"Convenient Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 19, 2013
The location of this hotel was just right for folks who don't want to be right in the middle of the action. Just a 2/3 block walk takes you where most of the shops, bars, cafes are. Also, you couldn't beat the nice view of the new Harpa Concert hall all lit up every night across from the hotel. Size wise, the room was pretty standard for European rooms I've stayed in before. As mentioned in other reviews, the bathroom will get wet after a shower. There also isn't storage for your clothes so put a sweater on over that wrinkled shirt you just pulled out of your suitcase. They gave my wife and I a room on the 1st floor. It was incredibly loud in the mornings with slamming doors and the clip clop of heels and dress shoes. Request a room on a higher floor. The front desk service couldn't have been better. They helped with car rental, restaurant info & airport shuttle and were generally pleasant and friendly. I would stay here again, but request a different floor to stay on.

"I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN!!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 6, 2013
The room was great. We had 3 adult women staying here. Our room had 2 twin beds & a futon. It had a kitchen w/all the necessities. There is not much privacy as it is all 1 big room (sleep area, futon/tv area, and kitchen) but it was clean. Bathroom was clean. In the shower you pull a curtain around you. The floor of the bathroom is also the floor of the shower so you can't really have more than 1 person in the bathroom (like brushing teeth while someone showers). This is not the hotel's fault as it's everywhere in Iceland, the water tastes & smells like sulfur. Be prepared for that. The staff wasn't overly friendly but they weren't unfriendly. After spending a couple days there we decided it is just their culture. Another thing we loved is they have storage. We arrived in Iceland prior to check-in time & the room was not ready so we were able to use a large closet type locker to store our luggage in while we went & had breakfast & walked around. Then came back & checked in. The main doors are locked. You have to ring a bell to be let in originally but they give you the code to get in once you've checked in. They have a computer w/printer available to use in their "lobby" area. I will definitely recommend to everyone & anyone. The tourist companies will pick you up at the hotel or you can just walk down to the one we used. Max 10 min walk. We walked to the church, took 10 min. We paid a total of $193.00 w/tax for 2 nights. We split it 3 ways so really I paid $64! Awesome deal!
"excellent location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 6, 2013
A very great place to stay for a good price. We had the best location possible as it was right in the city center and walking distance to everything. It's also right next to one of the major tour companies, a bus station, and in the center of all the night life. Apparently there is more than one location, and the other location may not be as convenient (according to some reviews). The only major problems were that they charged as an early check-in fee at 9am (check-in at 3pm) despite the room already being clean and free and the wifi wasn't working in our room most of our stay.

Takes about 25 minutes extreme brisk walk through walkway and bridges to city center. Shuttle service staff polite but shuttle not at all frequent enough to be convenient. 2 times (9:30, 11:45) in the morning and 3 times in the evening (18:15, 19:15, 22:00) Pool opening hours are terrible. 10am to 2pm and reopen at 4pm and close again at 7:30pm. Excellent beds, early check in, fast internet, free parking. Hotel Loftleidir is a perfect base to explore Iceland. The hotel has everything a modest traveler may need. "Not a competitive hotel in this market"
It's just too easy to find a better room with better amenities (charging for wifi? is this a Fairfield Inn?), better design, better service, and better location for the same - or better - price. So, barring a room shortage, I can't imagine staying here again - it's only the second hotel I've ever tried to check out of early in my life. One staff member […] was quite helpful (he believed my complaint of no electricity in the room - the first desk person did not - and found the blown breaker), but the rest varied from comically brusque to dismissive to misinformational. Loftleider is not awful, but as introductions to Iceland go, the country deserves much better than this, and in most other places in Reykjavik, it gets much better than this. Room as described except for the bed formation. We requested a room with a Queen bed, but we found only 2 twin beds in the room. We had to move the beds together ourselves. "Value for Money but could Improve Immensely"
The hotel is a 10-minute walk to the BSI bus station and a short inexpensive cab ride to downtown Reykjavik (if you want to walk it is about 20-minutes through a residential area). It is in a safe neighborhood and walking around alone is fine. The downside is that there are no nearby restaurants (except for the hotel restaurant which charges an arm […] and a leg). The hotel was nice,. The first room we were put in had a weird noise coming from the vents. We asked to be moved to we could sleep and it was no problem of the hotel. Very nice hotel with friendly staff. We chose the hotel because it is the only one on Iceland with a swimmingpool. And we have kids that love to go swimming. "Enjoy the walk to city & the spa downstairs!"
