Super 8 Long Island City, LGA Hotel - Astoria

My family & I used this hotel & it was a great location close to everything , great restaurants and very reasonable .. We took a cab do some sight seeing & shopping and it was worth every penny . This hotel was very clean and the front desk staff where very accomidating highly advise!!!!

This hotel wasn't great. I booked two nights with them and after the first night the guy at the front desk tries to tell me I only booked one night. I insisted I booked two. He re checked his computer to find I was right. Otherwise it was good. Location was good.

This place was ok. It's a motel to me. If you want luxury this is not it but if u need a clean safe place to sleep... And leave your stuff and this place is cool. Not a place for families with kids... I wouldn't take my kids here.

I chose this hotel because it's cheaper than staying in Manhattan, and it's located on the n-q-r line. Neighborhood is not stellar, but it's okay. There are lots of shops and restaurants right by the metro, but the neighborhood kind of empties out a few blocks before the hotel. This is a quite old and fairly uncomfortable establishments, situated in a very dark spot in Long Island. It's hard to find and there's nothing around it. The neighborhood is perhaps sufficiently safe. However, you will be forced to walk in the dark for a few blocks before reaching groceries and fast-food establishment. The personnel was prompt in responding to our need, however it was cold and distant and mostly worried to take care of homeless people that at night-time look for accommodation or free food. They asked me repeatedly if I needed housekeeping services, and were accommodating when I asked for a quiet room on a top floor. The place is only 10 minutes away from Manhattan by taxi or subway. Shady neighborhood and a bit creepy. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The carpet was wet and the hallways were being painted so they were scraping door jams at 7 in the morning. The room was good any big enought for us. I liked it that u can take the coffe to the room. The people there were very nice and willing to help. The only down side is the walk from the train to the motel about 7 minutes walk. I was there in winter so the walk was harder.

The hotel is old, but it is kept clean. The staff was very helpful with giving my wife and I directions to get places. The reason we stayed here was that the hotel provided easy access to the N and Q trains to get into Manhatten and we saved a few hundred dollars a night by staying here instead of across the river.

The motel is hard to find by car. We got lost and took several hours to find it. GPS for some reason useless in NYC. The staff very corteous and nice. Pricey for a Super 8 but...is NYC. The motel is a block from the Bus stop and block and half from subway. We used the subway for everything. Take a picture with your camera of the subway map in case get […] lost and need to get back to the motel. Don't forget, the "N" train yellow. (but again there are 2 N trains) for the same area. One will take you to the motel, the other will get you 20 blocks away.(In the same street) Parking seems secure. Not the best neighborhood but we never got or saw any problems during our stay. Rooms very small compared with other Super 8s but we never spend much time in the motel but sleeping and shower. Room had microwave and refrigerator which was a big plus to cool our water bottles. Don't expect much for breakfast, but In your way to the subway there are places to eat, ATMs, pharmacy, supermarket etc. We didn't need to use the car to go any place. I expected more for the price. The hotel is in Astoria, which is a great place to stay in Queens. The hotel itself is situated opposite a school, with a tyre garage on one side and a new hotel being built on the other. We were woken around 6:30am to a pile driver which shook the entire building. The room was a reasonable size but poorly laid out so space was limited. A fridge, coffee maker and microwave were supplied. The shower was pretty pathetic, it got to a tepid heat everyday. My friend was 2 doors down and he had a red hot shower and bath most days. Breakfast was pathetic. A coffee machine, single choice of cereal and the odd muffin if you were lucky. This is served in the front reception which is just not big enough. It left people struggling. Stayed a pleasant week in this hotel. Nice room, bathroom, internet in the room and helpful staff. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the subway directly to Manhattan so this is a good alternative to expensive hotels in the city. Especially recommended for young couples and students. There are renovations going on but I had no problems.

The whole hotel is in the middle of major renovations. Our room (219) is one of the newly renovated ones. My only complaint is that the bathtub drain is too slow - and that's with showers only, no tub baths. Breakfast is uninspired but sustaining: Cheerios or Raisin Bran, 2% milk, very small muffins or other danish-y pastries, apple and orange juices, […] coffee, fresh apples and oranges. It's included, so there's no complaint. Their choice of free newspaper is the New York Post; not what I'd buy, but not the worst available. The elevated subway is a few blocks walk away. The car was undisturbed in the parking lot behind the motel. Costco is within walking distance. Highway access is easy. Best bet for seeing the sights is to forget the car and use the subway.
