unless you can get a more commodious room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great for traveling"
Very clean, unique and comfortable. Would certainly stay againGenuine Expedia guest review
personally did not like it! very awkward entrance with only a few parking sittes. We had to park on a dark street both nights. The TV had very few channels, no national news channels, and no sport channels. The walls are not insulated, and one can hear a pin drop from next door .Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A must stay in Peraluma"
The Metro Hotel is the cutest B&B I have stayed at. The service was kind and prompt. Very knowledgable of the area, and a very comfortable hotel. "Funky but tiny"
Pleasing decor and very comfortable bed, but room was much smaller than anticipated. No chest of drawers. Only a hanging shoe type apparatus in the small closet providing a few "cubbies" for the whole week's clothing. I added a couple of nights to this reservation before arrival. Staff who answered the phone to add those nights could have warned me […] that the room was very small and sparse for 2 people for a 6 night stay. I think they probably have larger rooms on the premises. Ours would have been fine for one or two nights. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A truly unique and pleasant experience"
We were not sure what to expect when we booked three nights at the Metro Hotel and Cafe. Their literature said it was like a bed and breakfast but not run like one. What you will find is a small hotel built in the late 1800s and meticulously restored. Comfortable, beautifully furnished rooms and baths with antique appointments like ball and claw tubs […] but with flat screen TVs. The staff is pleasant and always reachable but inconspicuous, Each morning they put out fresh coffee and coffee cakes but you seldom see them around. The grounds are inviting as is the common rooms, Walking distance to downtown Petaluma with great restaurants, shops and movies. Very quiet and restful place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Funky French Hostel Hotel"
The Metro has a nice hostel feel to it. Lots of interesting stuff in a really historical building. Road noise could be an issue but was not disturbing to us. Coffee and self serve breakfast was disappointing. Coffee was good , I was expecting more than pound cake as food. A bit of fruit, cereal or toast/bagel options would have been perfect. "Good place for couples"
We stayed 2 nights. Quiet, nice bed, breakfast was only a choice of 2 sweet breads. Coffee was good but would be better made with filter funnels. Lack of elevator would make access for those less mobile an issue. Great affordable restaurant called the Bistro just two blocks walk away. Excellent food at mid lvel pricesGenuine Expedia guest review

"Beautiful French-style hotel"
My family and I spent a night in this hotel and were very pleased with it. All the hotel is decorated in old French style. My brother-in-law is from France and he was very excited about some of the decoration elements there was in the hotel common areas and the rooms. Clearly very good attention to detail! The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. […] The only complain I could have is the shower: a bit small, no much water pressure and the temperature difficult to regulate, but nothing too serious. They have a cafe with free coffee and pastries, and nice outdoor seating where you can relax or even play bocce! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates staying in a place with its own personality rather than a cookie cutter experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