I stayed in this hotel at the beginning and end of a tour around Iceland. On arrival the first time the staff were cold and not very approachable. I booked through Expedia and upgraded to an Artist room however they put me in a standard room and it seemed to be an inconvenience to the female receptionist to move me. The nighttime recpetionists (male) […] were all very friendly and helpful as were the bar staff. The rooms was uncluttered and clean. The spa downstairs was lovely. The hotel is a walk from the city centre but it is only about 20mins. And is right next to the Pearl. Even though it is next to the domestic airport, and I had a room overlooking the run way, I was not disturbed by any aircraft sound. In my room I had a tea/coffee tray but only powdered creamer so take your own milk! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"4 nights September 2012"
Checked in after an all night flight. The room seemed quite small but I wrote it off to European sizing and we went out to see Reykjavik. When we returned I checked my reservation. Family size deluxe. As this was smaller then many cruise ship rooms I went down to the desk. I showed her my reservation. She replied, "but that is a very big room, meant […] for families". Looked on her computer then looked at me and said " and how many are in your party?". I replied "2" and hoped for another comment, she changed tactics, swicthed my room and gave us a box of something from the spa. The new room was much bigger, at least 4 times the size. Very nice rooms. I don't expect to have to explain to the front desk why I deserve to get the room I actually booked. Overall the hotel was very nice, and positioned well if you have a car. You can get around very easily from that location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Convenient and comfortable but far from citycenter"
Our stay at the hotel was overall satisfactory. Considering our visit was in the winter, the distance from the citycenter was a little inconvenient. However, frequent shuttle buses ensured that we were not disconnected. Our main reason for staying at the Natura was the heated pool and sauna, both of which were awesome. Don't forget to carry your costumes! The […] hotel is well connected to the airport, and the travel desk ensures that you are able to book whatever tour you want to go to. I have stayed at this hotel several times. It was formerly called the Loftleidir, but is now called Reykjavik Natura, and some renovations have been done (and are still going on). "Good hotel shame about the location."
The hotel was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable. Only downside was the location which was quite far from Reykjavik town centre. it was about a 20/25 minute walk. "Icelandair Hotel Loftleidir under reconstruction"
the hotel is under reconstruction. Reception was a building site. The pool/sauna and exercise room were closed for reconstruction and dining room was in a cobbled together conference room. Totally unacceptable. Not much more to say other than the rooms were utilitarian..Genuine Expedia guest review
"Relaxing Loftleider"
We chose this hotel because of previous recommendations in reviews and because it had its own indoor pool - we used this several times to relax in after long weary days sightseeing. At all times the various staff in the hotel were courteous and informative. We felt valued as guests. We stayed in a luxury room and believe the 'extras' well worth the […] money we paid. The shuttle bus suited us to get into Reykjavik but we rarely used it to get back as the return times were too close to the time we had arrived in the city. This said, we enjoyed the walk back to the hotel. The Loftleider is close to the Perlan and the Bus Terminal and all the tour operators and the airport buses stop at the hotel. This we found a huge advantage. Our room was made up and cleaned each day to a high standard and was spacious being a luxury room. My son liked being near the Falcon Football team stadium and often went over in the evening to the Astro turf and always invited to join in the football training. I like being a walk away from all the main attractions without being right on top of them. I would definitely stay at the Lofteider again. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable 10 nights there with no complaints at all. Thanks to the special Story Telling nights on Thursdays we also gained an insight into Icelandic literature - we were able to attend two - very entertaining. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent stay"
I stayed for 5 nights at this hotel, which I chosel based on an excellent price available from Expedia and got excellent value for my money. It is not downtown, but I did not find the location to be inconvenient as all the tours will pick you up at your hotel anyways (TIP: Try NetBus and GoEcco Tours). It's a nice location with great biking and walking […] trails right there. I never heard any noise from the regional airport next door. I enjoyed walking to the Pearl restaurant within easy distance of the hotel - great views. The on site tour desk (little office in the lobby) was a great feature that not all hotels have. My room was well maintained and perfectly cleaned every day. I was never disturbed if I put out my do not disturb sign (which not all hotels respect.. so I appreciated that!). The only negative was my check in. The employees at the desk seemed more interested in continuing their conversation with each other than helping me. I did not feel particularly welcomed, nor were any features of the hotel explained to me. I may be young (many people think I look like a teenager.. but I am actually 27), but I still deserve the same respect as anyone else. I later witnessed other customers checking in and saw they got much better service.. and all my other interactions were much more positive... so I will brush it off as an exception, rather than typical treatment. Pool hours were limited and I never did get an opportunity to take advantage of it... wish it was open later. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable and ideal base"
