"Lovely stay in Grand Haven"
Comfortable spacious room, gracious hosts, lots of good tips on local restaurants and sightseeing. Just what you hope for from a good B&B.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming with a little bump or two."
Boyden House is lovely surrounded by glorious gardens. We managed to get the last room available. It was very hot and humid that day and the a/c worked but not to the extent I prefer. Another small bump was the floor was level as often happens in old houses. Most people wouldn't notice but I have balance issues. the front staircase is a beautiful curved […] wood with very narrow steps. Able footed people enough! As we were taking the ferry the next morning we missed out on the breakfast with other guests. Instead our breakfast was brought to the guest kitchen. A little re-heating and we were set with a very nice meal. Bottom line, we will return planning far enough ahead to have a choice of rooms and allow enough time to share the breakfast, the porch and the town. BTW lovely dinner at the Kirby Grill within walking distance. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful B&B - a cut above!"
The inn is beautifully restored, and also fully equipped with modern conveniences. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the owners were helpful and nice people. In a quiet neighborhood, a nice walk to tiwn or the beach. It was perfect!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful and spacious B&B"

This charming B&B is located in a beautiful town, on a lovely street and with exceptional hospitality. The room was spacious and elegant and the wine soufflé for breakfast was certainly memorable! Even though we only spent one night, our memory of the sunset while enjoying the boardwalk, and the walk through the neighborhood and downtown, will not be forgotten.
"quaint and quiet"

My husband and I have been in Grand Haven many times. We had a wonderful time at the Boyden House. The woodwork and architectural detail were stunning. We stayed in the executive suite. It was a large, clean and cozy room with a fireplace and a chaise lounge. Being a neat freak, the room was clean as a whistle. The breakfasts and the baked oatmeal were delicious. Several items to choose from. The gentleman innkeeper was very polite and friendly without being intrusive. I would highly recommend this establishment.
"Not customer service oriented"

Nice old home in a nice location. The staff seem to run the Inn to their convenience and not the guests. There is nobody to meet you at check-in; breakfast is offered ONLY 9 - 9:30 and (Breakfast is really just average).

I thought this place was perfect. I am super picky and have high expectations, but Boyden House was better than expected in a lot of ways. Location is super, we were upgraded to a bigger room once we arrived for no extra charge (they were not fully booked), everything about the room and the house itself was charming. Clean, free wifi, friendly but not intrusive hosts, and plenty of free parking. Wish we could've stayed longer. The breakfast was amazing - hot souffles and excellent (strong) coffee. We walked to dinner at the Grand and back and down to the water. I stayed the following night in the Harbor House Inn (long story as to why, but it gave me the opportunity to do a direct comparison). The HHI pales by comparison and was really disappointing. Stay at the Boyden House. You'll want to return and stay even longer. I do.

I traveled a lot this summer and stayed in various B&Bs in Michigan. Boyden House was definitely the best. The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming. Our room was very comfortable and beautiful. Breakfasts were delicious and healthy; the oatmeal was my favorite! The inn is conveniently located, close to the downtown and the bike path that goes to Holland. It is well worth the price!
"Comfortable relaxation in venerable mansion"

We were visiting Grand Haven for a large wedding and booked the rooms over the carriage house, a suite, really. Large comfortable rooms and a nice mix of antique and modern furnishings and art. Others in the party stayed in the main house, and everyone seemed to be very happy. Finally, everyone who stays should try Mr. Tony's breakfast. Baked french toast and a wonderful baked oats dish were offered (along with great coffee and huge bowl of fresh fruit). It was not inexpensive but well worth the cost. We will definitely stay here again.
"Lovely and Romantic Getaway"

Surprised my husband with a romantic getaway for our 27th wedding anniversary ~ chose Boyden House because I wanted something different than a hotel. Found Boyden House via a website listing bed & breakfasts in the Grand Haven area and discovered there was a promotion going on as it was off-season. Called to make the reservation and was delighted to find out that the honeymoon suite was available. We were very happy with the room ~ private entrance and a small private balcony (could not use it as it was winter, but it was a nice touch), loveseat in front of an electric fireplace (now I want one for our master bedroom), comfy queen size bed, and a fabulous bathroom with a huge tub (candles were supplied and we took advantage of that special touch). Owners friendly, but not intrusive. Nice breakfast with a good selection of items (our choices included baked oatmeal with dried cherries and pistachios, vanilla yogurt with assorted toppings, french toast bake made with croissants, sausages etc.). My only concern is that breakfast is offered for a very limited time and would encourage perhaps 90 minute window of time). Would we go back? Most definitely! Great location (close to everything, yet private), delicious food, and a romantic room for couple time . . . a trifecta for couples :-)

We had such a wonderful stay here, such amazing rooms and the Jacuzzi was wonderful!! We loved the porch that was connected to the room.....Breakfast in bed was so nice!! Thanks Tony! We loved the snacks in the kitchen upstairs.... (We probably took a few too many!) :)....Thanks again for the lovely stay, we will DEF. be back again very soon!! Never have been to a B&B that was that nice before, also, the restaurant 22 Below was awesome too!
My husband and I needed a relaxing getaway and Boyden House hit the spot. Our room was clean, comfortable and the house itself was very cool and well maintained. Our bed was so comfy, the location was close to downtown Grand Haven, and the breakfast was so delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and will be back :)
"From an English perspective - disappointed"

The girl who greeted us was very friendly. We were very surprised at breakfast being only available between 9 & 9.30am - very prescriptive. We were in the Safari Den which was a nice big room with excellent comfy bed BUT we had understood there was a bath in the en suite (described on website as "bath with shower") - probably lost in translation - think they should say "bathroom with shower". Location very good for town amenities. Lovely outside verandas. Breakfast a disappointment for us. First day souffle (with white wine & cream), second day french toast, third day quiche and fourth day back to souffle - not to the English palette at breakfast and only alternative cold hard boiled eggs and chipolata sausages (last day reheated). Would have appreciated choice of hot eggs and bacon. We felt it was over-priced as it cost more than our stays in hotels in Chicago and Grand Rapids prior to our Boyden House experience. We would have appreciated tea & coffee making facilities in the room. We never found creamer or milk in the shared kitchen. Unfortunately we also had to endure three nights of being woken up by smoke alarms malfunctioning!!
