"Close to Paso Robles"
Stayed there recently while visiting Paso Robles to see parents and Tony Bennett at new outdoor theatre. The Carlton was wonderful, nice, friendly and quiet. A perfect place to visit when in the area or passing through.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel near to Paso Robles wine areas"
Excellent clean rooms and value for the money. Hotel restaurants are closed currently.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wine Tasting and visiting old freinds"
We had a really great time at the Hotel. It was like stepping back in time, but the hotel had all the right things to have a wonderful visit!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Historic hotel in a quaint quiet town."
Third time I have stayed at the Carlton and other than a couple of minor discrepancies in the bath it was great It is very quiet and is a great location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hidden gem in a quiet small town"
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Carlton. The place was small but elegant, and centrally located. Plan on coming back with family.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
One of the best rooms we have ever stayed in!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to assist us with our visit. The hotel was completely rebuilt 8 years ago and the facilities are very nice. The carpet in our room had a few stains; one of the wash clothes in the bathroom also had a few stains (not dirty, stains). Overall it was nice and I would return.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great launch point for Hearst Castle"
I was able to book a room a day before for our family of five, two days before heading to Hearst Castle the next morning. Beautiful newly renovated (or remarkably well kept) hotel with a Victorian theme. We stayed in a large and comfortable 2 queen bed room. Very courteous staff. Ample parking in the area around the hotel. The recommended breakfast […] spot a close block away is Malibue Brew. It's an awesome little family run shop for a quick take out and is outstanding. "This is a Gem"
This is a beautiful Hotel. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms large and elegant. This is a jewel in Central California.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our room was quiet and spacious and the furnishings were beautiful! We enjoyed the luxurious bathroom with the jacuzzi tub. The bed and pillows were really comfortable, and we loved having the courtyard right off our room. Everything was very clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent hotel and staff but not much to do"
The hotel was beautiful, the room was very comfortable and the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. My only complaint would be that there isn't anything to do in the town. We were there on a Monday so that may have had something to do with it but very few things if anything was open. Even the restaurant in the hotel was closed and the space […] was for sale. If you're looking for peace and quiet you'll definitely get it in this town. I would recommend staying at this hotel but maybe on a weekend when everything is open. "Lovely Older Hotel in downtown Atascadero"
I love older hotels and love them even more when they are renovated in such a way that retains the character of the building while adding amenities like large bathrooms with jet tub and seperate shower. The room I stayed in was a 3rd floor balcony and it was quite spacious, quiet and a great king size bed and pillows. Cannot recommend highly enough […] . Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I enjoyed staying at the Carlton. It has been nicely remodeled. The bathrooms are gorgeous. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The only dated item was the TV. It was surprising to find a tube TV in a world of flatscreens but that was not too bad as it was.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Time for Hotel Impossible to save them!"
The restaurant is closed, the bakery is closed the only amenity was a mini coffee pot with 2 pods! The hotel is not maintained, the carpets are dirty, showers; full of mold, the walls and elevator's are banged up. Look beyond the lack of maintenance, someone put a lot of money into it, beautiful furniture and artwork. Hope they can save it, for now […] your money will be spent better somewhere else! "More than pleased"
I slept like a baby. At first when I got to my room and I saw that I had two windows looking out on the main street, I thought that the noise was going to keep me awake. But it actually is a very quiet and safe neighborhood. It was just a bummer that the restaurant was closed. But I would definitely stay their again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is very fancy room is big, lobby looks great and location is not bad. The room was not very comfortable and too fancy to may tasteGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was pleasantly surprised by the Carlton. The bathroom was incredible. Room large and beds comfortable. They just need a restaurant or some vending machines. My daughter and I really enjoyed it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our first time at the Carlton. We were amazed with the large room and its overall beauty and elegance. Definitely returning to this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good bathroom with everything, but TV is too old and small, plus didin't work. Coffee machine is new yet don't work either. Wee love the hotel and it's historic value, and really hope it will improve more!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was pleasant, close to expressway. quiet and clean room and clean common areas.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Carlton Hotel because it offered great prices and was close to the wine country. After a day of tasting, we retreated to Atascadero. The hotel staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Although the restaurant in the hotel has closed (hopefully temporarily), the Fig Good Food next tour offered outstanding...OUTSTANDING […] dishes and desserts. The people were very friendly. Two blocks down we found this bakery...Hush Artisan Bakery I think...and the pastries made us addicts. We wanted to try everything! Then there was the bru-house coffee place across the street that served excellent coffee and egg dishes. Our room provided space, the beds offered such comfortable places to sleep, and the bathrooms felt like we were in some posh hotel. We had a perfect experience at this hotel and would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Centrally located for antique stores in area"
Hotel room beautiful and very clean. Loved the jetted bath after being on our feet all day. Hair dryer not working properly upon arrival, and not replaced before we left.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything."
