Loved the "motel" aspect of it and the private outdoor space. Also loved the style of the room and the view-real boaters place! Our only complaint is that the quality of the kayaks and especially their paddles was poor. We turned around and got our money back ( with no trouble, which was nice). Would definitely return!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Once again arriving in Kennybunkport with no accommodation booked. Drove around this amazing port (holiday home to the Bush family) and came across this lovely motel right on the water and in the port. Beautiful rooms, linen, amenities and opening onto a private terrace by the water - but that's not all. Afternoon tea served from 3 - 4pm, cheese/crackers port and brandy served 4.30 - 6pm and the most amazing complimentary breakfast with everything that you would want. Highly recommend this venue for any stay in Kennybunkport. George Bush's US Secret Service boat parked right outside our door so felt quite safe. Stayed 2 nights here.

When you first drive up to this 60s style motor inn, keep an open mind! Once you walk through the front door of your room, you are transported to paradise. The main room has the "spa" look and feel including a king-size bed featuring a pillow-top mattress and oodles of pillows. Our room included a large circular table with wicker chairs and a small dog bed, toy and bowl. The towels in the fairly small bathroom are SOFT, like the kind you used to steal 40 years ago when you went away with your family on a roadtrip. A Keurig coffee maker and small refridgerator are also included. Each unit overlooks the marina which is serene and calming. The rooms are literally steps away from the dock/slips and include a full wall of windows and a french door leading out to a semi-private porch. Across the river is the Franciscan Guest House and trails (pets not allowed). Three miles down the road the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge (dogs allowed on a leash). This uber pet friendly inn offers "afternoon tea" (cheese, crackers, cookies and wine) and a complimentary breakfast spread from the White Barn Spa that puts to shame any "continental" breakfast offered anywhere else. Along with plenty of outdoor seating, this area also features a firepit for cold, Maine evenings. Close enough to Dock Square to walk, and beautiful, well maintained neighborhoods to get lost in after dinner. Love, love love this inn, and will definitely return in the future!

Continuing on from Cape Cod to Kennebunkport ME...I could not agree more with another review that it was a pearl of luxury. Soft, huge, pillowy king bed that was so comfortable it reminded me of the Westin bed. So good. Pull out sofa for the kids...room was bright and open ,clean and fresh and the French doors out to the back overlooking the river...just so peaceful and calming. Walk or drive into Kennebunkport...go take a look at the Bush compound not too far down the road. Our host could not have been more friendly, sincere and genuine. Not to mention they allow pets...couldn't have taken this trip without my Elvis....she was welcomed with open arms. Breakfast...amazing!!! Quiche, cereals...yogurt, bagels croissants, toast...jams and jellies...coffee gourmet tea choices, granola...fruit, I could go on. Then lets talk afternoon.....tea with wonderful tea breads....we missed on that but oh no, there's more....4:30 to 6pm....cheese and crackers with Brandy (in those great snifters) or Port Wine. Yum anyone? Sit inside, sit out by the river...we were there in April so a little chilly, however that did not stop my husband and daughter from starting a wonderful fire in the pit out back. Sitting in the adirondak chairs...fire and the river...sipping brandy....good start to a wonderful evening at a local place for dinner. Quiet, calming and so friendly...we will definitely be back...would recommend this place for anyone...you will be very pleasantly surprised.
"Good Value; Lovely Rooms"

Clearly the rooms have been recently remodeled. Décor is bright, fresh and clean, with high ceilings and massive sliding glass windows that look out on the river. King bed was covered with a duvet...very comfortable. Space is ample and bathrooms are remodeled nicely. The walk to town is easy. We were happy to be away from the hubbub of Christmas Prelude in a quiet place. Breakfast was decent, but the little breakfast room was cold, so we only ate there one morning. It is a motel in terms of limited services and space. Quite happy with the value.
"The Yachtsman Lodge on the water"

In many minds 'motel' means down-market accomodation. The Yachtsman is anything but down-market. Huge rooms tastefully decorated, enormous king size beds, fluffy duvets and cosy terry-toweling bath robes; each room's French windows give on to private terrace at the Kennebunk River's edge. We had our evening drinks outside watching the sun setting behind the spectacular foliage accross the water. Morning reflections in the river were spectacular. Complimentary afternoon tea and pre-dinner port and cheese board add to the experience. No inhouse restaurant but receptionist is happy to make reservations at sister properties the White Barn Inn or Stripers Waterside restaurant - both excellent eateries in close proximity to the Yachtsman. Copious breakfast buffet included in price. Excellent value luxurious accomodation and friendly staff; located on the river and within walking distance of Kennepunkport with its many restaurants and boutiques. Fabulous experience and wouldn't stay anywhere else when next we visit.

During an autumn foliage tour in New England we happened to come accross this beautiful spot just as darkness fell. What we saw from the roadside as traditional motel, turned out to be a ideally located pearl of luxury and comfort never before experienced in the motel-world. Stunning view directly on the marina and boats, sunrise terrace with visitng ducks, clean and spacious rooms, nice interior and decor, high tea and biscuit & brandy included, bikes at your disposal, extensive and delicious breakfast buffet (a far cry from the understatet continental breakfast stated in the brochure), and walking distance to the wide choice of restaurants in Kennebunkport center.

After being disappointed by what was on offer in Portland, we drove on to Kennebunkport, expecting things to be mega expensive. Not so, Yachtsman cost $15 less than Portland would have done. Fantastic vista backing on to river, marina there, and the most comfortable bed I've experienced in the USA. A real find
"Excellent location and comfort"
10/07/13 McLeodM Toronto, Canada
This was fabulous-so much nicer than the larger hotels, the rooms have French doors opening out to the grass-about 12feet from the harbour river with all the super yachts and boats. Plus the staff were fabulous-great breakfast, the in the afternoon and port, brandy and cheese before dinner if you wish. All for a Very reasonable price. It was quiet, large rooms and very comfortable.
