"A+ grade on Location- F on Condition"
The hotel condition definitely trumps the great location. I'll make the driving trade off the next time I stay in the area! In desperate need of a renovation. Courteous service can offset the poor accommodations only so much.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a very unique hotel. The elevator, staff, bars were so NEAT!!! I will stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A little run-down; however, folks were most pleasant and the breakfast was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good to see Aiken again"
I was pleased with the Hotel AikenGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very convenient downtown location makes it easy to walk to shopping and history museums. Rooms were a little tired (well worn, cheaply adorned) so picky folks may not be happy but the staff was friendly and the local restaurants and watering holes accommodating. I enjoyed the college baseball broadcast on the wall of the patio bar.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great stay and no complaints. The staff was friendly and the hotel is well kept while still holding a rich history.Genuine Expedia guest review
I actually grew up in Aiken and know this hotel well. I stayed here because of a family funeral and wanting my own space. I no longer live in Aiken though. The bar on any given night is fairly crowded (that is good) but they really need to do some work to clean up the outside area of the bar. There needs to be a bit more pride about it. The backside […] of the hotel really needs some reconditioning (the bar is partially out back) My room was comfortable and had some work done recently but they forgot to put a new door up, it was very beat up and the veneer was pulling away from it. The hardwoods didn't quite make it to the corner in part of the room as well. The flatscreen TV is nice but a 26" is rather small for the large room. Room could have been a bit cleaner. Found random hairs on the sink (not mine as I have short hair)Price was ok...during an off week you would expect a bit better. Location is perfect for any event downtown. The AM breakfast was ok but some major work really needs to happen in the dining room. It was very hodge podge with random tables placed about. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great value in downtown Aiken. Very close to all the nightlife. Downstairs bar was nice. Overall would return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"lovely historic hotel"
Charming hotel has lovely lobby. There is a charming antique staff operated elevator with a brass grill. Rooms have nice furniture and comfortable beds and a nice view of a tree lined streetGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Older hotel. Manual elevator. Creaky floors/stairs. Not an emphasis on clean. Great for single business travelers who want to be downtown and don't mind noise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value, great location."

"Great classic hotel"
Stayed one night as I was attending Masters. Hotel is in a perfect spot right in town close to many amenities and restaurants a few steps from hotel. Hotel was built in 1898 and apparently rennovated in 2001. I loved the character of the hotel and the pictures on the walls were amazing - 1934 1st Masters group, hotel from early 30's. One elevator that […] is manually operated all gave charm and character to the hotel. Room was big, well furnished and comfortable. Everyone was very nice, great service and value. Our stay included two free drink coupons (which we gave away) and breakfast - which was decent. They have a few bars in the lobby that play live music on the weekends, so you have to be aware of where you're room is located if you're an early bed person, but I loved the place and would recommend to anyone - not sure if kid friendly, but adults for sure. Great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is our second stay and have already booked our stay for a few days in June. I love this location as it is close to great antique shops, downtown stores and great restaurants. Our favorite place to stop is Aiken Brewery. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Room clean and quiet. Great bars on site as well. Definitely recommend. Not fancy but q […] uaint. great value for money but we must consider that the hotel is of a certain age and was constructed to cater for customers when values were different.Take everything into account and it is great value for money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Place to Stay"