Paso Robles and wine tasting are close by and so are the many beaches. It was a great place to stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hidden gem nestled in the valley inbetween Hearst castle to LA. The hotel was classy and elegant. The room was spacious, and the bed is hard to get put of. The little town is cozy and leisure. Perfect place to stay after our Hearst castle visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"LOVELY hotel, great location, friendly staff"
We really loved this hotel. It was conveniently located just off the freeway in between Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo. The local flare is awesome (coffee shops, burger joints, brewery, local boutiques) and it's easy to walk around town. The hotel is historic looking and beautiful. Our room was awesome, giant, suite-like with a full size couch, chair […] with ottoman, desk, large closet, "wet bar", mini-fridge, keurig, and huge bathroom with jetted tub and steaming shower! Just wonderful. They need to make some maintenance improvements like fixing the toilet flusher. But otherwise, totally pleased with our stay. The staff was very friendly every time we came and went, and offered their assistance on many occasions. They sadly recently closed their restaurant so no meals on site or room service. But there is enough local food to enjoy that it did not really affect us. Oh, would also have enjoyed a pool and spa, but that's okay. They did have a gym, but we didn't check that out. Highly recommend. Great value for the price! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Beautiful hotel in a ok part of town!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We travel a lot, car plane and ships, this hotel is great, we give it 5 star rating in everything but hotel facilities only because it does not have a restaruant, (or bar). "Comfortable bed, but the area not so good"
The bed was very comfortable. The rooms are a bit "dated." The area has a lot of "for rent" signs and no good restaurants. Parking was weird. For the price, I would have expected a nicer area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Carlton Hotel is quite a gem. Not a typical small town B&B, this is a serious hotel. Nice thick walls so you fell like you're the only one staying there. The bathroom has marble everywhere and I'm not talking about the fake stuff. Real marble! I would recommend staying here over anywhere else on the central coast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
One of the draws for me was that they have a restaurant am bar and they were both gone???? It's in a bad neighborhood so hard to find anywhere to eat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely room, excellent amenitiesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just Passing Through"
Stopped at the Carlton on the way to San Francisco. Great location, right off the 101, but other than that not much else positive to say. Hotel was older, had some cobwebs on the ceiling and the air conditioner wasn't working well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent and Quiet"
Very comfortable bed, linens, robe, tub, etc.... We travel for business often and always make a point of stopping at this point because we know we will get an excellent nights sleep. Hard to match it anywhere.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was gorgeous! The hotel seems really well-maintained, entirely remodeled in early 2000's. It keeps tasteful period aesthetics but very modern. It's boutique hotel with great customer service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Luxury at a great price!"
Very enjoyable stay at the Carlton! Even though the room had many touches of luxury, we were allowed to have our therapy dog in the room with us. The hotel staff was very accommodating!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in charming Atascadero"

"a pleasant experience in the wine country"
This was a very comfortable well appointed historic property which made it a treat to stay in. It was recomended by family that stayed there the week prior on the way to a family reunion in Pt. Reyes Ca. It was a delite and I will definately recommend it to friends and look forward to a return to the Carlton.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Charming hotel, ultra comfortable bed!"
Stayed one night in this hotel on our recent trip to CA. The staff were accomodating, service was great, the hotel was extraordinarily clean and quiet with an old world kind of charm that you just don't get with the big chain hotels. The room was far nicer than expected for the price. I would most definitely stay here again and can't recommend it highly […] enough to other would be travelers, particularly adults looking for a quiet environment. Not a lot of child-friendly amenities but that's not what we were looking for, so it met our adult traveler needs perfectly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Sorry the restaurant is now closed. We had a very nice breakfast there last time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Public parking convenient. No food service or pool. Better location (not Atascadero)would rate 4 stars.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A beautiful spot in a strategic location"
Perfect location for the ideal wine tasting getaway, a definite ***** choice. Atascadero is 10 miles out of Paso Robles and 20 miles out of the Edna Valley and is definitely Old California in design and appeal, but you can get great deals at The Carlton - we got a nice upgrade to a patio-side room with our own door to the enclosed patio deck, and we […] had a great time next door at The Haven listening to live music on a Sunday night. Definitely would go back and hope to bring along friends next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel but staff is a little too laid back."
I called the front desk to complain about the WiFi service in room 214. The front desk person, Travis said that he would bring up a network cable to connect directly to their wired network. Nobody ever delivered the cable. Rooms and bathrooms were beautifully decorated but lacked a desk on which to set my laptop.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice renovated hotel near wine country"
Nice renovated hotel with friendly staff. Big rooms and baths. WiFi was weak in our room and, unfortunately, restaurant downstairs has closed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Can't wait to return."
We felt very pampered during our visit. The staff went our of their way to be helpful. The room was very clean, we did not hear a peep from any other guests.Genuine Expedia guest review
"excellent location to visit the wine country"
My original plans were to stay for one night and go on paso robles. However loved the hotel so much we decided to stay one more night.the only the downside they had a restaurant downsrairs and its now closed. But overall exceeded my expectations for a great price top notch good location quick access to 101.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Loved everything about it. Excellent value and my 13 year old son even enjoyed it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel located in center of city"
Hotel was clean and staff was friendly, located near restaurants some were in walking distance. There is no longer a restaurant and lounge attached to the bar that was the only disappointment.Genuine Expedia guest review
