"Floor plan was poorly executed."
Great access to Asian food. but room was not to my expectation for a suite.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I read really bad reviews about this hotel, but I didnt want to spend much money on my stay. Its not fancy, but it has, fridge, microwave, vending machine....for me it was great! The staff was very friendly, I had a very early check in with no charges! The room is ok, the shower is ok...complaints at all!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A place to sleep close to downtown"
It was a cheap and clean place to rest that didn't break the budget. If you need more, be willing to spend a whole lot more money.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel for short visit in Chicago"
We played in Chicago three and a half day, and lived there for three nights. The first night we cannot find the hot water in the room, and second day we figured out there is one hot water machine in the lobby. The overall environment is good, but not perfect due to a little noise, which disturbs my girl a little bit. Anyway, a suite w/ two rooms around […] a little more than one big green note definitely worth. During the sight seeing in Chicago, the only unpleasant thing related to this hotel is the Metro red line is shut down for construction between Chinatown and Roosevelt station. And it will be last for 5 months according to the notice. So if you plan a visit to Chicago, and hate transfer public transit all the time, you may consider a hotel locating nearer than Chinatown. Anyway, based on the cleanness and overall comfort, this Chinatown Hotel worth every penny. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Good location. Facilities ar fine for the price paidGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beware there is no elevator"
I stayed there for 4 nights with my parents. First up, the hotel is really nice and cheap, considering the location, right at the heart of China Town! Yes, it was very cheap and even though I had to pay $15 extra for car parking every night at the parking lot, I was okay with it. However, I only give 3 stars to the hotel, as they don't have any elevators. […] Wish someone had mentioned that in their review. We had to stay on the 4th floor and had to drag all our luggage up the stairs and this was particularly difficult for my mom. For young guys like me, looking for a good deal, this is a really good stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

it's nice in this price to find a hotel that's so close to downtown chicago.Genuine Expedia guest review
"DO NOT RECOMMEND !!"
if you are budget travelers, it would be good to access downtown easily. Otherwise, very dirty, stink, awful, dangerous. You can hear any noise from the next door. Drinking water for customer was just tap water, not filter water. Room and facility are very different from pictures on the web. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALLGenuine Expedia guest review

"The cheapest I found close to the Loop"
Was very good given I was traveling for business purposes and I only needed a place to crash at night, cheap and close to the center. Best way to travel is by the Red Line, the Cermak-Chinatown station is like 100m away from the hotel and it drops you right on State avenue (after 5 stations) where there're plenty of shops and places to visit. Cabs don't […] really go into Chinatown unless they're dropping off customers, so there're very slim chances to grab one from the street, even if throughout the downtown that's the quickest way to grab one. Calling a cab from the hotel's reception is going to take like 30min in the offpeak, during weekend nights better not rely at all on the cab for going out. No issues of coming in via taxis and it's like a 15$ with the tip from the downtown. Take care if traveling after 19 May 2013 for the upcoming 5 months there're reparations undergoing on the Red Line. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, everything else ok"
Great location, very close to subway station and many restaurants nearby, everything else ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"If you want to same money,"
this is a good hotel to stay. If you want to stay at a clean hotel with decent service, maybe this is not. Please beware. The WiFi signal is weak and the network is not encrypted. The location is best: near metro station, bus station, McCormick Place, etc. And one more: Check-in starts from 3pm, so please don't go there before 3pm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Do not stay here!"
Read the reviews! Believe all of the negative comments! A friend needed to stay here as someone else booked it for her & we joined in. Mistake. Unsafe neighborhood, dumpy, dirty, broken, no free parking as told. If I could get my money back I would. If we could have made other arrangements when we arrived, I would have done that. Even for this price, […] it was unacceptable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice neighborhood, nice people, room falling apart"
While in a fantastic, vibrant neighborhood close to the El train downtown, numerous things were falling apart. There was painting equipment strewn about the hallway. The front doorknob to the room was at an odd angle, the bathroom doorknob was loose, and the toilet flush handle came off in my hand. If I was not there for only one night, I would have […] switched hotels for the rest of my stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great location and price for what we wanted, hotel is not the Hilton, but we had clean sheets and hot water. And it is IN China town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not for leisure"
What can I not say about this hotel? Check in was easy. No elevator, if you have knee or back problems, don't stay here! If you are just looking for a place to sleep or shower this is a nice cheap option. The noise level is much lower than downtown. Surrounding area (Chinatown) has some amazing restaurants and boutiques. Very easy to navigate throughout […] the city via red line or CTA buses. Good luck getting a cabby to find it, you'll end up a street over at the firestation. You can tell they do their basic cleaning of linens, however they don't go much beyond that, I found a beer bottle and caps under the bed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Remember it Jake... it's Chinatown!"