"A good value"
I was pleasantly surprised by the value. Hot breakfast was included. Very fast good wi-fi was included. Coupons for free wine and beer in three hotel restaurant watering-holes were provided. Room is a standard hotel room with plenty of space. Extras like microwave, fridge, ironing board, and a real desk with rolling chair were present. Shampoos, soaps, […] and lotions and plenty of linens were presented. Only issue was those people using their free drink coupons got very happy and loud much of the night both nights. It didn't ruin my day or night. Life is life. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"very dirty hotel"
Place was dirty, garbage not taken out for 3 days until told Peggy. Street people were outside wanting smokes and money. Went to bar and took 10 min. to get a drink. The girl at the breakfast area had her head down sleeping.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Within an easy walk of many downtown attractions"
We had a room in the main hotel on the 3rd flr. and we're there mid-week, so noise was not a problem. The hotel has two sections. The main hotel and a motel section next to an outdoor tiki bar, so I can see where noise could be a problem. The main building is old and it shows. The biggest drawback is a tiny elevator that must have a hotel staff operator. […] We were on the third, top, floor and walked up and down. If stairs are tough or if you have a lot of luggage that elevator will be an inconvenience. The room was well kept with high ceilings and a ceiling fan. It also had WiFi. The window had only sheers. No blackout curtain. That turned out to be less of a problem than I thought it would. The staff was friendly but there was only one person on the front desk and they had to work the elevator too. I did not like the included brakfast bar. Paper plates, plastic utensils, very noisy air conditioning unit, etc. If i needed to be downtown I would stay there again, especially now that I know what to expect. I'd stay in the main hotel and I'd pass on the free breakfast in favor of one of the local restaurants. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Noisy at all hours of night, trucks and partying in hotel bar.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was very pleased with my room amd the service my family and I had. My two year old had a upaet stomach during the night. We need new sheets the front desk lady was helpful and showed concern for her. Looking forward to the next time. I love it there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place in downtown"
Large, comfy rooms. Beds and linens very comfortable. Great location downtown, within walking distance to a lot of dining options and a nice bar/rest. in the hotel. Will be back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great southern town, hotel was just ok."
Our room was very dated but somewhat expected for an older hotel. (we had a rounded front TV in our room) It looked like someone had spit up on the curtains and hadn't been cleaned. Our room was across from a maintenance closet and it was open the whole time. The bed was way too soft and the sheets were very loose fitting and kept bunching up. (We had […] a king bed...not sure why sheets were loose). The internet hook up wires in the room had been stripped (but didn't bring my computer so it wasn't a big deal). For what we paid, more was expected. I could have stayed in a comfort suites for the same price and gotten more. The staff was very friendly however and did what they could to accomodate and I found no fault with them. Aiken is a charming town and I love to visit and I had fun while I was there. The location of this hotel, in Downtown Aiken, SC is excellent. Close to downtown restaurants, near the University and close enough to the Aiken Mall. The hotel is quaint, but could definitely use an update. The carpet in the hallways is old. The rooms were nice, however, there is no fan in the bathrooms and there are limited plug ins for charging […] phones, computers, ipads, etc. The staff is friendly and the hotel restaurants were good. "Nice location, very old dilapidated hotel"
staff was friendly, antique elevator for luggage only, website looks modernized, not true at all, hotel rooms were old, no ice machine, no vending machines, bathroom attractive, shower was disappointing, very little water pressure and sporadic like rain, beds were squeaky, television old, EXTREMELY noisy, website states if you have a room inside - it […] will be quiet, not so - you can hear everyone and everything going on on the street and voices in the hallway, would not stay here again, breakfast was terrible, diningroom dirty, choices were poor, website for the Hotel does not reflect actual experience or what it looks like when you get there, EXTREMELY disappointed!!! :-( Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Location is great as it's in the middle of downtown. The hotel lounge/pub is also a popular nightlife spot for the locals so that can be a benefit to you if you are looking for something to do. I didn't find the noise a problem at all. Courtyard rooms are little old but ok inside. I was there in late June which is off-season I guess so don't think those […] rooms were used too much. Couple of stains on pillow case which was unfortunate...but overall I returned again and made new reservation day later at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

As expected with an older hotel, you'll see it needs some updating. We stay for it's quaintness and convience downtown. I would stay again. The free drink coupons at check in where a nice touch.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I took my fiance and her children to shop in Aiken and then head to the Big Money for a double feature and elected to stay at the Aiken Hotel. We stayed in a two room suite with a queen and two doubles. The elevator needs to be ran by an assistant and it was offered to bring up the luggage; otherwise it's stairs. Room was stuffy and we couldn't operate […] the fans and turning down thermostat didn't work but a clear breezy night we opened windows since we were on the third floor. They were very gracious and assisted in a strawberry and chocolates platter with mimosas to surprise my fiance for mother's day. No room service but they said go to the store and bring it in and they would fix everything and bring it up. It looked fantastic and it was very appreciated. I would stay there again! Very nice employees with old town charm. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place for the young with plenty of energy"
Stay was okay, but the elevator is old and out of date. It worked very little and being on third floor was a little hard having bad foot but I made it.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Don't even think about it!"
This place was a complete dump. I'm pretty sure it's more commonly used by the hour. Disgustingly dirty, very loud, woreless staff!Genuine Expedia guest review
. The bar behind the hotel was incredibly loud even at 1 am, that was annoying when trying to sleep. Also the breakfast was not good and there was not much variety.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pictures are decieving"
The internet did not work in our room and the hotel staff did not seem at all bothered by this. We could get it to work in the lobby but the last morning it wouldn't even work there. The bathtub looked really dirty when in reality it just needs to be replaced because it is full of scratches and such that make it look pretty disgusting. The room had […] pieces of wallpaper missing and did not even match on all of the walls. I saw a roach in the bathroom the last night there and when I went to kill it I noticed there was trash back behind the toilet. The breakfast left a little to be desired like cold milk (on the first day it was warm) and the bacon was thin I could see through it and it didn't taste much like bacon. I know the reviews and even the hotel website talk about the noise we were there on a Monday/Tuesday and there was no noise at all. On the plus side they did give us 2 free drink tickets Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel Aiken in Aiken, SC"
This hotel was built in the 1800, but has modern maintenance and is clean. Has an old fashion elevator with an operator. There is a garden bar with food and an inside bar of it's day. Very good place to stay if you are seeing Aiken.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Located in historic downtown Aiken with lots of restaurants, pubs, shops, etc. close by. We stayed in the old part of the hotel. Keep in mind this is an old historic building, maintenance, paint could be better although our room was clean and neat. Be aware that it can be noisy on a busy weekend with local live music in bars, but was not too bad for […] us and it was a busy weekend in town. Loved the old hand cranked elevator and friendly helpful staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