Looking at the other hotels available in Reykjavic the airport hotel was pretty good. From the front it looked old but inside was very comfortable. Room was nice albeit very hot, there didn't seem to be any thermostat. Bed was nice, there is basic tv with 3 English channels, shower was good! Don't let the location put you off, yes it is a fair distance […] into town (20 minute walk) but there is a frequent and free shuttle bus available. The walk back is a good way to burn off the evening meal! The airport next door isn't at all noisy and there is a good view of the runways for plane geeks. There is a very good excursion booking facility in the hotel. Breakfast buffet was good and at Icelandic prices pretty reasonable. One of the only hotels that has a car park, useful for hire cars. It's location out of town (and near the bus terminal) makes it an ideal base for excursions out of Reyjkavi. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good Hotel, Friendly Staff"
Everything about the hotel was pristine, clean, modern and very well-presented. The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke perfect English. There are a lot of helpful little extras at the hotel, e.g. cashpoint, transport information, excursion booking office, gift shop. The room was large with a big window allowing a lot of light in, and the bathroom […] was of a good standard and spotless - nice strong shower! The one niggle we had is that we booked a queen bed and ended up getting two singles pushed together - not very comfortable. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the main drag of Reykjavik, which was fine for me. It is very close to the BSI Bus Terminal (5 minute walk max) which makes it very convenient for excursions. "Good Starting Point for Touring Reykjavik"
When I arrived in my room, despite being a non-smoking hotel it smell heavily of smoke. I asked for a new room and the front-desk staff were very accomodating and even made sure to give me a new room on the same floor so I didn't have to move my things very far. My new room was great, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is a little ways outside […] of central Reykjavik, but I didn't mind walking in to town, which only took about 25 minutes, and there are very good paths the whole way. There is also a shuttle that will take you into town in the morning, and returns at various times later in the day, though I didn't find the times very convenient. The restaurant in the hotel seemed overpriced, or maybe it's just that food is quite expensive in Iceland. The food was ok, but certainly nothing special. This seems to be a well known hotel in the city & a great place to take tours from, it's very close to the bus terminal where all tours depart from, but they will all pick you up and drop you off at the hotel as well. Overall it was a comfortable place to stay at a great price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Our stay at Loftleidir was comfortable. The Hotel is well maintained if slightly dated in decor. It had some very nice touches like, a weekly bedtime story telling by one of Iceland's popular author and TV host with cookies and hot chocolate, an inhouse travel and tours booking agent, cycles for hire and a decent restaurant. It is conveniently located […] with bus station, car hire and domestic airport within walking distance. It is close to a popular beach and thermal pool, saga museum, perlan and the city centre is a 15-20 minutes walk away. The staff are friendly and helpful. The biggest draw for me was that the hotel is situated adjacent to Reykjavik domestic airport with loads of private, general and feeder traffic - a veritable feast for the aviation enthusiast. "My favourite Reykjavik hotel"
I have stayed here four times now, and will make this my first choice next time I go to Reykjavik, too. Choosing the Natura for our first ever stay in Reykjavik, we had only web descriptions to judge from, and the surprisingly low cost when booking some months in advance made us almost anxious that we were being fooled. But not at all; the room was everything we had hoped it to be, the staff very friendly and helpful, the breafast tasty and plentiful, […] and then the spa made a very pleasant bonus. The location on the outskirts of Reykjavik ment we had a nice walk to town every day, on clarely marked footpaths anlongside the main road - all in fresh Icelandic air. Those few times we felt too lazy, the hotel's free shuttle bus service came in handy. Our only agony was that the wi-fi network did not work properly in our room (in the far end of one wing) - but on the whole we really enjoyed Natura and hope to come back in the near future.
