Hotel Miramar - Puerto de la Cruz

Very friendly staff. Nice hotel. No wireless. A little chilly for an unexpectedly cold night as you don't expect most hotels at that latitude to have heat in the rooms! Restaurants and downtown area within short walking distance, though at night had to walk through lovely but not very well lit gardens, so I wouldn't stay there alone.

We choose this hotel as it says it has a car park. The car park is TINY with only 10 spaces that are difficult to fit into. The spaces are not marked and it seems that people just park as best as they can. We arrived to find the car park full but did manage to get a space on the other days. At no point did reception ask for our car details so we assume […] that anyone can park there. Checking In took an age. Reception took a long time to find a record of our booking and then insisted on keeping our passports for two hours. We found all the staff to be surly and unresponsive. They take no pride in running a hotel and never smile. Drinks at dinner were almost thrown at us. The food was dire. We were not expecting amazing cooking but they couldn't even get breakfast right. The tea and coffee was unpalatable. The cooked breakfast items looked unrecognisable. I tried the Cornflakes but these were stale. The croissants were the safest bet but these were burnt on one morning. The juice was watered down to such an extent that it tasted worst than cheap squash. We tried dinner once. The food was only just warm. The dining area is reasonable but the staff seem to go out of their way to make dining an unpleasant experience. We had a fantastic time in Tenerife but I wouldn't recommend Hotel Miramar. Puerto de la Cruz was our final stop and I wouldn't recommend it either. We were very pleased with our stay and it was an excellent place to be for peace and quiet. The hotel is rather faded but very spacious. The map location is deceptive not showing the hotel is half way up a steep hill. However, the setting is very pleasant surrounded by lovely gardens and because of its high position, as the hotel name suggests, has beautiful views. The hotel itself afforded good clean accommodation. The staff at reception helpful and professional but not particularly […] friendly. A smile doesn't cost anything and goes a long way to making the customer feel welcome. The breakfast and evening meal were buffet and had a good selection of well cooked food. Could have done with a bigger selection of vegetables but the fresh salad selection more than made up for this. The clientel appeared to be 90% over 60s. This could just be due to the time of year. Discovered that a number of guests (retired) seemed to be on a multi-week arrangement for the Winter months. Hence the entertainment was older ballroom type dance tunes. Use of the computer on a coin operated basis but more expensive that I have experienced in other hotels on the island. The swimming pool was very nice and well maintained, as were the crazy golf, tennis courts etc. Would think twice about going back again as have stayed in other hotels in the town in better locations and better value for money. The hotel is situated in the Taoro parque area, which is very quiet, with little traffic and surrounded with tropical vegetation, near a large park. There are luxury four-star hotels nearby. It's not cheapest, it's not greatest, but it is quite good place. I am satisfied, I was looking for a quiet place near to Puerto de la Cruz, with free parking space and easy driving in and out and with a filling breakfast and dinner. It's on a hill just on the fringes of the city, so it's quiet. 90% of guests are German and English pensioners and […] they keep quiet, no TVs in the rooms which was great. Neighbourhood? Nice park, with a few small waterfalls near by, some paths among the palm trees. Small parking space in front of the hotel and additional free parking near by. We had 2 balconies - one with the sea view and one with sea + Teide. Entertainment? Well, there was something 2 days a week and if I was at least 70 years old I would probably like it. I'm not. But it was quiet and it didn't disturb my sleep. Swimming pool - I didn't use it, can't comment on it. The worst part - service and hidden charges when on half-board. During breakfast tea, coffee and juice are available for free. During dinner it's paid extra and you have to wait for a waiter who "serves" you, sometimes quite long. I would expect that if I'm paying for HB then drinks should be included both in the morning and in the evening. Wine was OK Food is barely varied, every day almost the same. But it's filling - you always get meat, bread, cheese, eggs, fruits, cereal etc. It's not great, but we were never hungry. Everything was clean. Basic, but nice hotel in superb surroundings in the Taoro park above the city. Quiet location, most of the rooms have sea views, and the breakfast is all right. The average customer base is couples aged 50+; and although we are in our thirties with my wife, really appreciated the peacefulness and calm atmosphere. The pool is not big but it's in nice […] surroundings with sea views. The room furnishings are basic, but adequate. Overall, I recommend it, as it's really good value for money. there are many good things about this hotel. Although slightly old-fashioned (no hair-dryer/fridge or tea-coffee facilities) it's in a beautiful setting. An attractive (if rather tough) walk up from town through the lovely parque taoro, the view from our balcony more than made up for any lack of faclities. The hotel is well equipped with a nice pool […] and outside bar, sauna, jacuzzi, table tennis, crazy golf, tennis and tv room. The gardens are well-presented with lots of those lovely palm trees. The only real negative that we could not ignore is the man that serves in the restaurant. We only had B&B so were only in there in the morning but he was incredibly rude. We would come in and he would bark at us to sit at a specific table (for no reason we could discern, whilst everybody else sat where they liked) we would get plates and cups, go to the bar for food, come back and he would have replaced all our crockery etc with different ones which had been layed properly. He was very aggressive and unpleasant. All the other staff however were lovely. Puerto de la Cruz was nice. Lovely old buildings and lots of nice cafes and boutiques. However for the most part full of gruff and wrinkly german/english tourists with a major lack of class ( most refusing to even try and speak spanish) and clamouring to get into a packed macdonalds on the seafront. On the whole i wouldn't go back, but not because of the hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, mostly because of the room and glorius view! Read more