This is a very inexpensive hotel. That should be at the forefront of everybody's mind when they consider staying here. This is not the Drake. This is not the Palmer House. But, this is a great hotel. I was in town for a conference at McCormick Place and could not have asked for a better location. Chinatown is amazing, tons of great restaurants and bakeries. […] Easy (and totally safe!) walk between McCormick Place and the Chinatown Hotel. Very near the el. The rooms are small, the amenities are minimal, but the staff is very friendly and gracious, the hotel is clean, and the rooms get the job done. I would plan to stay here nearly every single time I'm in Chicago. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is not new but is clean and adequate for a place to stay. Was attending a convention near the lake and found the location to be about a 15 minute walking distance. Also the commuter rail was only about a five minute walk. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Basic hotel, no frills"
This hotel is regularly cleaned to a low standard of cleanliness. There is a community refrigerator on the 1st floor (write name and room number on your food), a microwave, a table and some chairs, and a pop machine. The desk is small and a footstool serves as a desk chair. There was very little room to actually sit at the desk to do any work. Sheets, […] spreads, and towels all seemed clean enough, if well-used over the years. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was made up of a very nice family and the hotel stay was ok. When I booked this reservation I was told that there was parking. When I got there there was no parking. They said i could park at a self pay parking a few blocks away. There was no elevator to go to the rooms. You were not able to regulate the room temperature. The television only […] had one channel. Room didn't have a tub, when I asked if I could be moved to a room with a tub they said that there was only one room with a tub and it was the luxury suite. This meant it was more expensive and it was booked. I asked for another pillow and was told they had no more pillows or blankets. The best part of staying here was that it was in China Town so we found a great place to have dinner. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"bad room in a great location at a great price"
You get what you pay for. Easily the cheapest option downtown, and it's surrounded by good food, and 5 minute walk to the red line. Would recommend bringing bedsheets and towels if possible.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel is in desparate need of remodeling , there were only two channels, one in chinese, and one of the blankets had hair on it! Just because its a budget hotel doesn't mean they have to be cheap!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great for independent travelers!"
I had a good experience with this hotel. It is what it is, so do not expect a 5-star resort. I didn't read all of the reviews, but you should know: THERE ARE NO ELEVATORS. I stayed on the 2nd floor, and there were about 12 small steps up. Yes, I drug my 50lb bag, and carry-on bag up the stairs. Be prepared for this. ALSO - there are a few steps DOWN […] to the check in desk. LOCATION IS GOOD! Very close to a train station. Can easily get to hotel from either O'Hare or Midway airports. I purchased a $23 7-day pass and used it constantly. Chicago's public transportation is reliable and safe. Study train map before your trip! THE ROOM ITSELF - looked a little dingy, but at least HOUSEKEEPING came DAILY. NO CABLE on the TV - I only got CBS as the only English station with a good signal. THE ROOM KEY resembled a military dog tag - not a regular metal key or a plastic card. THE TRICK TO OPENING the door is to insert the "key" facing away from you, leaving it in the door knob, THEN turning the door knob. After opening the door, remove the "key." WALLS ARE THIN - I think I heard a guy snoring one night, but it was really quiet in my room. I would stay here again - at least I know what to expect now. Have a nice trip! "best little flop house in chi town"
1970s decor (really) threadbare carpets, and rooms so small you cannot swing a cat in them it is however super cheap, bed is comfortable and it is quiet. "good for the location"
REALLY loved the location. Even though the transit system frequently gets shady passengers, I still believe it's a great way to get around an urban area. The hotel was not too far at all from the downtown area. Just a few stops. The area where you will want to park is a couple of blocks away from the hotel and right next to it is the subway! Parking […] overnight will set you back $14/day. Luckily we had cash because the "machine was broken" when we were ready to head out. I love Chinese food so I was quite happy with the selection. Dim sum for breakfast? Heck yeah. It's right across the street. Triple Crown restaurant is great. Something for the chilly night? Highly recommend pho but unfortunately didn't get around to finding a good authentic store. Also love the cheap souvenirs in the Chinatown area. Now for the bad news. The hotel is TERRIBLE. The twin beds were tiny as heck. There was constantly a puddle next to the toilet in the bathroom. It was worse after you've used the sink a few times. The was a coffeepot on the desk but no coffee provided. The heater didn't work at all. They gave you some weird key to use for the door...just ONE and it's $25 if you lose it. Really HATED the towels. It was like rubbing sandpaper on myself. Might be ok for overnight stay but 2 days was too long there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Stay somewhere else if you can"
CONS: The hotel is missing the basics: clean rooms, clean bedding, clean towels, clean corridors and stairwells, soundproofing. The neighborhood is shoddy and told by friends not safe to be out at night on your own. PROS: Staff was pleasant, Conveniently located next to RED LINE and bus serviceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Without doubt the very worst hotel I have ever stayed at in 30 years of business travel. The room was disgusting, damp, dirty, and wet. The location is very rough, filthy streets and univiting residents. In all, this was a hotel from hell.Genuine Expedia guest review
No elevator. Coffee makers, but no coffee. Many things broken in rooms. Was still soap in shower from previous stay. All I can say is that it was close to my destination. The staff was friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location, not the safest are at night."
Really good location, not far from downtown and Union Park (about an hour walk). Customer service was very friendly and helpful. Busy streets during the day with lots of shops and tiny restaurants, but at night not very safe outside. Vagrants sometimes in groups of 2 or 3 were wondering around outside asking for money. They were very persistent and […] would follow and hassle you. Not safe at night. But total fine while still daylight. Room was okay, small and a little dingy, but not bad. It was the best deal we could find, that is, a room that costs less than our monthly mortgage payment. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a 4-star resort, but outstanding value"
It is, admittedly, pretty run-down. The stairs are narrow, the carpet is threadbare. The hand-held shower-head didn't fit into the clamp, so I couldn't just stand there and have it pour on me. The desk in my room was so close to the door it partially blocked it. But the staff was pleasant, and answered my questions, there was no confusion over my room, […] and the room was clean and tidy. There was free, working WiFi internet access, and a lounge room with fridge, sink, and microwave. I have paid more for less. If I also include the location (two blocks from the Red Line, just two stops from The Loop) and the price (less than half of what I would have paid *anywhere* else with a similar location), then my overall rating is "Fabulous!"
