It was fine except there was a party outside out window at 3:30 am that took 2 calls to reception to stop.

This hotel is convenient to downtown Davis and within walking distance of the university campus and Mondavi Center, yet was very quiet. The room, in what they called a "cottage" (3 units in one small building) was huge and extremely comfortable. The continental breakfast was ordinary, but the breakfast room was clean and bright. There seemed to be a […] number of children staying in the hotel but because of the "cottage" configuration, they were invisible and silent. I took my daughter for a tour of the college. We stayed one night to be close to the campus Breakfast was good, we had waffles, bagels and cream cheese. The coffee was Seattle's best, also good.

I have stayed here before but noticed that the hotel needed some upkeep on this last visit. There were holes in the walls unpatched, toilet seemed to leak and run, and the subfloor above creaked noisily and the furnishings seem quite dated. On the positive side, the hotel is in a great location in a quiet neighborhood on the border of the University. […] You can walk downtown where there are nice restaurants. We had a very pleasant stay st the Aggie. The location is close to downtown and the Davis Campus. There many restaurants and movie houses within in easy walking distance. We recommend it to anyone visiting Davis.

I went to Davis on New Year's Eve day to escape my noisy SF neighborhood. The campus, town and hotel were very quiet indeed, so the caveat about my experience is just that. The hotel was what I wanted, as I could walk to it from Amtrak and then around town and campus. It seemed to fit other recent reviews, was clean, and with a great bed and bath products. […] I went with little so the friendly staff provided me with packets of toothpaste and shaving cream. I could see the evidence of the recent upgrade, and it was worth it. The breakfast is the now-standard waffle/bad Danish/apples/cereal package, but it worked in a pinch. And the windows opened! Thus, no complaints from me. I will stay there again, aware of the unique timing of my stay. Read more

We had 3 rooms for the night of Dec 24. Hotel was comfortable and quiet-- which was probably due to no traffic and no students. Was suprised that the holiday did not have a single holiday decoration. Rooms were a good value, and staff was helpful (e.g. provided a crib right away).

The room itself was very nice, but there was was no elevator, so to lug heavy suitcases up flights of steps wasn't fun from a 6 day trip. The breakfast was very convenient, with a make-them-yourself Belgian waffle machine, and usual cereals, juices, etc. The heat/cooling controls were quiet, and the bed comfortable. Easy walking to down town restaurants and next door to the campus at U.C. Davis which is also a pleasant walk (or bike ride as all the students do). The hotel is small, quiet for its corner location, easy free parking. We had a disabled person in our party and it was easy to get her moved in as the cars were near an entrance and it was a direct 30 feet […] to her room. Very basic "breakfast" offered but there was a fridge and coffee in the room and the great restaurants around made it unnecessary to even try it. I would definitely stay here again. The Aggie is in a nice spot near downtown and I wanted to like it. However, the A/C wa so noisy (periodic clicking sound) that sleep was hard to come by. Also, the antiquated hairdryer was as effective as having someone with a fever breath on your hair. Would maybe be ok when it's cooler outside and the A/C isn't needed. It's a nice place, but they put us in what must be their worst room, even though the hotel was not full. The room had only a small frosted window and all night long the air-conditioner from their cabins next door woke us up since it was so noisy when it turned on. Visited my kids during Labor Day - Positively surprised. Small, clean, in downtown Davis, easy to find and easy drive to UC Davis. A nice walking distance from restaurants. Overall, clean, comfortale, nice-size room, and friendly service. Need to improve parking. Overall - strongly recommend for the price.

The Aggie is located adjacent to UC Davis so an easy walk for parents & students coming to tour. I was disappointed in the quality of the hotel though. Our room was located right at the corner of a very busy intersection. We were not given an option for a quieter room. I guess thankfully the fan was very loud so it drowned out most of the traffic noise. […] We read online about an outdoor pool at the hotel, but it was nowhere to be found. The materials at the hotel only mentioned a jacuzzi and sauna. The free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast were nice. I was however, disappointed to see there's a much nicer Hyatt Place hotel actually on the Davis campus that at least in August is available for about the same rate. It's in a much quieter location off the main streets. I would definitely stay there instead if I go back. Read more

Just such a great location for visiting alumni. Nice walk in the morning along Putah creek and the Quad. The king suite/cottage had room enough for the 4 years old twins on the fold-out sofa in the living room. The King was spacious and the jacuzzi in the bathroom a plus. Definately will be the first choice next time.

It is tough to get a room here during any home football game, Picnic Day, or graduation. Book your room 12 months in advance! But our recent mid-week stay was a non-event weekend (helping our son move out of his apartment) and rooms were open with short notice. The first room we were given had an unpleasant odor. The receptionist was extremely helpful and pleasant and moved us to another room which was fine and she called to check that we were satisfied. There was some construction going on, but it didn't affect us. We only stayed one night. There are not many hotels in Davis, so would probably stay here […] again. Gave a four due the welcoming we got. The receptionist was busy and didn't bother smiling or ask how she was able to help us. She was on the phone at first, then she got on the computer while ignoring our presence. I had to come up to her. Just bad customer service.

We enjoyed our brief stay at the Aggie. Very convenient to shopping, restuarants, UCD. Excellent if you're visiting UCD. There is no elevator so be prepared. I found this hotel to be perfectly situated for a visit to UC Davis. I just came back from taking my son - a prospective student - and we were very happy with this hotel. The beds were comfortable, we had a microwave & mini fridge, parking was no problem and we were able to walk to all of our destinations. We found the staff to be friendly & helpful. It is very small (maybe 20 rooms in all). They do have a small excercise room, but if you park your car and walk everywhere, who needs it? The breakfast is a continental - serve yourself - breakfast.
