Bijou rather than boutique. Lovely hotel but small rooms and lacking a little of the usual necessities for business travel, like an iron, but would stay here again.

Hotel situated next to China town. It is unique, comfortable. Staff are helpful. The rooms are quite small. Maybe because it is a modification from an old establishment, the sound of door closing from the next room is quite loud. You hope you have a good neighbor not coming and going so often. The hotel and rooms are tastefully appointed, and is very well situated on a quiet corner of Chinatown. Our room was quite small, with no real space to put our baggage without blocking off a desk and no space for even our toiletries in the bathroom. In general, nice hotel to stay if you have just a couple days of baggage and if you use the many locations around you to eat rather than the hotel itself. Note: due to the construction of the building, some of the rooms have no window. I don't mind that, but some people may. The staff were the most impressive part of the stay - from the front desk, to the doorman, to the restaurant - everyone is hospitable, helpful, and warm. Sometimes service in Singapore can actually be hit and miss - but not at the Scarlet. Many wonderful areas to explore/eat within walking distance, Chinatown, Club Street, hawker stalls. I always enjoy staying at the Scarlett hotel. The location is superb, both close to the CBD as well as Chinatown MRT station, Maxwell food market and the rooms are great. The staff are always pleasant and will help you with any request. After staying at several different hotels in Singapore this is still my favorite.

Scarlet is a stylish hotel in Chinatown - easy access to the shops, the MRT or a 15 minute walk to Clarke Quay. Hotel was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Bathroom was absolutely spotless. Room, though modest in size was bigger than the last places I've stayed. I'll definitely make it my base of operations.

The staff at the Scarlet is very friendly and accommodating, and the hotel itself has been done over very nicely. The location is convenient to the downtown area, two MRT stops, the Maxwell Food Center (great cheap food!), and it never took us longer than 3 minutes to catch a cab. There was never a need to call a cab and pay the $3 surcharge, though […] the staff was always happy to do so. The concierge was friendly and knowledgeable as well. However, the rooms, though decorated nicely, are INCREDIBLY tiny. There is room for a bed, about 18 inches of clearance on each side, and that's it. The room we stayed in had no window and no bedside clock which was extremely disorienting for someone trying to get over jet lag. The door to the bathroom is a sliding door with frosted glass, so if you have to get up in the middle of the night, there's no way to do it without waking up your spouse. There are only two outlets for overseas appliances which is nowhere near enough in a day in age where everyone has a cell phone, e-reader, and laptop (much less one per person). There is no bathtub, only a stand up shower that floods the bathroom every time you bathe. Anytime there is someone in the hallway outside the room (which is infrequent), you can hear the entire conversation. Though many of these things can be easily overlooked or dealt with, especially for people like us who spent such a small amount of time in the room, I don't believe the price justifies the quality of the room. Stayed at the Scarlet while in Singapore for a conference. The hotel has a very swanky feel to it and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. In fact, I arrived around 7:30AM due to my flight from the U.S. After a few hours of waiting on a room to become available, they informed me they had upgraded me to a different room so I could get into […] one sooner. This was great since by that point I was utterly exhausted after 24 hours of travel and little sleep on either overnight flight. My biggest criticisms were that hotel food was extraordinarily pricey; and my room had a mildewy smell which made it somewhat unpleasant to stay there. Very expensive breakfast, so I walked the 5 min. to Starbucks, next to the Tanjong Pagar MRT station. Two-minute walk to Maxwell Road food hawkers, a quite inexpensive and (apparently) authentic place for dinner or lunch. One block from the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Chinatown. My room was next-to-least expensive, and had no windows. It did, however, […] have a kind of indirect skylight through which sunlight came in during the day and restaurant voices from upstairs entered at night. The noise didn't keep me awake because I turned on the air conditioning fan. I appreciated the free internet in the room but it was wired only. WiFi was available in the lobby.