Hotel ligger tæt gåafstand til gamle del af Puerto de la Cruz, havnen osv.. Ligger højt over byen med smuk udsigt til hele området. - også Teide. Gåturen er gennem meget smuk park for at komme til byen fra hotel. Hotellet er 'slidt, men pænt og med utrolig rar atmosfære, og meget venlig betjening. Hotel vi vil vende tilbage til.

Selve hotellet var et af ældre dato, men pænt vedligeholdt. Vi tog opholdet med halvpension, kvaliteten af pensionen var ok - meget inspireret af de mange tyske turister, men den var god at have i baghånden når vi kom sent hjem. Dieses Hotel liegt auf einer Anhöhe neben dem Kongresszentrum in Puerto de la Cruz. Diese zurückgezogene Lage macht es zu einem kleinem Schmuckstück in der Nähe zum Taoro Park. We stayed for christmas at Hotel Miramar in 2011. The place is very well maintained and perfectly clean, but the atmosphere with staff and visitors were zero. Not just because the staff didn't understand a single word of english, but because they didn't want to care about the guests, they just didn't try at all to give a good service. Min kæreste og jeg var rigtig glade for opholdet på Hotel Miramar. Personalet var venligt og virkelig med til at gøre ferien endnu bedre og belliggenheden helt perfekt. Omgivelserne er smukke med Taoro Parque lige ved siden af, der emmer af lokalt liv og med El Teide i baggrunden. Centrum er en kort gåtur væk, ned gennem en fin have.

Situation parfaite au cœur du Parque du Taoro avec vue mer ou Teide. Attention éviter les chambres x09 qui sont contre la cage d'ascenseur et donc bruyantes. Petit déjeuner buffet très complet. Le diner est en revanche très quelconque.

Néanmoins situation dans un parc au calme et on est en ville en 15-20 minutes à pied (environ 300 marches à remonter au retour pour la digestion). Ett hotell med gammal stil från 60-talet. Allt kändes ganska gammalt, såväl sängar som inredning, filtar och heltäckningsmatta. Frukosten var helt ok, fet mat och mycket vitt bröd, sur serveringspersonal. Bra tillmötesgående reception som var duktiga på engelska och hjälpte till m uthyrning av bil. På nåt sätt var hotellet lite charmigt och hotellets […] absoluta fördel är utsikten över staden och havet, både från hotellrummet och matsalen. Fin pool och trädgård.
